Hi, Using Arcgis Pro 2.4, I downloaded world imagery using the take map offline button on the map page. I selected 1:9000 for tiling. After the download completes I am unable to view the .tpk in Pro beyond 1:25000. I have tried manually setting the visibility in the layer properties to 1:9000 but I still can't see the base map when zoomed in. Exporting this project to a mobile map package supports display while zoomed in using explorer. Same goes for adding the .tpk to collector. Something I am missing? b

I like your suggestion Dan but I am also drawn to seeing a solution that is built into ArcGIS pro, probably as an extension to functionality of ArcGIS Pro tasks along the lines of what Kory suggested. I don't want to have to remember to open a second program to see where I left off, I want to see a splash screen when I open ArcGIS Pro that reminds me of the tasks that I have remaining on a specific project. In addition to using the tasks feature, which seems like a logical extension of its current functionality, I see we could apply Kory's suggestion via the metadata editor for specific maps. But here again, there is currently no way to get the messages I type there to pop up automatically upon program start, which would be real nice for serving as a reminder. Thanks

Hi, I find myself wishing that I could create a simple "note to self" in arcgis pro when I am working on a big project that takes many sessions to complete. What I am imagining is that just before I close a project I create a note that summarizes where I left off so that the next time I open the project I am reminded of where I was at and what steps I need to accomplish next. I can imagine other uses of a notes tool in arcgis pro to support storing for later questions about analysis and general brainstorming things that pop into my head while I am working on GIS. Is this currently available? If not, where do I suggest such a feature be added? Thanks. b

Thanks again Mark, I would be happy to provide more detail on our planned uses for this data - generally three primary audiences: youth thorough a map heavy place-based curriculum, hunter-gatherers in rural Alaskan villages (hence the blueberry, devils club, salmonberry, hudson bay tea, deer and salmon maps) and land managers (both data acquisition and ground-truthing/environmental monitoring. Would it be possible to arrange a phone call to consult on how we would use explorer within these scenarios? I would really benefit from a solid orientation so that I can see more clearly how to use Collector with Explorer and AppStudio apps to build out a functional system. Following that orientation, I would be happy to write up our case study and share with others. b

Hi Mark, thanks for the help. I was able to use that method to get a map package built for explorer that includes my project's vector and raster data. It was pretty tedious because I have 15 rasters in the project and each requires that I make a .tpk. Additionally, I think there is a bug in the software because I was unable to queue all these layers up and let them run. When I did that, most of the tpk files did not display the correct raster. Works fine if I wait for each tpk file creation process to finish before I start the next one. Sort of interestingly, I have had the same problem with Tilemill in the past. Is there any way to retain the legend for the raster in the mobile map package? What is the benefit of making these raster layers basemaps vs just regular layers? Do you foresee layer transparency control coming to explorer? Thanks again. b

I feel like such an idiot and that this should be easier. I tried separating my vector and raster layers into two maps, then exporting TPK of raster map (includes several rasters), then added the TPK to the vector map, but only one raster of the many showed up.... Do I have to somehow export all my rasters as individual TPK files now? I do not see how to export a single raster layer as as TPK without uploading to arcgis online, which I am trying to avoid because I do not always have an internet connection. Is there a straightforward set of instructions for how to get my own raster layer to display in explorer without downloading from the internet?

Hi Again, Joel. I am a bit confused. I started out with the MMPK file but it did no work because of the raster layers. Are you saying that there is a way to create an MMPK then import individual TPK files into the MMPK? b

Hi Joel, thanks for the help. Is it possible to load a .tpk to my ipad using itunes file sharing? I really need a solution that does not require internet to get started so I can do this kind of thing while out in the field. I tried copying a map tile package for my project using file sharing but I do not see anything in either explorer or collector and wondering if this is supported or if I need to do something different. Thanks again. b

Hi, I just uploaded a mobile map package, then downloaded to my explorer on an ipad. When the download completed it was labelled as an invalid map and when I tap to open I get this message: "unable to open map the package is required to be unpacked into individual files before use". I also tried loading the mobile map package using Itunes. I got the same message with that one. Here is a link to the package. https://ssp-community.maps.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=bc7959d403824b769d176d7b764c44a1#overview Please help. b

Hi Xander. The habitat data is in a raster form. The Zone data is a shapefile of watersheds. I have two columns in the habitat raster that indicate values in 1980 and 2018. Logging took place from 1985 to 1995. Logging does not zero out the habitat value, but it does reduce it so this is reflected in the 2018 column of the attribute table. The change in habitat is derived by subtracting 2018 values from 1980 values. I have been struggling with zonal statistics and how to get it to work for me. Does the info I provide above give you what you would need to help me with what steps I need to take to develop a table showing the summary changes in habitat value by watershed from 1980 to 2018? b

Greetings, I have creates a deer habitat value raster that includes numeric fields for habitat values "before logging", "present condition" and the change in habitat values between the first two. My project area includes 14 watersheds and I would like to use these watersheds as zones for comparing the sum of changes to deer habitat values for each watershed. I have tried the spatial analysis tool "tabulate area", using the watershed polygon as the zone layer, and the change in habitat values as the class field but that did not work like I was hoping, or I do not know how to make use of this new table so that after I join it to the watershed polygon I can classify using graduated colors to compare the sum of changes to deer habitat for each watershed. I attached the table mentioned above in case that is helpful. The column headers indicate the change in value and the cells indicate the area. I think I can get what I want using excel by multiplying the heading value with the area value and then summing for each watershed but I was hoping to do this calculation completely within arcgis pro. Any help will be appreciated. b

Greetings, I have a couple questions about calculating fields in an attribute table. First, is it possible to automatically store the expression used to calculate field in the metadata (or does this already happen and I just do not know how to access these records?) so there is a record kept for how fields were calculated? Second, is it possible to store an expression in a field in such a way that allows for the field to be recalculated when data that the expression pulls from changes?

Hi, I recently created a web app and shared it with everyone. I then followed the instructions on this web page to embed the web app in a google site. I can't get it to work and would appreciate some help. I will copy the code I am using based on instructions below. I have had success embedding a web map and web app in the same site using the URL method, but not the web app using the html code method. Maybe the URL method is all I need but I am still curious why this is not working for me. <style>.embed-container {position: relative; padding-bottom: 82%; height: 0; max-width: 100%;} .embed-container iframe, .embed-container object, .embed-container iframe{position: absolute; top: 0; left: 0; width: 100%; height: 100%;} small{position: absolute; z-index: 40; bottom: 0; margin-bottom: -15px;}</style><div class="embed-container"><iframe width="550" height="450" frameborder="0" scrolling="no" marginheight="0" marginwidth="0" title="HNFP Vegetation Mapping Products" src="http://ssp-community.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=915c0271460142f8b1aab36598a9c2df"></iframe></div> Any help appreciated. b

Hi Carmel, Thanks so much for checking in. I think I have worked things out. Your feedback was helpful. I have been choosing the option to automatically cache but I guess that does not insure that it actually gets built by the process initiated in arcgis pro. I have also been getting hung up by the "split web layer" requirement for projects with multiple layers. I am wondering if it is possible to choose split web layers as the default? I have a follow up question too - I am hoping to share a point file that includes links to photos from the field. Any tricks or tutorials on how to get that working? Thank you. b
