Are you using a feature service or map service? Map services aren't supported yet in the widgets.

What version of Win Mobile is this? There was a bug logged for 10.1.1- (NIM089287-Data collected in ArcGIS for Windows Mobile v10.1.1 produces a datum shift of between 4-5 feet.) NIM089287 is fixed in ArcGIS Desktop and ArcGIS Server 10.2.1 update which includes solution to datum transformation method selection between WGS84 and map spatial reference. Users can specify the transformation method between WGS84 and map spatial reference for ArcGIS for Windows Mobile application to use. It it is not specified by the user, the application will be based on map spatial reference appliable are and choose suitable datum transformation method.

Kevin, I'm not sure if this is going to be possible with that data. From my understanding, ArcPad 10.2 needs to use a feature service in order to edit. This was introduced at 10.0, so I don't think your 9.3.1 data will work. Chris

Bart- NIM087498 is still active and valid in the system. It was logged at 10.1 sp1, and in terms of mobile, there have not been that many changes to the MPC or caching tools since then. So, it could be that you are still hitting this bug. Have you logged a ticket with Support yet? If not, I would encourage you to do so and that way we can troubleshoot the issue. Thanks!

Hi David, I work in Tech Support and primarily handle Mobile incidents. I haven't seen anything come in since 10.2.1 with regard to the caching tools not working. Is this happening with all of your data? Are you bringing in the mobile cache or service to the Project Center?

If you are only using iPads, the best option may be using the Collector app, which is getting an update soon that will allow for offline editing. The Mobile team just released a blog detailing it this week: http://blogs.esri.com/esri/arcgis/2014/01/15/collector-with-disconnected-editing-is-coming-soon/

Here are a couple things you can try when troubleshooting this: 1. Use FQDN or IP address (as Akhil mentioned). 2. Are your features in the SDE 'Registered as Versioned'? 3. If Feature Access is enabled, are you able to edit in arcgis.com or a web app? 4. Try the desktop version of the Mobile application instead of the device (or vice versa). 5. Use a feature service in desktop to find out more about the error. On the service, enable Feature Access Make a 'Use' connection to your ArcGIS Server Bring the Feature Service into a new ArcMap session. This service has a little grey box icon Right click and do Edit Features > Create local copy Start an edit session, create a feature, and stop editing save edits. Right click the service again in the TOC and go to Edit features > Sync See if you get any errors and if so, these should be specific to what is happening at the GDB level. If all else fails, log a Tech Support ticket!

There are several great videos on it here: http://video.esri.com/search/collector You can do a quick Google search to find the PPTs from last year's UC. Please keep in mind that these were created by Esri so please give credit where it is due and remember that these were current as of July and the software has changed since then, so there may be some old info. But this should get you started. I hope this helps! Chris

These are features that you have defined in your project to collect. You aren't creating a shapefile- you are editing features that have been added to the mobile cache database either through the GP tool or through downloading a Mobile service. There are some good help topics on data collection design and models: Designing effective data models for field data collection http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/windows-mobile/app/index.html#//007v00000007000000 Hope this helps! One suggestion on this issue is to take a higher resolution photo using the tablet's default Camera Utility and then attach it to the feature in ArcGIS for Windows Mobile. This way, you would still be able to leverage the high quality image and use it in your project. As for getting this bug fixed, or any bug ideas, I would suggest using the Ideas portal as your sounding board. Developers use this as a tool to find out what the user community truly wants in a product, so I would suggest posting the idea there (http://ideas.arcgis.com) and have people promote it. It works great- many of the ideas get considered for the product and a lot end up getting implemented. As the old saying goes- nothing attracts a crowd, like a crowd... -Chris

The spatial reference of all operational map layers and basemap layers in your project must be the same. If they're different, in ArcMap, you can re-project the unmatching map frame's spatial reference using the Coordinate System Properties dialog box. Ensure that the WKIDs (spatial reference identifiers) of all map layers match. http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/windows-mobile/app/index.html#//007v0000000p000000

You should have no problems upgrading to the latest build- 10.1.1- and be able to use both 10.0 and 10.1 services within the MPC.
