I need to add a layer to a map I have already created. The map is hosted on AGOL (and turned into a web app) consuming a service from my in-house installation of ARCServer. This is all on version 10.3.1, all data is from File Geodatabases. When I insert a layer on the existing MXD and overwrite the Service the pop-ups in the web map/app are all shifted down one for all layers below it. (So if you click on, for instance, Zoning , the pop-up will display information from Overlay Zone (which is one layer below it in the table of contents). The data above the newly inserted layer displays correctly. Most of my maps are (and will continue to be) living documents with data added and subtracted as requested. I can’t be rebuilding them every time someone requests a minor change. I'm hoping I'm doing something wrong and this is not a *feature* of web maps. Thanks, Tycho

.Anyone else having this issue? I was (barely) able to create my custom schedule, but I can’t pull up the “my schedule” at all. I’ve tried Firefox, Chrome, and IE with no luck. I remember I remember there being issues with it the last time I went to the conference as well (2014) there being issues with it in 2014 as well (last time I went to the UC

Well, it has now worked for three days (being opened and closed multiple times) on two different machines with two different logins, so I’m going to call it good. I would love to have changed just one parameter at a time (from the reply above) to figure out exactly what the problem was. Unfortunately, now that it works I need to move on to the next project so it will always be a bit of a mystery. Thanks for the help and suggestions, Tycho

Only our Lidar data is on a NAS. I don’t think too many users (I have 13 in total) are hitting it yet as it's a recent addition to our library. What I’ve done so far is – Changed the path from absolute to relative Changed the labeling from MapLex to the standard engine (there were just a few that needed that) Changed the Lidar layerfile to 10.3 (I have a few users still using 10.2, they will have to keep using the old one). This template is just for a 10.3 user, so I’m not concerned about the change (I kept the old layerfile, of course) I’m testing it on three different logins on different machines. At this point it appears to working, though I will bring it up once or twice a day on each machine for a few days before I call it good. I will keep you posted…

Our data is on network drives (we don’t do backups of local drives, and people get upset when their hard drive crashes and all of their data is gone…). I added this layer file to a map that I then copied over to another staff member’s template directory (the default C:\Program Files (x86)\ArcGIS\Desktop10.3\MapTemplates). I normally do use relative paths; for this one I changed it to absolute. I will change it back to relative and put it on a couple more people’s machines to test. I will let you guys know how it goes. Thanks, Tycho

It's buried pretty deep, though this happens on simple (non-grouped) layer files as well. I clipped off the bottom portion of the projection parameters (it's not a custom one) - - End of images

Hi all, I have a layer file that loses the path to the source on some files (in other words, you get the little red ! next to the layer in question). In the case this morning the source path was still there and correct. I just clicked on “Set Data Source” and clicked the feature class that it was already pointing to and it worked. All of the other feature classes link up correctly – even ones that are in the same File GeoDatabase. This layer file was created yesterday. I’m using ArcGIS 10.3.1 on a Windows 7 machine. Though this has happened sporadically back through at least 10.0 – it is just annoying enough now that I figured I’d put out a query. Thanks, Tycho

When I add a hyperlink field into a pop up, the URL is replaced by a "More Info" alias. I'd like to change that string to something else ("See Planning Department". or "Kilroy Was Here", or whatever). Is that stored somewhere I can get at with the stock AGOL map builder or am I going to have to get into the code? Thanks, Tycho

I need to disable my user's ability to spend credits while using AGOL or connecting via ArcGIS Pro. I'm not seeing any obvious method in the manager. I suspect I'm missing something obvious.... Thanks, Tycho

Thanks for your help, guys. Hopefully this will help the next newbie that stumbles into this. It looks like i was formatting the findAndReplaceWorkspacePath incorrectly. It appears that just changing the server name is not enough; you have to have at least part of the old and new paths as well. As all the data and directory structure was copied onto the new server I thought all I needed was to substitute the new server name for the old one (so from Homer to HomerB in my case). As soon as I changed the string to a real path - layer.findAndReplaceWorkspacePath(r"\\WC-HOMER\Shared\GIS", r"\\WC-HOMERB\Shared\GIS") - everything works as advertised

I tried variations of that for the last couple of days. I got rid of all the nifty for-in loops and lists. It's down to this - #Modules
import arcpy
lyr = arcpy.mapping.Layer(r"\\WC-HOMER\Shared\GIS\2N15E.lyr")
lyr.findAndReplaceWorkspacePath("WC-HOMER", "WC-HOMERB")
lyr.saveACopy(r"\\WC-HOMERB\Shared\GIS\2N15E.lyr")
del lyr If I don't comment out line 4 I get the error ValueError: Layer: Unexpected error I've tried using various strings for line 4, including (r"\\WC-HOMER", r"\\WC-HOMERB"). At this point I'm almost out of hair to pull...

I've got 65 layer files (both normal and group ones) that need their data sources changed. I got the following script to work for MXDs (which is good since there are several hundred): HomerString = [list of mxds with paths]
for bob in HomerString:
mxd = arcpy.mapping.MapDocument(bob)
mxd.findAndReplaceWorkspacePaths("WC-HOMER", "WC-HOMERB")
NewString = bob.replace(r'\\WC-HOMER', r'\\WC-HOMERB')
mxd.saveACopy(NewString)
del mxd But I cannot figure out any variation of it that will work for .lyr files (and I did look at code snippets, help documents, and Google before posting here) Any ideas or solutions out there? Thanks, Tycho

Is there a way to display a scale ratio instead of bar in AGOL? I published a service (from ArcServer 10.1) from an MXD with labels that turn on and off at different scales. They look fine in my MXD but don't quite do what I want in the AGOL map viewer. If AGOL displayed the scale as a ratio it’d be easy to re-set the MXD values and republish. With just the scale bar it’ll take several iterations of random tweaking and publishing until I get what I need. Thanks, Tycho
