I've created a new domain called CensusMTFCC and assigned it to the Demography/CensusLandmarkPoint feature class. The field is MTFCC. To create the domain first import the 3 .csv files into your LGIM database as tables; or, at least import the MTFCCCodes.csv--I suggest prefixing the table name with lut for look up table. The 3 files I've included are the result of research into CFCC and MTFCC http://www.census.gov/geo/www/tiger/tgrshp2009/TGRSHP09.txt and a few other resources that seem harder to find now. The tables in the attached .zip provide look up references for CFCC (which includes the MTFCC crosswalk), the full details for MTFCC, and a summarized MTFCC codes table. To create the domain use Table to Domain on the MTFCCCodes table and set the Code Field to MTFCCCODE and Description Field to MTFCCClass. You can figure out the rest. In my opinion this should become a standard domain and reference tables in the LGIM.

Well, for those that hope to use this forum for information here's a feature I've added to the AdministrativeArea dataset: DistrictMagistrates. We decided to include this in the AdministrativeArea dataset because it's a judicial boundary that represents local court administration. The schema will be based on VotingPrecinct and use table relations for the judge info and magistrate location points Also for those of us in PA I created a Coded Value Domain for ElevationIndex and set all of the elevation features to use this domain on the ELEVINDEX field. The code/value pairs match the PAMAP Lidar contour types. Value|Description 0|Index Contours 1|Intermediate Contours 2|Index Depression Contours 3|Intermediate Depression Contours

All: I think it is helpful as a community to have a place to discuss changes and suggestions for the LGIM Schema. Finding a one stop shop for this is difficult because you can have ideas posted, or things noted in forums, or blog replies, etc. So, to start what I hope is a great source for those implementing the LGIM and tweaking it for their purpose I create this forum thread. First: has anyone but me noticed the MunicipalType domain value Burrough? Anything I've seen in US data uses Borough. Since this domain is used in the LGIM I recommend the change but what else will this effect?

@erictrice commented that converting a TIN to raster for use in ArcScene might work. I have an ATI card so that may be part of the issue. However, I will caution against working with large elevation rasters in ArcScene. My experience is that ArcScene will attempt to render a raster dataset and then hang up at about 34-37%. My data is coming from SQL/SDE with 1 meter pixels (3.2ft) covering about 700 square miles. For what it's worth I have found that both rendering large sized raster elevation files and rendering large volumes of LAS data as an LAS dataset simply choke ArcScene. It seems to me that raster elevation display was an issue with AGIS10 and still a problem with 10.1. My suspicion is that about this time (AGIS 10) a decision was made whereby ArcScene became an in-memory application and thus introduced a problem with big files. Read the section about ArcScene in this link. http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/main/10.1/index.html#//00q8000000sv000000 While working with in-memory analysis is great in theory, working with county wide analysis is stymied here. This is especially troublesome when attempting to use a surface elevation raster in the display or as input for either creating subsurface features or more detailed DTM information like buildings and tree canopy. It also seems to affect other geoprocessing tasks too. I've tried to run LAS to raster tools which processed for nearly 2 weeks before getting a result. I'm half afraid to attempt much more. Please Esri, take the processing of ArcScene out of being a primarily memory based application and give it access to the horsepower that it once had. Perhaps a marriage of ArcScene and ArcGlobe into one product is to be considered too. But for now at least help us to work with what we??ve got?

Please consider an option to allow a user to define default legend iterm properties such as font settings and visibility for current extent even if there are no layers present in the map. This is very necessary for creating map templates that have empty data frames. It is also necessary for using the new export map GP tool for ArcServer 10.1 with custom templates. Blank templates are very useful for both ArcMap and ArcServer, but setting legend properties without a layer is not currently possible. Also, if a layer is used to set the properties and then removed and the blank template is saved, the settings are lost.

I'm also running into display problems with an elevation raster in ArcScene. I'm trying to load raster elevation files (bare ground, or first return) generated from LiDAR. The area is approximately 700 sqmi. Rendering the image in ArcMap works fine, every time I try to add the layer into ArcScene I get a message, preparing <image> for display. The progress bar goes to about 33% and ArcScene stops responding. Tech and Specs In Task Manager, ArcScene runs memory up to +2GB..... I've got a NVIDIA Quadro FX 4800 graphics card with the latest drivers (9.18.13.593) but that horsepower seems to add nothing to ArcScene. I'm using AGIS 10.1 on a Windows 7 64B OS. My workstation has 6GB RAM and an Intel X5677 processor. This system should scream through this type of application. Please help.... Are there recommended tweaks for ArcScene? Is ArcScene the wrong platform for 3D analysis with raster data, if so how is a base elevation layer to be used? I seem to remember ArcScene 9.3x rendered the same bare earth image without errors. One last thing: the rasters are stored in a local usb drive inside of a File Geodatabase.

If you're using SQL/SDE there are a few ways to set IDs using SSMS (Microsoft SQL) and tsql. This could populate your existing data and then you can use the editing tools to continue from that point, perhaps?

UPDATE: I've found that I had to clear browser history to get the geometry service to hit the correct server (mine) instead of AGIS. Diagnostic tools are helpful... Back to the original discussion about WKID... and the buffer results. I use the tool and buffer a point to 50 miles, then I use the standard draw tool and measure a radius from the point to the outline of the buffer and I get conflicting results. With the SR set to 102100 I got about 38.05 miles instead of 50. I've also noticed that the standard draw tool does not hit my geometry service (or any) for the calculations? Can anyone shed light on this?

I'm also testing the OTB geometry service on AGIS 10.1. I'm getting errors, so I've tried to confirm the tool is even hitting my geometry service but I can't see any activity on my services. I've even shut down the geometry service and used the standard draw tool to see if that works or throws an error. Oddly enough, with the geometry service url commented out of the config file, and my service shut down, I still get results??? Anyone have a theory for me?

Is anyone else running into problems with SSL and flex apps? I've run this configuration on a test server that hosts both the app and services, with the services behind SSL, and that works ok. Now I want to run the app on a different server and hit the AGIS server via tokens and ideally proxyurl. However, regardless of the token generation or open crossdomain.xml on the AGIS server I continually get errors trying to access the https url. I'm hoping someone else out there is feeling my pain and had worked through this......... BTW I've tried with both a self-signed SSL and a legitimate domain SSL from a CA (although the server is not seen as on the same domain as the certificate i.e. public access name vs. internal name). I think browsers and AGIS hit a questionable SSL cert--the bright red warnings--and bomb out even if you choose to trust the site and install the certificate. Both IE and Chrome throw the cert. warnings....

I know this is an old thread, but I wanted to respond to the last part about parcels and pop-ups. You could add the parcel layer in as a feature layer under the operational layers. Then set it's alpha to 0 (invisible) and exclude it from the layers list. This would make it always on but invisible so anywhere a user clicks they will get the parcel info.
