In the current Map Widget for ArcGIS Experience Builder, your choices for setting the initial zoom scale are to either use the web map's setting or set a "custom" zoom with an interactive map in a modal window. Zooming in and out goes by the basemap's preset zoom levels and there is no way to enter a custom scale or "zoom to layer" to get a custom extent that fits your unique geography. I would like to have a way to set a custom extent, either by zooming to a layer's extent and/or by entering a custom scale.

I believe this is a crucial addition that's needed across all Esri products! The preset zoom scales are often insufficient especially when trying to adjust extents to various northeastern states in the U.S./at regional levels. This leaves us relying on bookmarks and other work arounds to get the correct extents on standard sized screens.

@James-NYSDOS-OPDCI I'd be curious to know what workaround you're using with bookmarks!

Hi All,

Now, for 2D maps, you can limit the scale range that users can zoom to. It has been released on ArcGIS Online in February 2025 and will be released on ArcGIS Enterprise 11.5.

The map bar or bars show the level of detail(LODs) of the basemaps in the connected maps.
