Please remove the limitation that blocks custom widgets in Portal 10.5.1 on public facing apps. We have purchased Gold Partner widgets to serve content to the public that we have now found we cannot use. If you cannot remove the limitation of loading widgets from external sites (i would prefer a warning as opposed to a complete block), it would be acceptable to at least allow widgets that are hosted on the same domain as portal.

Derek, Thanks for the clarification. For us this is really a show stopper. We bought and paid for a WAB widget from one of your Gold partners, to deploy functionality to the public through Portal. And now we can not use it in Portal. I understand the security concerns as it does load scripts from an external site, but for even for widgets I am host on the same site, on the same domain? That should not be a security risk. Edit - - Even downloading the app doesnt work. I apparently was still logged in. We get a message that states "Widget is not useable, it is removed" dlaw-esristaff This is completely unusable. Your Partners are selling widgets we cant use. This is a huge issue. There has to be something we can do.

Robert Scheitlin, GISP Here is the link Add custom widgets—Portal for ArcGIS | ArcGIS Enterprise Hopefully dlaw-esristaff can chime in. this doesnt bode well for custom widget development. I have found i can download the app and the custom widgets function normally, however this is far from ideal.

We have been advised that headless users are a violation of the terms of service. Have you heard otherwise? The problem with this, regardless, is that a link would take users to the login page, and a public user would have no idea what the login was.

So we were very exited about the added functionality in Portal 10.5.1 to allow custom widgets through Web App Builder. We own two widgets from vendors that we were finally going to be able to deploy. Caution: It is not recommended to share the custom widget item publicly. For security reasons, a public app will not load the custom widget when anonymous users access it. Further, an app will only load the custom widget that is registered in the same organization as the users who have permissions to access the app. And then we hit this. Is there anyway to bypass this? We HAVE to be able to deploy this anonymously to the public, that is THE ENTIRE POINT OF PORTAL. This really seems like a way just to monetize the whole ecosystem, am i supposed to buy and manage named users for all 300k citizens that my portal supports? I understand there is a security risk, but i should at least be given the decision or warned, not forbidden. Anyone? Robert Scheitlin, GISP Rebecca Strauch, GISP Kelly Hutchins

All, We recently upgraded portal to 10.5.1. All our editing apps that are based on templates broke. New apps can be created with editing fine, as soon as that app is exported to a template and launched the edit widget no longer loads the edit templates (developer tools shows credentials is null, and cannot getUser from null, even after logging in to service) Here are my steps, can someone with a 10.5.1 Portal and an on premise AGS using token security Create a feature service with security (not single sign on) Register that service as an item in portal, not saving credentials (prompt every time) Create a webmap using that service Create an application (using web app builder) using that webmap Add the editing widget and configure it Save and launch the app. Log in At this point, everything works and the app works (including the edit templates loading) Now go back Web application in portal Choose edit application Under the save options, export as template In portal, go to the template in my content Click view application Verify the edit templates still load (mine do) Back in my content, create -app- using a template Select template and create web app Preview edit widget in config interface, verify edit templates load (Mine still do) Click launch At this point, edit templates no longer load when the Edit Widget is open Yes i have a ticket open with support. Was just hoping for as much info as possible. Yes i rolled back and reupgraded (from 10.5). Thanks in advance

I am having this problem after updating from 10.5 to 10.5.1. I also cannot use the edit widget in previous configured apps based on a template (although it works fine in config, just not after launching). Can not create any new wab apps. Any ideas? When i click ok, the window goes away, i can not click it again

The main problem with this is that generates a new appid, which breaks existing links. I need a way to update the app, in place, without deleting and recreating it.

Ok, to be blunt, that's just dumb. Whats the point of using a template if its static and changes don't propagate? If i change the "configurable items", those changes propagate.

So maybe I am not understanding how the templates work. I built a template in Portal (with a blank bookmark widget in it). I then went into Portal and created a configurable app based on that template. I then went back to my template and added a bunch of bookmarks (configured the widget). I re "export as template" and choose the update option. It says the template updated. I then go back to my app, but the changes do not show up. Other changes (such as which items are configurable) do propogate, but widget configurations do not seem to. This is the main reason would would use the template, to add new default widgets, to configure widgets, etc.. Am i using this wrong?

Thats a huge bummer. We purchased /acquired a few widgets (Pictometry, etc.) and not being able to use those in a template is a major issue.

oh, rats. i assumed it would just loop through the list, and present each parameter as a choice based on its settings. Bad assumption i guess.

I am having trouble adding a custom parameter ( not a customtextelement) to the WAB print widget. I have added To my arcpy script, and published it. However when i load the script as the path in the WAB 2.4 print widget, i get And the user cannot set the new parameter value. The ?json response of the script does include the parameter, so i can't figure out why it doesnt display. It also does not display in the WAB print widget config dialog { "name": "Script", "displayName": "Script", "description": "print test", "category": "", "helpUrl": "http://www.mymanatee.org/arcgis02/rest/directories/arcgisoutput/printing/Script_GPServer/printing_Script/Script.htm", "executionType": "esriExecutionTypeSynchronous", "parameters": [ { "name": "Web_Map_as_JSON", "dataType": "GPString", "displayName": "Web_Map_as_JSON", "description": "print test", "direction": "esriGPParameterDirectionInput", "defaultValue": " ", "parameterType": "esriGPParameterTypeRequired", "category": "" }, { "name": "Format", "dataType": "GPString", "displayName": "Format", "description": "format", "direction": "esriGPParameterDirectionInput", "defaultValue": "", "parameterType": "esriGPParameterTypeOptional", "category": "", "choiceList": [] }, { "name": "Layout_Template", "dataType": "GPString", "displayName": "Layout_Template", "description": "layout", "direction": "esriGPParameterDirectionInput", "defaultValue": "staffmap", "parameterType": "esriGPParameterTypeRequired", "category": "", "choiceList": [ "staffmap" ] }, { "name": "Output_File", "dataType": "GPDataFile", "displayName": "Output_File", "description": "print test", "direction": "esriGPParameterDirectionOutput", "defaultValue": null, "parameterType": "esriGPParameterTypeRequired", "category": "" }, { "name": "Include_Attributes", "dataType": "GPString", "displayName": "Include_Attributes", "description": "include_Attributes", "direction": "esriGPParameterDirectionInput", "defaultValue": "False", "parameterType": "esriGPParameterTypeRequired", "category": "", "choiceList": [ "True", "False" ] } ] }
