We have a service that 2 instances of the ArcSOC.exe are running around 480 MB and the other 3 for the same service are running around 150MB. Has anyone ever seen this before? Just wondering why this may be. There is a join to a SQL table on the map service, but there are other services setup the same way that all the instances are relatively equal.

Michael Thank you for this! So we should be able to upgrade our installation of our desktop version to the latest version as everything that is incorporated in 10.1 between 10.5 should be incorporated. We were told we couldn't upgrade as that was the last supported release. But from what I am reading from you it should be forward compatible which makes sense to me. We will discuss with our developer. Thanks

That would be my next step is to contact the account rep, but sometimes it is easier to ask on here. The account rep will just have to contact a utility expert and I thought some may be watching on here to answer the simple question of can custom tools be compiled with the newer versions of ArcGIS desktop and have full geometric network functionality supported.

We are having troubles with inconsistencies since rolling up to Windows 10 on new computers. In reading the following article we are under the impression that we have to stay at desktop 10.2.1 to be fully supported for geometric network functionality. Update on ArcGIS for Desktop 10.2.1 for Utility and Telecom Users Are we reading this correctly or can we update our custom tools and desktop to the latest versions of desktop so hopefully some of our windows 10 computers stop having problems with desktop. This is a limiting factor as most new PC's are coming with windows 10 and desktop 10.2.1 does not state that it is a supported platform. FAQ: Is Windows 10 certified with Esri's ArcGIS products? We have a lot of custom tools for telecom that are still compiled with 10.2, and we are just wondering if these can be compiled with a later version and be fully supported as functional with ESRI?

I would vote that android handle the search of a domain like IOS. If you want to search on something then you select the filter window. When you are in a domain it completely fill out the screen with the domain. The android 10.4.2 on a small device is very inefficient with this virtual keyboard active all the time. I am even seeing when you hit the arrow key old domain popups are staying active and the field you are on just pops up on top. Our field workers are very frustrated with this.

That was it. I thought I had all the layers cleared up in the webmap, but I had to turn all layers on to find out that there were others referenced with HTTP. Thanks that was my fault. I am just wondering why this is happening. When Load up the web app builder it shows the security error in the upper right. In the console a See the following mixed content error: Mixed Content: The page at https://servername/appname was loaded over https, but requested an init.js:140 insecure XMLHttpRequest endpoint http://servername/arcgis/rest/info?f=json'. This request has been blocked; the content must be served over HTTPS. Its making a called to the 3.18 api init.js on line 140, but I don't know how to control this. The application is secured with the latest SSL, but this call is causing the icon to show up on the right. The new chrome is really stringent on what it is accepting. It seems to accept it, but users are questioning the icon.

What I am trying to do is sort the list widget based on a date field in the joined table. In the preview when setting up the widget it shows correctly, but when I save the widget it shows No Features. If I sort on any field in the GIS feature class everything shows as it should. I can add fields from the table to display in the widget, but I cannot sort on the external table. What do I need to do?

Yes you have to use integrated receiver . That is the only way I can get GPS to be active at all with the latest collector for ArcGIS. I have no idea how esri is getting it to work otherwise with this many people having the same problem.

Sounds good Matthew. I still believe that esri should state to use the integrated receiver settings on the links from above if you are suppose to set it to integrated receiver for all compatible devices. You can set up a connection in Collector for ArcGIS for the R1, but the GPS will not work. As long as I am getting good GPS I really don't care but you have to turn up your accuracy settings so it will accept 16.4 feet, which would not be acceptable if this is what the GPS is really returning to the device. Thanks for the clarification and I am glad that others are experiencing the same things so this will be fixed in future releases.

I am using a Trimble R1 also. I would say there is a bug in the communication between the receiver and collector. I to cannot get GPS to function when choosing the Trimble Receiver. The only way I can get GPS to function is use the integrated receiver. Then in the accuracy down at the bottom of collector the lowest I could get the read out to display was 16.4 ft, while GNSS status read 13 in. and my actual repeated shot locations are 6" to a 1' horizontal residual on a known control monument.

Is there any other business systems running on the server? We have a similar setup to you guys and we never see an issue with CPU. We did see some stability issues when we were running SQL and ArcGIS server on the same machine, because SQL would try to chew up all the memory during a cache process and there would be memory contention. We just throttled back the max memory consumption in the interim until we got a new server for SQL to off load that load. The only instability that I have seen is from the above, or the javaw.exe ArcGIS server process that runs and grabs a bunch of memory that will bring a site to a crawl. This has not been an issue since upgrading to 10.3.1. All of our instability is due to memory consumption, definitely not CPU intensive unless a cache process is taking place. We never have issues with allocating more instances to a service within the means of our allotted memory on the server, we are even starting to increase min instances on our popular services to the max that ArcGIS server statistics have shown spun up at any one time. All of our services have a max of 40 which is higher than I have ever seen used by any one service as one of the old ESRI guys Tom Brenneman mentioned in his blog to allocate as many instances as possible to each service for best performance. He has a lot of server knowledge The GISTom blog

30009: Composite locator will be copied to the server Desktop » Mapping » Publishing map services » Technical guide for map services » Prepare window messages The composite locator you are going to publish will be copied to the server. Solution Do nothing. The composite locator must be copied to the server. More Information If the participating locators are stored in a folder or geodatabase that is registered as a store, only the composite locator, not the participating locators, will be copied to the server. To learn more about managing service data in a server, see Copying data to the server automatically when publishing and Making your data accessible to ArcGIS Server. Peter This is an ArcGIS 10.1 help document, so it looks like the composite locator must be copied to the server, but it is just a pointer to the other locators so it is really not a heavy load. There were a ton of changes between 10.0 to 10.1 just in the framework of how services are setup and the publishing process.
