Summary Recent Microsoft cumulative updates result in a crash for ArcGIS Pro 2.8.x and 2.9.x users when changing symbology. This document provides additional information about the crash and what Esri recommends that customers do. What is causing the crash? This issue is caused by an update in the .NET 4.8.x framework and only affects ArcGIS Pro 2.8.x and 2.9.x users who have the Microsoft cumulative updates applied on their machine. Users will encounter this issue if they access any symbol gallery or color gallery except the one located in the Catalog view. Most of the time, the crash will occur when opening the symbol gallery in the symbology pane (for example, by clicking a symbol patch in the Contents pane). Other common scenarios that will cause the crash are opening the color picker for a symbol patch in the Contents pane or accessing any symbol picker from the ribbon. Does this affect the ArcGIS Pro 3.0 release? No. ArcGIS Pro 3.0.x is built on .NET 6, therefore it is not affected by this recent Microsoft update. What is Esri recommending that customers do? Since ArcGIS Pro 3.0.x is built on .NET 6, this issue can be resolved by upgrading to ArcGIS Pro 3.0 or later. Note that ArcGIS Pro 3.0 is a major release. When upgrading from ArcGIS Pro 2.x, customers should review and understand the following documentation before moving to 3.x: Get Ready for ArcGIS Pro 3.0 Migration from ArcGIS Pro 2.x to 3.0 What if customers cannot update to ArcGIS Pro 3.x? For customers unable to update to ArcGIS Pro 3.x, this issue is fixed in ArcGIS Pro 2.9 Patch 5 (2.9.5), released October 20, 2022 and in ArcGIS Pro 2.8 Patch 8 (2.8.8), released November 1, 2022. 2.9.x customers Update to ArcGIS Pro 2.9 Patch 5 (2.9.5). The patch is available to download from My Esri. ArcGIS Pro 2.9 must be installed prior to installing any ArcGIS Pro 2.9 patches. Each patch is cumulative of all previous patch fixes. 2.8.x customers Update to ArcGIS Pro 2.8 Patch 8 (2.8.8). The patch is available to download from My Esri. ArcGIS Pro 2.8 must be installed prior to installing any ArcGIS Pro 2.8 patches. Each patch is cumulative of all previous patch fixes. For informational purposes, at this time the following cumulative updates are known to cause the crash. KB5017263 – Cumulative Update Preview for .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.8 for Windows 10, version 1809, and Windows Server, version 2019. KB5017264 – Cumulative Update Preview for .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.8 for Windows 11. KB5017267 – Cumulative Update Preview for .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.8.1 for Windows 11for x64. I realize that this is an old request but wanted to note here that this option was implemented in ArcGIS Pro under the Editing Options: KoryKramer_0-1665665790409.png It will not be implemented in ArcMap as no further enhancements are being made there.

Hi @FourCornersMapping I see that you kudo'd this idea yesterday https://community.esri.com/t5/arcgis-pro-ideas/layout-view-for-animations-in-arcgis-pro/idi-p/922327 Is this new idea different from that one? If so, can you please explain? Thank you!

Undo/redo layer visibility in the Contents pane was added in ArcGIS Pro. If changes are made to the contents pane (like turning off layer visibility, collapsing layers, etc.) and edits are made, Mapping changes can be undone separately from Editing changes and vice versa. KoryKramer_0-1665418205016.png I realize that this is an old request for ArcMap, but hopefully sharing this new functionality in ArcGIS Pro is helpful.

Hi @ToddAGrissom and others who have voted for this idea. In reviewing it, some questions have come up. When there is a problem with licensing in Pro, an error does pop up describing what the problem is. This is an example of an error when the license server cannot be reached: "A valid ArcGIS License Manager could not be found on the specified host. Please contact your organization's License Administrator to ensure that your ArcGIS License Manager is running and accessible." Maybe that wasn't true at the time the idea was submitted, or maybe there is a specific scenario that isn't handled with an error? Can you please provide more information with details, screenshots if possible, showing a situation where you are not getting an informative error message? We can then look at that specifically to improve the experience. Thanks!

Just a note... From the Catalog pane you can right-click the Map > Rename. In the Contents pane, where there are already many options on the context menu, when you click the Map, you can use F2 to activate rename in addition to the slow double-click that you already mentioned. Also, a slightly quicker way to open Properties (instead of right-click > Properties) is to just double-click Map.

@wayfaringrob for the TIGER roads service, I got a toast notification > Display limit notification https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/latest/help/data/services/use-web-feature-layers.htm#GUID-5C33BE0F-B3A4-4003-8DD8-F997FD492AC4 KoryKramer_0-1664813550923.png Did you get that when a service stops drawing? I'm not sure about the latest example you've provided. What kind of data is in the map?
