Hi Micah, This was such a common request from ArcPad Users that ArcPad 10.2 now includes a new feature called Quick Fields. The idea behind Quick Fields is that you can select your own 'rules' using the ArcPad Expression Builder to populate your fields when you create new features. You can choose from the date and time, x and y coordinates, incremental ID's, names and much more. You simply select the field name you want to apply the rule to, then select the value from the drop-down list (or even write your own). Simply follow these instructions to build your first Quick Fields Expression! Let me if you need anything more, Hannah 🙂

Hi Phil, I will assume that you are talking about using the inbuilt location sensor with Windows 8 Tablets? In ArcPad 10.2 -all you need to do to connect to the location sensor is select the Location Sensor Protocol and the Location Sensor Port on the GPS Preferences tab. I have had no issues connecting ArcPad 10.2 to the inbuilt location sensor on either the Dell Latitude, Asus VivioTab or the Microsoft Surface Pro 2. Hannah 🙂

Hi Jamal, The far right of the Status Bar in ArcPad is used for 2 things: 1. Double-tap to display memory indicators. If there are 2 memory indicators, the icon with the green 'V' denotes the virtual memory. Double-tap a second time to dismiss the memory indicators. 2. The value in the Status Bar (V, H or Z) indicates the action button mode. This is for Windows Mobile devices that have a rocker button (+ and -) to navigate around your device. ArcPad allows you to use this hardware button to navigate around your map. By performing a press and hold on the rocker you can toggle through the following options: Z mode: fixed zoom in/out H mode: horizontal pan V mode: vertical pan Hope this helps, Hannah 🙂

ArcPad 10.2 has the ability to suppress downloads when performing a sync. If this function is not selected, ArcPad will attempt to download the entire feature service dataset during a sync, which is not great for underpowered devices and limited data plans. However, if you have editor tracking enabled on your feature service, ArcPad will be able to identify the new records and perform an incremental download. The data from your feature service should already be in your ArcPad project using the checkout tools in ArcMap, but you need to update your features in the field you can still request downloads during sync by unchecking the following checkbox: Hannah 🙂

Hi Patric, It is important to understand which type of TIFF file you are using (as there are many variations) and if ArcPad is able to support your particular TIFF file. This Help Topic details ArcPad support for TIFF files. If your TIFF file does not appear on the list - please contact Esri Technical Support to request support for your specific TIFF format. Hannah 🙂

I'm not 100% sure what you mean when you talk about 'links' - but i can help with the auto-increment field 🙂 QuickFields in ArcPad allow you to set rules for data collection in your field project. To set up an auto-increment field, follow these instructions - but instead of 'Unique ID' - select 'Incremental ID' (you will be prompted to set an initial value when you collect your first feature). For every subsequent feature collected, the value in the field will increase +1. Hope this helps, Hannah 🙂

In ArcPad 10.0.2, the altitude output from the GPS has been increased to 3 decimal places (unless there are actually only 0, 1 or 2 places available eg. 2.500m will display as 2.5m). Hope this helps, Hannah 🙂

This issue is caused when ArcPad 10 is installed - the licence is registered against the current user at the time of the installation. This issue has been fixed in later versions of ArcPad - installation now registers against the machine 🙂 Hannah 🙂

Hi Ben, When your checking in your data from ArcPad back into your desktop geodatabase - it is essential to make sure you have copied the AXF from the mobile device and into a local folder. ArcPad won't let you check in otherwise 🙂 Records will not be deleted during a check-in unless they have been marked as deleted in ArcPad. Were the missing records reported as deletes when you performed your check-in? You can check your AXF status flags before you check-in your data in ArcPad Studio. These are the status flags (new, modified deleted records) that are set in the AXF to update the records in your geodatabase. You can update them using a SQL query in Studio if required. If you do have deleted records in your AXF that you do not want deleted from your geodatabase - changing the AXF status flag will prevent this. Simply perform another checkout to make sure the records are present in your project AXF. Hope this helps, Hannah 🙂

If you are using the RecordSet object (eg. MoveNext, MovePrevious) - can I suggest instead using DataSource.Execute and performing SQL Queries to navigate your dataset?? I would recommend this method to anyone who is having issues with the RecordSet object in their ArcPad Scripts in ArcPad 10.2 Hannah 🙂

Attribute tables are not able to be displayed in ArcPad in the field. If you need to review your data before checking it back into your geodatabase, you can open your AXF in ArcPad Studio. Right-click on the layer you want to view and select 'Show Data' from the menu. This will open your attribute table in ArcPad Studio. This is a great resource as the top of the dialog can be used to execute SQL queries. This can help you to identify any errors in your data eg. misspellings, junk data, null values. Hi Greg, If you have not already checked on the Customizing ArcPad Help online it can be found here. This is your #1 best resource for ArcPad Studio. The ArcPad Object Model is also your friend 🙂 Study it closely to see exactly what ArcPad is capable of! It is included in your ArcPad installation here: All Programs>ArcGIS>ArcPad10.2>Developer Help. You are able to use Python to script in ArcPad only if you are running on Windows Desktop. If you are running your project on Windows Mobile devices, then you will need to use either JScript or VBScript. You should be able to enable/disable your form controls by changing the 'Enabled' property. This property is supported by the CheckBox, ComboBox, DateTime, DomainField, Edit, ImageBox, ListBox, RadioButton, Slider, and SymbologyField controls. Try attaching a script to the 'onChanged' event of a second control and use it's value to set the 'Enabled' property of your form controls. Hope this helps, Hannah 🙂
