Closing the loop with you all. Earlier today, we released the ArcGIS Data Store 12.1 Relational Store Upgrade Patch. This patch is meant to resolve the upgrade issue "BUG-000185705 - ArcGIS Data Store relational store upgrade to 12.1 may fail with error, 'Caused by: FATAL: database "dsadmindb" does not exist'." identified in this thread (thank you to everyone who logged cases and helped us get to the bottom of this). Due to the nature of the bug, the patch requires a somewhat novel installation step that I wanted to highlight: "the patch must be installed after the ArcGIS Data Store software upgrade is completed, but before the data store is configured using either the ArcGIS Data Store Configuration Wizard or the configuredatastore command-line utility. Once the patch installation is complete, proceed with the upgrade by configuring." Technical Support resources are familiar with the issue and are standing by to assist if any issues occur as a result of installing this patch or an issue with the upgrade.

Hey there! Technical support is actively investigating the Data Store upgrade issues described in this thread. I completely understand your frustration here, and ask that you log a support ticket on the issue. Please let me know what the case number is so that I can keep a close eye on it as it progresses. @Joshua-Young is correct in his analysis, we do not think the datastore issue is related to BUG-000185267, and from my observation, it has been pretty sporadic in its appearance on customer sites. As soon as I have anything actionable from our investigation, I will follow up here and make sure that the relevant pages are updated.

Hello folks, As mentioned by others on the thread, the Portal for ArcGIS Security 2026 Update 1 Patch D for Windows and Linux is now available. This patch resolves BUG-000185267 which affected upgrades of ArcGIS Enterprise 11.5 to versions 12.0 and 12.1 on Windows Operating Systems. As noted on the patch page: Linux systems were not affected by defect BUG-000185267. Although the Linux patch was also updated to a D version, this is only to keep its ID in sync with Windows. Important: The registry workaround discussed in this thread should not be used. While it may allow the Portal for ArcGIS service to start, the system remains at version 11.5 and retains outdated files, which can introduce risk for future patches or upgrades. If you have already applied this workaround, please contact Esri Technical Support for assistance in fully restoring your ArcGIS Enterprise 12.1 environment. For environments where the original (pre–June 4, 2026) Portal for ArcGIS 11.5 Security 2026 Update 1 Patch was installed, you must first install the corrected Patch D (dated June 4, 2026) before uninstalling or upgrading to versions 12.0 or 12.1. Thank you for your patience as we worked through this issue. If you encounter any additional problems, please contact Esri Technical Support. Our internal teams are fully briefed and ready to assist with patch installation and any upgrade-related concerns.

With the latest update of the Esri vector basemaps on February 20, 2025, there is a new set of custom basemaps for the United States. These basemaps include updated place names recently defined by the U.S. Government, as well as updated treatments of several disputed boundaries and places previously defined by the U.S. State Department. Esri is committed to helping users apply needed changes to their ArcGIS Enterprise organization through this Technical Support Article: How To: Update Esri vector basemaps for the United States in ArcGIS Enterprise via Python. Technical Support will assist in downloading and running the script, however please list any issues on this thread.

Hello Ariel, The enhancement was closed as a known limit with the following closure text: "Available workaround is to bring into web map to express cartography. While we have integrated some smart styling functionality into the feature layer visualization workflow, we have no plans of integrating future symbology representation at this time."
