This is all possible with before begin statement, you just need to build the conditions that must be TRUE before BEGIN. I've done something like that before, I just can't seem to find it now....try just after insert, drop the update.

I have a suspicion: after running "placing the resultant Feature Class into a File Geodatabase and then calculating fields in that same Feature Class", do not close Pro, open Arc Catalog, connect to the FGDB, do you see the feature class and the result of the calculation?

AFTER INSERT, UPDATE AS BEGIN SET NOCOUNT ON; IF UPDATE ([SHAPE]) BEGIN will only fire your trigger if a new feature is added, or the shape is edited (e.g moved). It will not fire on just an attribute edit.

A few more details would help, how are you creating the project, are you "Saving As", was this a project created in 2.1? Folks on GN might be able to help, but your quickest path might be tech support. FWIW, I'm not able to get that error.

Just to add to the din, it could be some web based management thing, where an org can manage all of their licenses, but then some ESRI magic manages the license server on the back end, and all we have to do is tell folks to get their license from LICPROV.BIGFOOT.COM. Just to clarify, this is not a request to take away the ability to stand up a license server inside the firewall not connected to the outside net. That will always be a requirement.

Another problem is that ESRI is pulling the current online help (e.g. 2.1.x ) as soon as the new version is released (e.g 2.2). All of the online help now references 2.2, when most people, due to IT policies, will be using 2.1.x for quite some time. Not sure where the assumption that everyone upgrades instantly to the new version came from...So when 3.0 comes out, or 9.0 (the version that will finally achieve ArcMap Equivalency) and there are substantial changes in how a tool or a workflow performs, what about those folks still using 2.x? And no, per the current help, installing the Offline Pro Help is not an answer, solution, or workaround. With Arc Map we could rely on, for example, writing an SOP with hyperlinks to say, the 10.5.1 Help Topic on Publishing a Feature Class to Arc GIS Server (Don't forget to add your user story and vote to https://community.esri.com/ideas/12258 !). Now it's suggested that I get IT to perform the additional and unnecessary step of also having to install offline help, which I can't link to from any documents.

Dan you and I know what release notes are, but I'm concerned about the future, when Pro is on every ones desktop, and the day a new version is released, the online help for the previous version disappears. That's going to be a real problem for those many (most) organizations where IT isn't rolling out software updates the day they come out, in fact, not rolling out every software update. Casual GIS users aren't going to pore through release notes to figure out why all the buttons in the help are different than what they're looking at.

It appears that the online help is now for 2.2. What happened to the 2.1.x help? I still have folks using 2.1.x 'till 2.2. is approved for the network (long time). With Arc Map help, there's a pick list thingy so you can pick the version, why does the Pro help not have that? Is the 2.1.x help archived somewhere? There are subtle, yet, confusing to 2.1.x users differences between 2.1.3 and 2.2 when, for example, a 2.1.3 user is looking at Take a map offline—ArcGIS Pro | ArcGIS Desktop and sees a description of how to take tiles offline, yet that option does not exist in the version they're using.

Due to the global (slow) performance issues with Pro <-> SDE, we have to keep "Show Details Panel" checked off, otherwise simply clicking on a SDE feature class in Catalog View turns into a go grow, roast, and grind the coffee beans wait. So when ever I need to look at metadata, I just right-click on the FC and select "View Metadata". Imagine my surprise when, after "Viewing Metadata", the next FC I clicked on (where I had no intent or desire to look at metadata) presented a wait opportunity where I could grow a different flavor of coffee bean (to roast, grind, and brew) while I waited for the FC Properties to open. Huh? Why is the Details Pane open? That's why it's taking so long!!! Lookee there, the "Show Details Panel" is checked. Wait a minute, I never check that. When ever you right-click on a FC and "View Metadata", I guess the developers figured you always want to view metadata, which is the exact opposite of what a user would expect when unchecking that option. I only want to view metadata when I right-click on something and select "View Metadata". That option should not be checked unless I put the mouse in the box and check it, which will never happen. I shouldn't have to uncheck that option every time I choose to right-click on something and look at metadata.

I feel your pain, Pro <-> SDE is painfully slow in every environment I use it in. Unfortunately, it's not going to get solved on the internet, and you're going to have to call tech support. I have a current Pro/SDE performance case open, and we're really down in the weeds with SQL Traces and Wire Shark logs.

What is the version of all the software involved? SQL including what SP and CU level, GIS Server, SDE, how was the service published, did this happen recently after publishing or after editing? Recent windows update? What is the storage type (geom or geog)? Can you download the underlying feature classes to a FGDB and run check geometry? What happens when you reorganize the spatial index? Can you do a spatial query on the layer in SSMS and does it return results? I have two suspicions: corrupt geometry, or corrupt SQL. You hope its just geometry....
