As those field values are not being maintained currently when published as a hosted feature layer, they must be getting cleared out on publishing. I presume this may have been intentional so that people don't think that the values are correct. We are working to enhance this behavior to support these values in a hosted layer. Thanks, Mike

Yes, group layers are not maintained. Each layer in a feature layer is an independent layer. Thanks, Mike

I'm not an expert with how Esri Maps for Office works... The basemap is what sets the coordinate system for the map. So the behavior you describe of "switching back to British National Grid" is the expected and correct behavior. This is independent of the type of the service (WMS, ArcGIS Server). You are also correct that AGOL will target the REST endpoint even if you add a layer via the WMS URL. Its more efficient and has greater capability. AGOL can do this because it supports both types of services. Thanks, Mike

OK, let's remove collector from the issue for a moment. Can the user able to see the items when they visit the group the items are shared with from the arcgis.com website? One thing you wrote that confuses me: When I check the other user's items, The map and the data are not visible. To be clear, the shared items will not be shown in their "My Content" view, if that's what you are thinking... Mike

So you are adding a reference to a service on your arcgis server to your My Content? And it works in your personal account but not in your organizational account? The only thing I can think of is that your organization has SSL enabled (My Org, Edit Settings, Security tab). If your org is HTTPS and your ArcGIS Server is http, requests can get blocked by a browser because they are not https. Thanks, Mike

No, there is no way to hide this option. It's an interesting suggestion. I see this as an organizational setting. When you configure your own template group, there could be an option to show/hide the web app builder. I'll write this up as an enhancement; no guarantees it will be implemented though. Thanks, Mike

AGOL doesn't support making copies of the data. A few things I can think of...you can allow users to download the data (via exporting it from the item) and publish it themselves. Or alternatively, you'd have to give them the source data for publishing directly (e.g., a shapefile). thanks Mike

The results get created and stored in the cloud. However, feature layers have an option to export the data, so you could download it from the cloud to get it locally. thanks, Mike

Is the service published to your ArcGIS Server? Is the source data stored in a geodatabase? Are you sure the field had a value when you published it? (I have heard of other bugs where the field in the geodatabase is not filled in; search geonet for shape.len). The shape.len field is created by the geodatabase and managed as part of the geodatabase. If you export it to a different format, like a shapefile, I'm not sure what gets written out, but the field will not be maintained in a shapefile if the data is edited. Also, if you were to publish from ArcMap to a hosted feature layer, the field is also not currently maintained. Thanks, Mike

This looks like the request gets sent, but the response is what would contain any errors. Are you only having problems with one feature? Or are you unable to edit at all? If it's just one, it may be that particular feature. This is a little hard to debug in the forums. You might want to call our Technical Support and have someone help. We would need access to the service and try to make and edit and see if any errors appear. Mike

Jason, I think you are encountering a current limitation. But you should still be able to draw the layer with its multi-layered symbol... If you want to draw multi layered line symbols, then you need to access the map service. I tested this out with my own server by publishing a line layer that uses a 3 layered line symbol in ArcMap for "expressway" and it drew correctly in the ArcGIS Online map viewer. On the service, I configured it for the "best" anti-aliasing. If you access the feature service or an individual layer of a map service via it's index, complex multi-layered symbology is not supported. This is because how the layer gets drawn. With map services, the layer is drawn by the server and returns an image to the client. The server draws the complex line symbol in much the same way ArcMap would. When you access a feature service or individual layer of a map service, the server returns the x,y coordinates of all features and relies on the client (web browser, mobile device) to draw it. These features get drawn as graphics on the client and the clients have pretty limited drawing abilities. This is why you only get a simple line symbol. We are looking at ways to improve our client side drawing (SVG, Canvas), but this is a work in progress. So in the mean time, you'll have to rely on the map service to draw such symbols. Thanks, Mike

If you have chrome (other browsers have similar), click the "burger" icon (3 horizontal, parallel lines) to the right of the address bar, click More Tools and click Developer Tools. In the panel/window that results, click the Network tab. This will show you all the requests that get sent. You'll see the responses to requests, which may contain error messages that don't display in the app. Mike
