Hello! I think you may need to provide a bit more detail for us to get to the bottom of your issue!! Eg. Can you save edits to your data in ArcMap? Are you using shapefiles or an AXF? Is it only your text field that is unable to save edits, or all fields? Looking forward to helping you figure this one out!! Hannah

Hello! If you have multiple layers (shapefiles) in your ArcPad Project, to collect data you must: 1. Make the Layer Editable (select layer from Edit Menu Dropdown) 2. Collect Geometry for New Feature 3. Complete the Form for New Feature Attributes So the form is the last, not the first step in the data collection process!! This means that the field users have already selected the layer before they get to the form 🙂 Let me know if this helps! Hannah

Hi Dag, If you want to be able to specify a projection for your QuickProject (regardless of the Template used) you must ensure the following: No layers are open and in the map at the time of QuickProject creation eg. create the QuickProject when you first open ArcPad. If any layers are already open, only the existing map projection can be used. Try closing and opening ArcPad, then create your QuickProject! Let me know if this works, Hannah

Hi Harald, I tried using the Cut Applet in both ArcPad 10.0.3 and ArcPad 10.0.4 without any issues - but I was using a line layer to cut a polygon layer... Your screenshots indicate that you are using the same layer for the cut line and the cut feature. When I tried this, I received an error message saying that ArcPad was unable to add the feature 😞 Is it be possible for you to use 2 different layers (one for the cut line, one for the cut feature) for your project? Hope this helps, Hannah

Hello, If you have Windows Mobile Device Centre installed on your desktop then you should be able to create a connection with your Trimble Device by plugging it into your PC via USB. Once your PC has recognized the device and created a partnership (should happen automatically), you will be able to browse all of the folders on the device using Windows Explorer. This will allow you to copy and move files around as you would from any local folder. If you are still having issues - please refer to the Windows Mobile Device Center Help. Thanks, Hannah

Hi All, This bug was recognized in ArcPad 10 and was fixed in ArcPad 10.0.1 Please update your ArcPad Installation to resolve this issue. From the ArcPad 10.0.1 Release Notes: Case sensitivity is enforced in ArcPad for symbology classification codes, ensuring that coded values are saved correctly and match coded value domains in the parent geodatabase. Thanks, Hannah

If you choose not to use the .CAB file deployment in the ArcPad Data Manager, there are other ways to get your data onto your device... If you choose to create the data on your computer now - the Data Manager will create a folder using your specified name in the specified location on your computer. With your device connected via USB and using Microsoft Sync Software (either Windows Mobile Device Center or ActiveSync), you are able to browse the folders on your device. You can now copy and paste your project folder onto your device like you would any other folder on your machine. This method will allow you to create multiple projects with different names and copy them onto your device without any overwriting. After you have disconnected your device and fired-up ArcPad, you should be able to browse to any map document (.apm) and/or data (shapefile and axf) and open it in ArcPad. Let me know if this works for you, Hannah

Hey Joel, A few things you can try to troubleshoot your issues: - Check-out each layer separately to narrow down the problem. - Make sure that you are not trying to check-out unsupported data types eg. Joins and Attributed Relationship Classes And remember - ArcPad does NOT support custom marker symbols. Try using simple point symbols instead. If you can't resolve your issues - please contact Esri Support (they have super-awesome ArcPad Support Analysts that will be able to help you!) Hope this helps, Hannah

Hi Peter, After you have installed ArcPad 10 on your Windows Desktop PC, turn on your Juno 3D and connect it to your PC using a USB cable and the Windows Mobile Device Manager Software. Once your Juno 3D is synched up to your PC, open the ArcPad Deployment Manager on your desktop PC (look in the ArcGIS/ArcPad folder in your Start Menu). Check the box labelled 'Install ArcPad for Windows Mobile' and click 'Deploy'. Now, if you look at your Juno 3D, you should see ArcPad installing!! Use the same license code that you used to register ArcPad on your PC to register ArcPad on the device (each license code is good for one desktop and one mobile version of ArcPad). Let me know how you get on! Hannah

Hi Simon, A screenshot would be very helpful!! You do not need to have a folder connection to ArcMap to use the 'Get Data From ArcPad' tool - but the tool is only looking for .axf files (which are created when you check-out an ArcPad Project). It will NOT display shapefiles, personal geodatabases or file geodatabases. When I open the ArcPad Data Manager 'Get Data From ArcPad' tool, after pressing the 'Add' button (big green + in the top right corner) - I am presented with a standard windows file explorer called 'Select ArcPad File(s)'. Using this, I am able to navigate into any folder location on my computer. When i find the .axf that i want to check-in (eg. Riverside_mdb.axf in the Riverside Sample Data Folder) - i can double-click the .axf file and this is then loaded into the 'Get Data From ArcPad' dialog to review my edits. Could you try using the 'Get Data From ArcPad' tool on the Riverside Sample Data and let me know if that works for you? Thanks, Hannah

Hi Keith, This behavior has been included by design as of ArcPad 7. The CHECKBOX Control does not support the required attribute because of the nature of the control (eg. can only be true/false, not null) The need for further clarification about the CheckBox Control behavior in the Customizing ArcPad Help has been noted by the ArcPad Dev Team and should be included in future versions of ArcPad and the new Customizing ArcPad Online Help. Thanks, Hannah

Hi Keith, There are a couple of ways to get the EDITFORM to display in ArcPad; 1. Create a New Feature. When you have finished capturing the geometry for a new feature, the EDITFORM will appear to help you capture the attribute data for that new feature. 2. Select an Editable Feature and use the Feature Properties Tool. Once you have an existing feature selected, you can use the Feature Properties Tool (on the Edit Toolbar) to open the EDITFORM and edit the attribute data. 3. Use the Select Tool and DOUBLE-TAP the Editable Feature. To launch the EDITFORM, simply use the Select Tool to double-tap the feature to edit the attribute data. NOTE - All of these will ONLY work if the Layer is set as Editable in ArcPad I hope this helps, Hannah

Hi Nicholas, Required Fields on ArcPad Forms are set two ways: - Inherited from the geodatabase - Set on the control properties when designing forms in ArcPad Studio To remove required fields: - Edit your geodatabase to remove required fields and perform a new checkout - Reset the required fields property on the control properties in ArcPad Studio Remember that this does NOT apply to fields required for related tables - they will always be required fields. Hope this helps, Hannah
