What settings are you using for the Main Stage? If you use Fill it should behave as you expect. I'm guessing you are using Fit currently, let me know otherwise

You are welcome, I took another look and your swipe story looks good but the URL you used to embed it, is telling it to open the builder mode (which require authentication) as it include '&edit' Replace http://nkua.maps.arcgis.com/apps/StorytellingSwipe/index.html?appid=9b962facbd8643b2a74330752a2dfa01&edit by http://nkua.maps.arcgis.com/apps/StorytellingSwipe/index.html?appid=9b962facbd8643b2a74330752a2dfa01 and it should works

You don't need to host all the apps that you are embedding in your story, we typically just suggest you only do that when you need to customize them, so you still get ArcGIS Online regular updates for them. But you can do that for sure. It seems that your Swipe application is not loading because it's either not shared publicly or one the webmap(s) or layer(s) it includes is not shared publicly. Unfortunately when you embed application we are not yet checking that those embedded applications are also shared appropriately. We have a tool on our website that makes it easy to check that kind of situation, My Stories | Story Maps if you locate your Swipe story it should tell you that something is wrong and help you fix it. Hope this helps

Yes both are doable. To modify the behavior of the picture panel, look at that file map-tour-storytelling-template-js/CrossFader.js at master · Esri/map-tour-storytelling-template-js · GitHub this is where you will want to add your switch button and handle the event. That component is instantiated by map-tour-storytelling-template-js/PicturePanel.js at master · Esri/map-tour-storytelling-template-js · GitHub but you should not need to edit it. For zooming the map to a different location for each point, adding the location to the CSV is great for data management. Then you could use the following events GitHub - Esri/map-tour-storytelling-template-js: The Story Map Tour is ideal when you want to present a linear, place-ba… to know when the app is navigating and use app.data.getCurrentGraphic().attributes.getOriginalGraphic().attributes to access that data, create the extent and then use app.map.setExtent to zoom the map

Hi, We don't have plan to allow to convert a story from one app model to another yet. But we hope to allow that one day and also think there is a big use case to convert back and forth between Journal and Series. As of today you will have to recreate it manually or if you are a developer you could modify say the Map Series application to understand the data model of Map Journal. We don't have much documentation about that but we are thinking about writing some so let me know if you are interested. What we were thinking was to write a blog post explaining how to feed a Journal/Series programatically so we can extend that a little and talk about how you can read say a Journal so you can convert it. Yes to your second question, you can create a Map Series where each entry showcase a different location through this option in the settings:

You are welcome, glad you figured out and thanks for your feedback, I will think about adding a note in the documentation about clearing browser cache (also note that when the developer tool are open, your browser cache is not used, so reloading the app will make your changes to always show up (open it using F12 on Chrome on Windows))

It seems to work for me, I just created a Map Series without customizing anything, when I go to settings>Theme I see the following I edited the following line and I see the changes map-series-storytelling-template-js/config.js at master · Esri/map-series-storytelling-template-js · GitHub Your issue could be that you have a different theme selected in settings, for example if you have the second theme selected, you would need to modify that line instead map-series-storytelling-template-js/config.js at master · Esri/map-series-storytelling-template-js · GitHub I am not sure about the panel showing when there is no description. When you are in the editor what do you see, do you see the placeholder If you see it, I would need to see your app to diagnose more. If you don't see it and instead see nothing, it must be that there is an invalid character or white space somehow, you should try to delete it using ctrl+a while focused on the editor.

Besides protocol not matching, there is another reason embedding a website in a StoryMap may fail. Some website explicitly disallow to be embedded by using the following web server configuration The X-Frame-Options response header - HTTP | MDN It looks like this is what's happening for meetup.com, in there case they are only authorizing embed from pages on meetup.com. Unfortunately there is no convenient way for builder to diagnose that but we are going to work on giving tips inside the builder when this happen. In the web developer console you can see the following error

Hi Simon, Thanks for reporting the issue. We are currently discussing how to fix this, there is a related issue (from a technical point of view) open in the support system for this: BUG-000092958. I will try to keep you posted here as we move on that. From now unfortunately I don't know of any simple workaround. I think your only solution as you suggested is to download and host all the apps. My diagnosis is that, as the application is embedded in a frame it can't reuse the user identity that has already been acquired in the main storymaps so the application that is embedded will attempt to redirect itself to the sign-in dialog to acquire identity, this process cannot be completed as the sign-in dialog does not allow that sign-in in a frame. We are discussing where a modification should happen, either in apps or sign-in dialog to make that use case works.

Hi Jim, Sorry about the issue, this is a bad regression from last release. I have documented it on GitHub at Main Stage actions: back button isn't displayed when the action is loading a web page, image or video · Issue #59 · Esri… and included workaround that I hope will help you until our next release that will fix the issue. That release is currently planned for June 13th.

Glad to hear Martha. Unfortunately I don't have such a documentation but I will work on that for next release. Here is the couple of rules that I have in mind: - to style your html, you can't use the style property, you have to assign your element a class like <p class="p1">foo</p> and then use a style tag <style>.p1 { color: red; }</style> - not all HTML tag are supported so far, main one not supported is the span tag, I will try to fix for next release. To replace it you can use <div class="inlinediv">foo</div><style>.inlinediv{ display: inline-block; }</style> - all standard HTML properties should be supported except the style property that we can't support for technical reason, there is no plan to add support for it in near future - the div tag is supported but the p tag should be preferred when possible as it's the editor prefered tag. Note that using div tag inside p tag and vice versa is known to cause issues - if when you save your section, a tag is not supported, the tag and it's content will either be deleted or the content may be conversed and replaced by a generic p tag depending on the context. When using new tag you want to be careful and save a copy of your markup - there is no limitation in term of CSS rules that are supported in style tag - the CSS rules created with style tag are global to the whole Journal so you don't need to duplicate them in every section - if you want section specific rules, you can use something like .section:nth-child(2) .p1 { } to target only the section section Regarding changing line-height, it seems that using line-height: 20px; is working for me

Your issue is due to the theme you have selected, with the default theme there is no issue but with the black one and maybe others it seems that you have to force the font color to make sure the dropdown default is visible. I will look into fixing that issue, from now you can add the following markup in one of your section to fix it <style>
select[name="menu"] {
color: black;
}
</style>
