ArcGIS Pro doesn't force a user to expose data online (to the cloud). If you already use ArcGIS Server (now called ArcGIS Enterprise What is ArcGIS Enterprise?—Portal for ArcGIS (10.5) | ArcGIS Enterprise ) you have access to Portal for ArcGIS What is Portal for ArcGIS?—Portal for ArcGIS (10.5) | ArcGIS Enterprise Portal is an on-premises solution that is analogous to ArcGIS Online, but entirely on your own servers, behind your firewall. If these are concerns for you, as they certainly are for many organizations, I would highly recommend reading up on Portal.

rhughes522 If you click on the Edit tab, are the Save and Discard icons activated or grayed out? It may be that there are outstanding edits at a "higher level" and until those are saved or discarded, you wouldn't be able to update the relationship table. Just a thought.

Joshua, please see https://community.esri.com/ideas/9992. You can up vote that Idea and provide comments if you'd like. There are also some suggestions in the comments on how to work with the Project design. You could essentially just have a "scratch" project that you open up to manipulate data and exit. You don't have to ever save the project if all you're doing is quickly looking at some data, or even changing data.

IDEA

Reese Hirth Christian "Smitty" Smith Jerry Chase Rachel Sarina Matt Sarty Grant MacLeod Evan Mosher Ulrike KleebergCraig MacLachlan Moore County Heinz-Georg Pankow We added some questions in an info box in the description, and I wanted to reach out to present the same to those who have already voted for this idea: How do you connect the unit, what type of work are you doing, and what functionality from the current ArcMap GPS toolbar do you use most? Is there important functionality missing from the existing toolbar that would be beneficial in a Pro GPS "toolbar"? Providing more information will be extremely helpful to us when thinking about what this might look like in ArcGIS Pro. Thank you!

Thank you for the refreshing opinion, Jason. I wanted to respond to some of your input here. I hear you about learning where things are in Pro, and this is something that we hear a lot from other users as they begin to use Pro. From your positive attitude towards Pro, it sounds like you’ve left this hurdle far behind you, but I wanted to make sure that other users who find this resource are aware of the great ArcGIS Pro quick-start tutorials. There are 15 tutorials and many of them take only 10 or 20 minutes (that’s why they’re quick-start tutorials). These aren’t meant to teach you GIS; they’re meant to familiarize a user with the new (to them) application. So for those of us who have a lot of experience using ArcMap, and GIS professionals with many years of experience like yourself, these tutorials are a very effective way to quickly learn how to get around and be productive in ArcGIS Pro. For those who want to dig deeper, there are 76 ArcGIS Pro tutorials, web courses, videos and seminars on https://www.esri.com/training/ and 11 lessons on http://learn.arcgis.com/en/ . Or if you prefer books, you could use Getting to Know ArcGIS Pro. You get the point - there are resources out there to help transition from using ArcMap as your desktop GIS to embracing ArcGIS Pro. If there are things that you find clunky or ideas and functionality that you want to see in Pro, please check out the ArcGIS Ideas site. Look to see if somebody has already posted that Idea, vote it up and provide your story in the comments. If you can’t find it, submit a new idea! We also hear a lot about the need for more data management functionality in Pro (Catalog). This is an area that is continually being developed with some notable changes coming in Pro 2.0. Every version sees new functionality so we continue to encourage you and the entire user community to communicate your challenges and needs so that we can address them. We can expect to see a release of ArcMap 10.5.1 pretty soon, and then ArcMap 10.6 at the end of the year; however, ArcGIS Pro is the focus for new development efforts as it is the future of the ArcGIS Desktop product. Customer feedback continues to be a key driver of ArcGIS Pro software development. Therefore, we encourage you to continue commenting and posting your ideas as this helps us to build ArcGIS Pro to meet your needs and requirements. Thanks again for your comments and we look forward to keeping the conversation going.

IDEA

Devlyn, I understand what you're asking for now. If the ArcGIS Pro Project has a default Spatial Reference set under Options > Map and Scene > Spatial Reference > Choose spatial reference, any new map or scene created within that project will get that spatial reference by default. However, when an mxd is imported into the project, there is no check that might potentially warn the user that the mxd's spatial reference (actually the mxd could have multiple data frames, each with a different spatial reference, and each data frame would be imported as a separate Map into the Pro project; so it wouldn't check the mxd's spatial reference as there is no such thing, rather it would have to check all data frames and compare the SR against the Project's default SR) is different than the Project's default. I think that I'm on track with you now. Could you please update the title and description of the Idea to more accurately reflect the request? This is not about doing a transformation check when importing an mxd into a Pro project. You can refine the wording, but it would be something like "When importing an mxd to a Pro project, provide a warning if mxd data frame spatial reference is different from the Project default spatial reference" Hope that helps, and thank you for the clarification! IDEA

ecl_robson_d Please let me know if my explanation above helped. I don't think that this is an Idea that can be implemented due to what I explained above. If I'm misunderstanding the request, please clarify so that the idea can be considered. Otherwise, we will mark it as Not in Current Product Plan.
