I have done just what you are asking about. The process that I use is to map a graphic using the XY coordinates. Add whatever attributes you'd like to that graphic. Use the graphic as input to a geoprocessing service which will append the new graphics to existing data. It works really well! Ken

Hey Kelly, I'm not running it locally - I just clicked your fiddle link. I've tried it in IE8, and nothing renders at all. I tried it in Firefox 18.0.2 and only the basemap renders. It does seem to work in Google Chrome 24.0.1312.57, showing a generic icon, but it doesn't seem to show any real image. Should all points have the same generic green hill, blue sky, white cloud icon? Ken Hey Kelly - I think I found part of my problem as to why your sample doesn't render quite right for me... My employer has blocked "dropbox" content on our network - inspecting your service, it looks like all of your images are stored on dropbox - so all I see is a generic image symbol... Ken

Depending on the number of locations you have the simplest approach would probably be the 'photo layer' option. Here's a jsfiddle that shows this approach: http://jsfiddle.net/BR5mD/ Hi Kelly, I tried out your sample, but it didn't appear to do anything. It just displays the basemap. I'm not sure that your feature layer is rendering properly... am I missing something? Thanks, Ken

I wonder if it might have something to do with the charts that load in your popup for that layer? Ken

In the latest sample "Create a map", the syntax still is dojo.require("esri.map"); should be require(["esri/map"]); ? I'd agree that it would be nice if the ESRI samples all followed the require(["esri/map"]) way of coding. For folks that are new to the javascript api and dojo - they might be learning the former way of coding their apps... then they'll have to start all over learning the upcoming new way... just a thought. Hey Mark, I'm really not fully up to speed with attachments and storing rasters in fields... but I think the attachments tools that I pointed you towards the other day might be your best direction at this point. I think they perform the same as what you are currently doing, but instead of storing the rasters in a field in your feature class, I believe they get stored in a field in a table that is related to your feature class - in a one to many relationship. If I understand correctly, your setup now will only allow a one to one relationship, unless you created many different fields to store rasters in. The attachment tools will create the relationship to the related table for you. This is the direction that the current ESRI samples have gone, using the attachment editor. You might have to reconstruct the work that you've done thusfar, but it might make it easier/better in the long run. Ken

You might take a look at this old javascript api sample from a few years ago... This sample utilized the old ArcPhoto add-in, and if I recall correctly, there was some code for pulling rasters out of a field in your geodatabase and including them in your application's info window... LINK Ken

Read up on attachments in ArcGIS 10.1 here It explains that attachments are stored in a separate table to allow for a 1 to many relationship. I think the 8867 might be referring to the id of the attachment in the related table... Ken

Hi Mark, I haven't looked into this very far, but you might look at some of the "editing" samples such as this one - here This sample, and a few others in the editing section, allow the user to add/view/delete attachments (photos, documents, .pdf's, etc.) You might explore this option for maintaining your photos... Adrian, Check out the sample found here: http://arcscripts.esri.com/details.asp?dbid=15706 This was developed way back in the early days of the ArcGIS Server Javascript API. It's an awesome sample which allows you to create all types of graphics (including text), changing the colors, fonts, etc. When you draw the graphic on the map (or add the text to the map), it creates the javascript code at the bottom of the map. You copy and paste that code into your mapping application... Hopefully this helps give you a starting point... Ken

Not really - it was adapting these examples http://help.arcgis.com/en/webapi/javascript/arcgis/demos/toolbar/toolbar_draw.html and http://help.arcgis.com/en/webapi/javascript/arcgis/demos/toolbar/toolbar_edit.html to allow users to change the style of the things they are drawing - the current redlining tool in ArcIMS allows them to define the style as they are drawing, but not to change it afterwards - so that is my baseline to achieve - my goal is to allow them to edit a set of layers (point, line, polygon, annotation) which then gets stamped with their AD name and filtered when it is displayed so only they can see it. I probably will have attributes that define the style - so a field called "Colour" and a pick list of a dozen or so. For the my users that'll be enough, it isn't a massively used feature, but one they will moan about if I replace the old ArcIMS tool with a new one. Cheers ACM Hi Adrian, You might look at the sample at the following link - pay particular attention to the "Draw Tools." http://stlouis.esri.com/apps/exportmap/ This sample allows users to draw points, lines, and polygons, and to select the color of each graphic from a dropdown list. You could add a handful of colors to the dropdown list for your users, and then possibly save the drawings to the users computer using HTML5 like this sample: http://help.arcgis.com/en/webapi/javascript/arcgis/demos/exp/exp_localstorage.html Ken
