Make sure both your original data and the data you are adding are defined in the correct projection. If the data was defined as the wrong projection than what it was created in, you can get this error. Bare in mind many different types of projections have the words "NAD 1983" in them because that is the datum name, so it is easy to get confused. One common cause of this I have seen is when the projection really uses the 1927 datum.

There are a few options that I can think of. If you just need to grab a few coordinates, you can add a graphical point, double-click properties, and click the location tab. (see picture below). If you have a lot of corners, create a point layer, and you can add the XY to all the points automatically. Then you can use this to create labels or callouts. If you already had the coordinated of the corners in the GIS layer you could also use the Add Label tool in the Drawing toolbar.

Ditto on the CTPP. However if you are dealing with municipal-level data, you may want to check with your local state data center or planning department. They may already have the data extracted from CTPP and stored in a user-friendly format. As for depicting flow data, that question seems to torment a lot of people (like me). Arrows are a popular choice but I have found creating them automatically in GIS leads to clunky results. You can do a much nicer job with graphics software, but then you lose the connection to the live data unless you have a specialized software set-up. What we have been doing is using a thematic map that centers on inflow or outflow to a particular area. Here is an old example but it illustrates what I mean. http://www.baltometro.org/images/stories/BMC_CommuteShed.pdf

I have found that you can display a field but restrict editing, but not open a field for editing when a user first adds a point, and then restrict it for later users. Right now the parameters allow anyone to add a point, but no one can edit points once they are added.

I have an AGOL map with an editable map layer (point) that connects to our SDE and is published through ArcGIS Server. The map will be part of an outreach project where we solicit comments from the public. I would like to be able to have the person inputting the data to enter their name and e-mail, but not have that information show when other people click on the point. Is this possible, either in AGOL or using the FindEditFilter map template?

Does anyone know if AGOL credits are consumed with Open Data and if so, at what rate? I don't want to enable it until I know the potential financial impact.

I have a web service we have published in ArcServer and are trying to make a map from in AGOL. The map service got published with a scale range set different than the one we would like to use on the map. I can republish the service with the new scale range but we have already done a lot of work with pop-ups and other changes to the AGOL map. The AGOL map does not refresh the changes to the service automatically, we'll have to add the service and start again. Is there a setting either to AGOL or the web service that will allow us to override the scale range without having to redo the AGOL map?

I am working on a web map based on the javascript sample here: http://help.arcgis.com/EN/webapi/javascript/arcgis/jssamples/renderer_generate_renderer.html The numbers in my fields are all decimals with 1-2 decimal places, and the legend always adds extra zero's to the end. You can see this behavior in their live sample as well - select "Population/Square Mile(2007)" on the map at http://help.arcgis.com/EN/webapi/javascript/arcgis/samples/renderer_generate_renderer/ I would like to round my number off and remove all the extra zero's, but I cannot figure out how. I tried modifying the script but I can't find a way to do it. I rounded the number in the web service (I published the service so I can edit the original). I tried to change the original field parameters to limit the number of decimals. I am stumped. Coding is not my strong point. Does anyone know of a way I can shorten the number of decimals to make the legend appear neater?

I have a map with a lot of layers and I would like users to be able to turn layers on and off, ideally in a left-hand side bar that is always shown - similar to the desktop version of ArcGIS. Is there a template that does this? I can modify parameters in javascript or python but I am not good at coding so my customization abilities are limited.

A model I am working on in ModelBuilder just stopped functioning mid-edit. I could not make changes or save and when I closed it and tried to open it up for editing the model was empty. Now there is a red X over the model icon and the model is destroyed. Does anyone know if there is a way to restore it? I am using ArcEditor 10.1 SP1.
