This should be easy... I need to connect to a share (for example \\WC-ESRI\Shared\GIS), not as a mapped drive (for example S:\). Pro seems to want to use drive letters (which obviously won't work in an enterprise GIS) so I guess I'm missing something? Thanks, Tycho

It feels like a permissions error, but I can't tell where. I'm using the account that is used for all of our public-facing apps on our Portal. I'll try a different admin-level account and see if that works as a test... back soon. 6/25/2020: Nope, didn't work. 7/9/2020: Figured out why it didn't work, fix will be long term with our IT staff. In sum, Embedded web map hosted on our Portal (not the one on ArcOnline) fails to display in FireFox and IE. (Chrome is fine *). IE does not show an error, FireFox logs (only fatal errors shown): -------------------------------------- Cross-Origin Request Blocked: The Same Origin Policy disallows reading the remote resource at https://machine and port/arcgis/rest/info?f=json. (Reason: CORS request did not succeed). Cross-Origin Request Blocked: The Same Origin Policy disallows reading the remote resource at https://machine and port/arcgis/rest/info?f=json. (Reason: CORS request did not succeed). ------------------------------------- * Chrome does not work if accessed through VPN/TeamView. We found an error like this accessing ArcMap awhile back, apparently it affects Portal as well.

I use the same Map Image Layer (and basemaps) to create a web map then copy the code to embed it. The AGOL version works on a web page, the one hosted on our Enterprise does not (it comes up blank, neither layer nor basemap drawing). We have a number of public and private apps that function as they should, this is the first time I've tried an embedded map. The documentation (Embed maps, apps, and groups—ArcGIS Online Help | Documentation ) is pretty straightforward, not using AGOL has tech support stumped. Any ideas? Thanks, Tycho

Months of tech support calls and we got it figured out. There was an extra slash at the end of the privateHostingServerURL value (under /arcgis/admin/security/config) for both Portal and Server. Removing that did the trick. This: .../arcgis/ Should be this: .../arcgis

Nope, no authentication. At one point we had two web adapters set up - one for internal users, one for public. Tech support had us remove one of them when we couldn't get <something> to work (I have sixteen pages of notes with incidents and solutions and I didn't write that one down...). My IS guy thinks it is something related to that.

Hi Cody, Nope, still get the same error. I forwarded this thread to my IS/DBA guy and got this response regarding the port - Hey Tycho, Only ports 80 and 443 are opened up to the public server. If we need to open this port, I'll have to have a conversation with Paul, so we can determine the security implications across the board. Thank you, Andrew

This is a bit past my skillset (and way out of my comfort zone), but if i go in to Server/System Services with the internal URL and submit the job (first image) I still get the same error (second image).

Trying to run the default SpatialAnalysis Tool in Portal 10.6.1. I get the same error message with both web maps and web apps. Both internal and external apps otherwise work correctly (so, basically, they are fine if they don't need to use this tool). ESRI tech support is stumped (though we will continue to try random fixes again next week). And if it helps, pasting the URL directly into a browser does indeed find the page. Thanks, Tycho

I'm creating a project with the option of Map and Scene --> Basemap --> None but need to change the color. Trying to edit FC's with a blinding white background is not particularly fun. The old style of right-click in the data frame and pick a new color no longer seems to work. Hopefully I'm missing something obvious. Thanks, Tycho

Sorry about the long delay in responding, I did a bunch of work with tech support and our IS department. It looks like the problem was that I had the portal web adapter and server web adapter installed on both our internal machine with portal/server installed on it and machine on our DMZ. We unfederated and removed the web adapters on the internal machine, then uninstalled portal web adapter on the DMZ machine, then reinstalled and federated both the web adapters only on the DMZ machine. This actually failed the first time, fortunately we were able to roll back to a recent checkpoint and it worked the second time. I'm Thanks, Tycho

Anyone seen this before? This is from our internal 10.6.1 Enterprise. I built two apps on our Portal and made them publicly accessible from our network. I made Sherman Surveyor with the ESRI Configurable Apps. I made the MCFR one with Web AppBuilder Sherman Surveyor works inside and out: https://public.co.wasco.or.us/gisportal/apps/View/index.html?appid=ffe750d5ce2d44df999149b0b86dad80 MCFR works inside: https://public.co.wasco.or.us/gisportal/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=b561e4d788844cb1a4f7741d71f74761 But from outside redirects to our internal names, giving this: Tech support is stumped. Anyone else have ideas?

Okay, figured out the correct workflow with help from ESRI tech support. The amount of manual editing required seems like a giant red flag, but this is apparently the way it goes. The salient portion of the thread is below. This is for Enterprise 10.6.1 on Windows. ------------------------------------------------ Esri Case #02279751 Hi Kristen, I guess I need a definition of "republishing". It sounds like Initially: create MXD in Testing environment --> create service in Testing environment --> create/modify maps/apps in Testing environment. Iterate until final product copy MXD to Production environment --> create service in Production environment manually making sure the configuration is duplicated from Testing --> create maps/apps in Production environment manually making sure they match the Testing maps/apps If a change needs to be made to an app: Modify MXD in Testing environment --> overwrite service in Testing environment --> modify maps/apps in Testing environment. Iterate until final product copy MXD to Production environment --> overwrite service in Production environment manually making sure the configuration is duplicated from Testing --> modify maps/apps in Production environment manually making sure they match the Testing maps/apps. Is that the recommended workflow to republish services/maps/apps instead of using the copy content and change URL scripts? Thanks, Tycho --------------------------- Good morning, Tycho, Yes, that is exactly the recommended workflow, and what I mean by republishing. I know it can be tedious, but that is the recommended way to do it right. Please let me know if you have further questions. Regards, Kristen Esri Support Services

Hi All, I’m trying to copy services in batch from our development portal to our production portal. Using the ESRI sample Python script (http://enterprise.arcgis.com/en/portal/latest/administer/windows/example-copy-content.htm) I can copy the content over successfully. It looks like the other ESRI sample Python script for updating the service URLs will work ((have not tried it yet, per below) (http://enterprise.arcgis.com/en/portal/latest/administer/windows/example-update-the-url-of-a-service-in-a-web-map.htm) I am not having any luck finding anything that can copy the actual services from our development to production server .I found one tool on GitHub (https://github.com/eea/discomap.ServiceTransferTool) that worked for 10.4 that does not seem to work 10.6.1 (I get the error below, we figured it was a certificate error but they are both valid) The only threads I have found talking about this issue are from 2015 and earlier and don’t seem to have come up with good solutions. It feels like I'm missing something simple/obvious Thanks, Tycho

This should be an easy one. I am adding Map notes to my map using the text icon. Right now the string I add is all on one line. I need to put some sort of linebreak in for multiple rows of text (and no, lining up individual little text boxes won't fly) . Do I need to dump some HTML or Python in? The aim is for my normal staff to be able to use this. Thanks, Tycho
