A view layer and its source feature layer can only be owned by the same member. Jim can create a view layer from his hosted layer and share that view layer publicly. As long as editing is disabled on the view layer, nobody will be able to edit. Yet, Jim is free to edit the source feature layer. No republishing is required and the view layer will reflect any edits made to the source feature layer.

Popups have evolved a long way since the original post. Unfortunately, I have not evolved with it :-). However, I would imagine that you could write some arcade code to do what you want. Perhaps this help topic will point you in the right direction. https://doc.arcgis.com/en/arcgis-online/create-maps/configure-pop-ups-mv.htm#ESRI_SECTION1_F5CB09E0313A4DA1BD10F18D875FFC3F

@kstone_ntia I have been able to reproduce your problem transferring ownership of items. The problem is specific to attempting to change owner from the Content tab. We will apply a fix in the next few days. As a workaround, you can go to the item details page of an item and change ownership there. Not ideal because it's one at a time, but a way to do it until the fix is in place. Thanks for reporting the issue.

Public account users can only join groups owned by other public account users. Organizational account members can only join groups owned by other organizational account members. Thank you for your feedback. When we improved the user experience for the Groups page, we determined that the Organization page Members tab provides the best experience for adding members to groups. The large page size, search and filter capabilities on the members tab allow for selecting the right set of members. The Manage group membership action allows for filtering groups by group characteristics, then adding or removing all selected users from each group. Here's a help topic that will describes how to access this from Organization-Members tab Assign members to groups We are still open to feedback on whether the Organization page Members tab experience can be improved or access from the Groups page is important for this functionality. We will address the discrepancy in the documentation in our next update. Thanks, Mike

Hi It isn't really feasible for AGOL to specifically auto hide layers due to lack of access. The challenge is that AGOL doesn't know why the layer returns an error. In your case, when someone else looks at your map who doesn't have access to your layer, AGOL doesn't know that the layer exists but that this person just doesn't have permission to see it. To AGOL, from the perspective of that other person, the layer doesn't exist. Thus, AGOL can't identify layers with errors due to sharing differences. Map Viewer does check when saving a map to ensure that all layers are shared the same way as the containing map. This should help alleviate layer sharing problems for the intended audience. thanks!

Hi, With a public account, you can upload smaller CSV, GeoJSON and KML files directly into Map Viewer as shown below. You can also reference many layers via a URL. If you want to upload your data and create a hosted feature layer, you'll need to purchase a subscription. Click the Pricing tab to see the options available to you.

An administrator of an organization can change the owner of an item to another member in the organization, but can't transfer the item to an account outside of the organization. However, for an item like a map that is accessible by another person, it is possible for that other person to do a "Save as" to make their own copy of the map.

@RyanBohan The Add button defaults to browsing for layers already within arcgis online. If you instead click the dropdown arrow, you'll see the same options, as @jcarlson posted via the plus button.

The 'Review Sharing' window alerts you to layers in the map that may not be visible to your intended audience. Commonly, this is because you're sharing your map at a particular level or to groups that the layers aren't also shared with. This appears to be your case based on the image you attached. All layer sharing can be updated to what the map is shared at when you click 'Update sharing'. You can also check the sharing level of each layer in the preview pane. Just click on a layer. The figure below that highlights the current share level of a particular layer displayed in the pane. However, the preview pane doesn't go into great detail about the difference in sharing between the map and each layer. There are other cases that this window will alert you to. For example, you won't be able to update the sharing level for layers you don't have permission to update. Another alert informs you when you're sharing a map publicly that contains living atlas layers that require a subscription to view. These kinds of messages are displayed much more prominently, as highlighted below. Can you expand on what additional information you'd like to see here? Is it enough to know that layer sharing will be updated to be in sync with the map's sharing? I suppose we could display the specific sharing changes that will be applied to each layer, but is that useful? It could be quite detailed, particularly if your map is shared to a lot of groups that the layers aren't.
