When building a storymap using the sidecar layout and turn on the navigation feature, the navigation bar doesn't work. I've put in headings, but they don't appear. When I publish, the navigation bar disappears altogether. When I hover over the bar in Edit mode, the gear doesn't appear, either. https://storymaps.arcgis.com/stories/facf8e097fa240fa8e60368c9b7c20dc

I made a new page and added the Dashboard URL in an iFrame layout. It's in the menu under More pulldown.

Oh! I didn't realize I was supposed to make it a page. I thought it was just for administrator information. I've created a new page, but don't see how to add it. Can you help me?

I just launched my first Hub last week, but the Dashboard isn't working. All of the areas where data should be say "There was an error in chart generation." https://gis-day-2020-garza-echs.hub.arcgis.com/ Lori

Owen, this is the link I found on our accessibility rules site: Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 When our director talks about the scrolling design, is he referencing the reflow from 1.4.10? Or the reference to navigation in 2.4? Why would he need to "audit" the maps? So many new rules...thank you for your help, Owen! Lori

Hello! I used Storymaps for a webinar presentation yesterday, but have run into an accessibility problem that I have to resolve before I can share it. Although it passed our WAVE (web accessibility evaluation tool), our digital communications manager told me: "One of the issues I’m seeing is that the format is built around a scrolling design that changes the page view frequently depending on where the user is on the page. I’ll have to spend some time really digging into it to make sure those changes are announced correctly." He also said that he's going to have to "audit" the embedded maps. Can your team help me overcome these hurdles? I really want to ditch powerpoint and move exclusively to Storymaps. Here's my storymap: Citizen Science for Everyone Cheers! Lori

Hello, a couple months ago I came across an article about two graduate students who took William Bajjali's textbook, "ArcGIS for Environmental and Water Issues" and adapted the ArcMap activities to ArcGIS Online. Of course I can't find it again and I'd like to contact the students. Thanks for your help! Lori

I found the new Citizen Science Solution in the State Government section, but it is a perfect tool for student projects on our campus that is a Certified Wildlife Habitat. Is it available for use with a K–12 license?

That's so weird! It just doesn't load at all, no matter how long I stay on a page or refresh it. Thanks for letting me know -- I'll keep searching for the gremlin in my computer. I appreciate your help! Lori

Hmmmm... the story map should be public. Try this short URL: ArcGIS StoryMaps I'm using the Guided Tour template. See the attached image...that grey box in left corner should be a map. I stumbled across the public policy problem while researching options for a faculty member...but I'm not as concerned about that. The story map problem popped in the middle of designing this story map. Lori

I was editing a new story map, but now the map no longer appears in Safari – I have to switch to Firefox. Small problem, I know, but rather irritating. (ArcGIS StoryMaps) When trying to see maps in the Living Atlas Public Policy site, it's all just blank. I've attached a screenshot... I'm using Safari v 13.0.5. It all worked until just a few days ago. Thanks in advance! Lori

Where do you work and what is your role? I am the sustainability coordinator at Mountain View College in Dallas, Texas. I am also a PhD student in Urban Planning & Public Policy at the University of Texas at Arlington. What GIS success have you had this year and what product did you use? Our college hosts an Early College High School on our campus; in January 2019 I obtained an ESRI K–12 license and launched a GIS Project where students are learning ArcGIS Online by mapping how climate change is affecting our campus and community. They are also using Survey 123 to do litter surveys and are working on simple geolocation storymaps. What is your expertise (GIS related or not), and how can that help the community? Personally, I'm still an ArcGIS novice but am determined to become proficient; I want to introduce GIS in the classroom whenever possible and utilize it in my urban planning research. I found an article on crowdsourcing a storymap the other day and definitely want to use that for a city-wide high school project. We'll also be starting on our campus tree inventory in September. So many cool tools, so little time. My favorite place can be found here. 41.099777, -80.674909

I have run into this issue with every Storymap I've created, but I discovered a work-around. Open the photo in a simple photo editor – I use Preview on my Mac. Rotate the photo 90 degrees and save. Rotate it back and save again. Works like a charm.

The photos I'm importing into my first Story Map are turning 90º counter clockwise. Workaround: On my Mac, I opened each image in Preview, rotated the photo 90º & saved it. Then rotated it back and saved again. Now it appears correctly in my Story Map. 😉
