I might have spoken too soon- the Feature Service is not working in the app anymore...

Mark- Thanks! This looks great. I gave it a run and everything is looking good. I was even able to load a FeatureService on top of everything, which is what I wanted. The only issue I ran into was incorporating Bing maps into it. For some reason, no matter where I put it in the code, it always sits on top. Is it because it's not defined in the creationCompleteHandler?

We did get it to work, but it's a little jumpy when it hits the next map service. Essentially, it should adjust for any number of map services as long as you change the slider value to correspond to however many layers you include with it. Robert- I'm sure yours is a bit smoother based on your screenshot.... Looking forward to seeing it! <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>

Yes, you will need ArcSDE (File GDB will not work), but you also have to need to have Server Standard or Advanced. Here is the info: http://help.arcgis.com/en/arcgisserver/10.0/help/arcgis_server_dotnet_help/index.html#/What_is_a_feature_service/009300000020000000/ http://www.esri.com/library/brochures/pdfs/arcgis-server-functionality-matrix.pdf

Good to hear- I think it's actually the opposite- there are more problems with personal geodatabases not working and File GDBs are the recommended way unless you are using SDE.

Akhil- I would recommend calling into Technical Support on this one if you can't get it working. We'll be able to dive in a take a look at the settings.

I'm having this same problem and I am using 10. Is it because I just have an ArcView license and not an ArcEditor or Info license? There may be 2 different downloads depending on your licensing. Here is a link to the Mobile team's blog on it: http://blogs.esri.com/Dev/blogs/mobilecentral/archive/2010/09/02/ArcGIS-Mobile-and-ArcGIS-Desktop.aspx ArcView is supported, and I would recommend installing Mobile build 2500 and ArcGIS 10 sp2. These releases have the most up to date bug/enhancement fixes.

Is this 9.3.1 or 10? If it's 931, you may want to rerun the post install on Server (since Mobile is bundled with Server). If it's 10, it should be working since you get 1 mobile license with Desktop in that version.

It could be a glitchy thing happening with Toolbox. Can you manually add the toolbox back? (Right click on the Main arctoolbox header and choose Add toolbox. Browse to System Tools and add Mobile toolbox) If that doesn't work, can you run a repair on the mobile install?

This is the correct way to add a cached basemap to your projects. In fact you copy the cache to the root of the Mobile projects folder, and that way they can be used by multiple projects on the device. The idea is documented and discussed here. -Chris

Hi Ryan, Currently, WMS is not a supported content on ArcGIS.com. For a full list of what is supported, click on this link: http://help.arcgis.com/en/arcgisonline/help/index.html#//010q0000000m000000.htm If the service was published from ArcGIS Server with WMS capabilities, you can simply use the map service instead and that will load with arcgis.com. Thanks, Chris

The Google Map path is pretty basic, and you can achieve that and a whole lot more with Network Analyst: http://help.arcgis.com/en/arcgisdesktop/10.0/help/index.html#//004700000001000000.htm http://www.esri.com/software/arcgis/extensions/networkanalyst/index.html There's a 60 day free trial here. And, some training courses here and here.
