So the Pro 3.1.1 arcpy.management.CreateMapTilePackage at hangs, skips levels as it is trying to generate a simple map tile package for a county-wide flood zone layer. The Pro toolbox tool does the same thing at this release as well. The map and data layer are web mercator, the tiling scheme is 'online' so it can just use the standard esri/google/bing levels of detail. Doesn't seem to matter if I define the extent, or use an aoi - I've tried both. I developed a 'replace' workflow for my existing hosted tile layers at enterprise 11.0 and Pro 2.9 - both of which worked fine.

Here's another one - the overview page for my hosted tile layers is not displaying the overview page since the move from 11.0 to 11.1. I can see the item overview just fine in the portal content sharing rest endpoint, e.g https://mydns.scgov.net:7443/arcgis/sharing/rest/content/users/user_name/ . . . anyone else at 11.1 experiencing this yet? Thanks, David

We are thinking of an in-place upgrade from 2016 to 2019. Our sys admins report that an in-place upgrade from 2016 to 2022 is not recommended. Our thinking that regardless, we would probably follow what @BillFox is saying - simply just stop the windows arcgis server / portal / datastore/ exe processes and run the updates.

Thanks @Scott_Tansley - that is why I do it - to help the community and others avoid pain if possible and to just add to the overall understanding. To me, this is the point of the geonet forum. It's great when we can get answers but its just as important to understand what is working, not just what is failing. As far as our web server goes, I didn't really consider it 'exceptionally' large, but we do use it for hosting a lot of dev edition WABS, virtual directories, and setting up php to pass pictometry credentials, so we did build in some size. BTW, I thought I read that of the 2 new required web components, one of them was not yet compatible for Windows Server 2022?

Ok. I wish I could be of more assistance. I am not seeing an increase in RAM or CPU usage. I do have many traditional map services running from the federated site, along with about 25 image services. Most of the traditional map services are running in the dynamic shared instance - of course that's not a web adaptor issue.... per say

Hi @ChristopherPawlyszyn - I can report that our migration to 11.1 has so far been successful, I have not encountered (thus far) any issues with web adaptor(s), IIS, portal, hosting site, datastore(s), federated site. Unfortunately, reported BUG-000152126 " truncated *.log files being written to/added to the C:\ root " does persist at 11.1 for Federated sites with an Image Server role.....

Happy to report that there are no issues sharing items with groups via that pro arcpy sharing module or via the arcgis api for python item.share method. I too show 'no groups to share with' via the items' page. I may move ownership of some groups from my portal admin login to the portal admin account, depending how long this goes @MarleyGeddes @NicolasGIS

I have just completed my upgrade from 11.0 / 10.9.1 to 11.1 and can tell you that through Monitor I can now see we have increased the w3wp process count on the web server from 2 to 5. We have a distributed deployment on Windows Sever 2016 VMs all 8-core, 32Gb, with the exception of the web server which is at 8-core 16Gb. The web server currently hosts 3 web adaptors for Portal, Hosting Server Site(2-machine), and a Federated Server Site(2-machine). I am assuming at 11.1 the additional components for web adaptor - the hosting bundle and web deploy 3.6 are spinning up w3wp processes but I don't know. I completed the upgrade Saturday 5/21 9 pm EDT, so today is the first weekday under load.

Hi Jamie, long time no hear from. Sounds like you have basically orphaned the gp service. For the federated servers' directories folder, for the gp service do the service items still exist in the .....directories\arcgisjobs\gpservices folder? I still have some old gp services showing up there, like an extract data task, like this: L:\directories\arcgisjobs\gpservices\extractdatatask_gpserver

Yes @ZachBodenner - I would say you are reading that exactly right. In fact, for my impending upgrade this weekend, I had our system admins do exactly that - increase my D:\ drive space to accommodate the 2.5x free space

Although there are MANY changes and requirements, updating ssl certificates and re-configuring user / identity stores is not among them. BUT, this how-to document https://support.esri.com/en-us/knowledge-base/how-to-upgrade-to-arcgis-enterprise-11-x-000029452 recommends not directly upgrading directly to 11.1 from releases more than 2 versions behind, and you are 3 versions behind. If you can do an interim upgrade to 10,9.1 first I would do so . . .
