Yes, the 3.1 application should have no problems hooking into 10.1 services. One thing to check is the URL, since this has changed. You should be using the "http://<server>[: port]/<instance>/rest" format instead of the 'mobileservice' endpoint. At 3.1, the application browses the REST endpoint of the server and looks for mobile services automatically. See the screenshot for example. -Chris

What version of Desktop and ArcGIS for Win Mobile are you using? Do you have ArcGIS Server, or are you just using Desktop? You could also create a Tile Package to use as a basemap.

I wasn't able to see the layer, since it looks like you have it secured. Can you look at the REST endpoint for the layer (0) and under Types, what do you see? Does it say "Drawing Tool: esriFeatureEditToolPoint", or "Drawing Tool: esriFeatureEditToolNone"?

Jill, This is possible to do. You can use domains and subtypes within Feature Services and the drop down will appear in Collector. I have attached a screenshot in Android showing it and here are some links that may help as well: -Authoring Feature Services -Domains and Subtypes

The second problem is not a bug, more being a bit of newb to arcgis. If one user has a working (in Collector) map in their collection how can they share it so every user in an organisation has it in their Collector list? I'm sharing the map with the Organisation. In ArcGIS.com, if you have shared the map with the organization, you can share the map with a group and then any member in that group will be able to see the map. When you first open Collector, you're presented with "All Maps". This includes all of the maps from your user account plus any that have been shared with the organization you are a part of. You can narrow this down by searching, or you can click on the upper left on the Collector icon and left slidebar opens, showing the groups. If the map you are looking for isn't there, the reason could be that it's not compatible with Collector. Only webmaps that are compatible will show as available. Hope this helps! -Chris

Maybe because I'm not the author of it, I don't have those controls. Here's what I see when I click on settings for the map window:

The spatial reference has to be the same for all layers in the project. In the Help topic for tiled packages, it mentions: When using a basemap in mobile projects with other basemaps or operational layers, make sure the spatial reference of your basemap and operational layers match each other. You can use a custom tiling schema or an ArcGIS Online, Bing Maps, or Google Maps tiling schema (WGS 1984 Web Mercator Auxiliary Sphere). With a custom tiling schema, you can use the Generate_Map_Server_Cache_Tiling_Scheme geoprocessing tool. If you're using ArcGIS Online, Bing Maps, or Google Maps for your basemap, make sure you also use the same WGS 1984 Web Mercator Auxiliary Sphere as the spatial reference for your operational layers (set for data frame in ArcMap). Hope this helps! Chris

Hi Matt, I tried on this one too, and got the same invalid layers popup. When I tried to look at the layer by itself, it throw an error (screenshot). Is that layer also shared with the public so that we can view it, or is it just in the organization. Also- is it an internal layer, or using a public IP? Thanks, Chris

ArcPad 10.1 will handle things differently than previous releases. They are looking to align more with the other mobile products in using Feature Services to handle edits in the field. I don't have dates of release, but you can look for updates here on the forums or at the ArcPad blog site here: http://arcpadteam.blogspot.com. Chris

I was able to reproduce the same issue with both 2.5 and 3.0. I used 2 basemaps with sublayers (one imagery, one streets) and one operational layer. I have logged a bug for this under: #NIM082418 Operational layers disappear if basemap layers have sublayers. Thanks, Chris

To do this, all you need to do is set the displaylevels for each of the basemaps in the <layer> tag. Keep in mind this only works with tiled and Bing layers. If you set the basemaps as the same name, they will show as one in the viewer. Then when you zoom in, depending on the level, you will see the particular service. http://help.arcgis.com/en/webapps/flexviewer/help/index.html#/Layer_tag/01m30000000p000000/

I can reproduce the issue that Sheri mentioned. If I have feature access enabled, but the service is set as dynamic in the XML, it will allow me to edit the service anyway. I have logged a bug under: #NIM077296 Dynamic layers can be edited in Flex 2.5 if feature access is enabled on the service. As an FYI, this seems to only be effecting version 2.5... In testing with 2.4, it works properly. Thanks, Chris
