Can you look at the path C:\Python27 and see what directories are stored there? There might be 2 - one for 32 bit foreground processing and one for 64 bit background processing (new at v10.1). Then check your server's environmental variables and see what the value is PYTHONPATH is. If PYTHONPATH is pointing to the 64 bit version of python (ArcGISx6410.1), this might be the problem as I believe the scheduled task is running the python script in the foreground. ... View more

Try using the Automatic (Delayed Start) option.  That is what my test environment is set to, as my organization is in the process of upgrading to v10.1 (Large enterprise environment with tentacles into numerous non-GIS applications so upgrades are long and complicated). No guarantee that this will solve the issue, but I believe this is the default value as I do not remember modifying this variable after installing AGS v10.1.  I'm thinking that ESRI set this up purposely to be for a delayed start, as it takes time to wake up components of AGS. Also, how often do you need to reboot your GIS server?  I ask because I rarely have the need to reboot my production ArcGIS Server server (maybe once every 3-4 months).  I also have my license manager on a separate server from my ArcGIS Server server, if its the License Manager that requires you to reboot your GIS server often. ... Eamonn: When you say "you upgraded a 3.3 viewer", do you mean that you had widgets working with the FlexViewer 3.3 compiled version and you just copied your config files from the 3.3 viewer to a newer FlexViewer 3.4 compiled version? I ask because I have found that performing this type of upgrade often times does not work.  I need to resort to manually modifying the new 3.4 widgets to match the older version widgets.  This in itself is sometimes tricky as there could be changes to the config files that you also need to account for where the widget was enhanced or the config was changed to make the widget more user friendly. ... Mody: The creation of the overviews is working opposite of what you are stating, by default.  If I go with the default values for defining overviews, ArcCatalog creates the overviews in a folder at the same folder level as the file geodatabase where the mosaic dataset is stored.  I need to change this setting to save the overviews into the file geodatabase itself. Also, when I create the overviews in the file geodatabase, I do not see a directory with the <fgdb name>.overviews in Windows Explorer. ... View more
