Well, I would say that, for new installs of Enterprise and Portal, that installing the WA after you run through the post-upgrade is exactly right But for upgrades, the WA should be uninstalled, or at least unregistered, from Portal first. Same for Server.

Great, thanks Scott. I always thought it didn't really matter, especially with fully distributed deployments. After all, whether portal or server, we can always unregister / register a web adaptor after installs / upgrades. Now I'm back in the step 3 camp, since that's what I know. . .

Hmm, ok Marcelo, thanks for the reply. Up to and including 11.2 I have always uninstalled web adaptor for portal and server prior to running the portal and server setup exe's, per the help docs. I did just now notice that at 11.2 the web adaptor un-install / install steps are documented as to be completed after the post-upgrade for portal. Some of us had problems with content and language being un-available to the portal after the 11.2 install, and now I am wondering if the web adaptor for version 11.1 should have been left in place while the 11.2 was upgrading and post-upgrading. So for this 11.2 to 11.3 upgrade, I will leave the portal WA at 11.2 in place per this new documentation. For Server, I don't think it matters for the un-install install order. But - I have always un-installed the WA prior to Server setup exe upgrades, and will continue to do so since the Server help doc does not specifically say not to.

Hello - In prepping for the Enterprise 11.3 Portal upgrade this weekend, I just now noticed that the step for the Web Adaptor Uninstall - Re-Install has been moved from Step 3 in the upgrade documentation for 11.1: https://enterprise.arcgis.com/en/portal/11.1/install/windows/upgrade-portal-for-arcgis.htm 3. Sign in to the machine hosting the ArcGIS Web Adaptor you're using with your portal, and uninstall ArcGIS Web Adaptor. For full instructions, see the uninstallation topic for IIS or Java (Windows). Be sure to note the name of the Web Adaptor before you uninstall it. to Step 9 in the latest upgrade documentation for 11.3: https://enterprise.arcgis.com/en/portal/latest/install/windows/upgrade-portal-for-arcgis.htm 9. So in other words, we are now supposed to leave the 11.2 web adaptor version in place on my web server until AFTER we run the Portal upgrade and post-upgrade steps? I've done this so many times since 10.6 and we have always removed the web adaptor BEFORE running the Portal Setup.exe. Can anyone comment? @MarceloMarques @A_Wyn_Jones @JakeSkinner @ScottTansley Thanks - David Sarasota County GIS

I am prepping for 11.3 install this weekend. As I understand the Note: section of the install documentation the .exe.001 file only needs to be in the same directory as the .exe setup extraction file so that the the .exe file can complete the extraction. As far as I can tell, the .exe.001 file simply contains the install files, cabs, etc. Once setup.exe et al are in place we are good to go.

Not really @DavidLight - we basically did the double hop that @BillFox mentions and everything was seamless. We went from 2016 - 2019 and then from 2019 - 2022 with no loss of applications, etc.

Not sure I understand, but I am prepping to upgrade 11.2>11.3 next week. Why would the ArcGIS Servers' framework jre care what flavor the cpu is on a given windows VM?

Hi - for the Issues address list link coming from the latest 'What's new in ArcGIS Enterprise 11.3 at: https://enterprise.arcgis.com/en/get-started/latest/windows/what-s-new-in-arcgis-enterprise.htm the 11.3 Issues Addressed List still brings up the 11.2 Issues Addressed List. Can anyone fix? Thanks, David

I would agree with both @JakeSkinner and @berniejconnors - our Federated site is a 2 machine cluster, 8 cores each. So for the site, I have the dynamic mapping service pooling set to 8 number of instances, giving me 16. But you shouldn't set the number of instances it can use to more than the number of cores you have. So as a rule of thumb for the dynamic service, I would publish no more than 30 simple map services services to the shared instance. In practice, I have about the same as Bernie, 15 -20 or so simple map image services. As for the warning about the dynamic service crashing, I do not see that very often and since there is not much I can do about it, I just ignore it. The service recovers and I move on. I use Monitor, and for my any of my shared or dedicated instances, I can see the % saturation. If I were to see one of my shared instances using up to like 75%, I would consider moving that instance to dedicated. Otherwise, that might be or maybe could be the cause of the dynamic map service instance crashing. . .

Hello - ArcPro 3.3 seems to be unable to create an address point (point address role) locator when data source is from a network share using the Create Locator geocoding tool. My address point layer contains about 300K address points, is projected in Web Mercator. It's a simple build, in place since 3.0, and I build new locators at each release. No problems through 3.2.x. Here, when I sourced the data from a file gdb on my local drive, i.e. (C:\StageDBs\ProdWM.gdb) the build took place in a little over 6 minutes. When over the network share: (\\. . .StageDBs\ProdWM.gdb) the tool is hanging on step 'Processing Point Address role'. All share and read\write permissions are in place.

I am happy to report that there is a solution to this! In working with support last night we were able to perform certain queries and updates to certain tables contained in the the portal gwdb, all via the postgres command line interface. The updates will remove and then add languages, and upon completion of the workflow, the English language pack is fully available, thus enabling (for us) the Instant Apps template and config pages, as well as restoring Map Viewer Symbol symbol categories. I cannot speak to a re-gain of the Esri Basemaps content as we did not lose that part first reported here by @ShelbyZelonisRoberson I am not able to relay what we did exactly, but anyone affected by this should be able to work with their support analyst now to affect this repair. Support cannot yet say whether the fix will be included as a patch for 11.2 now or as part of the 11.3 release (or both) - they just don't know yet. FYI the Instant App issue for the Sidebar app does still exist, where the 'Sidebar' has become a "Footer' and the Filter tool is non-functional, and some other css issues, so looking forward to 11.3 for this fix, @KellyHutchins @ThomasColson @StevePoladian
