In the event that records to fail to send from your mobile device, we need a method for recovering and exporting them, so that they can be appended to the feature layer.

These are the steps for an iOS device

  • Install iTunes on your laptop
  • Connect the device to your laptop
  • Open iTunes, click on your device, and navigate to: File Sharing > Apps: QuickCapture > select the “ArcGIS” folder > 'Save' it to a local directory

  • Within that folder, locate a file with a ".qcr" (QuickCapture Recovery) extension.
  • Rename this file with a ".zip" extension, and then extract the data locally.
  • Within the unzipped folder, find the sqlite database containing the orphaned records.

For an Android device, the process is the same.  However we can use File Explorer instead of iTunes.

This kind of advice is invaluable in a jam and should be part of the product documentation, not just a forum post.  (If it isn't already.)

Seeking information on alternatives for organisations that don't support the deployment of iTunes anymore. Are there other methods of getting a QC database off iOS these days?

@ChrisChris  - I'd get the official word from Esri but I have been able to navigate to the "files" folder on iPhone using this workflow

https://support.apple.com/guide/iphone/find-files-and-folders-iphe4bff8827/ios - navigating to the Files app on iPhone > "On My iPhone" > QuickCapture > ArcGIS > ArcGIS QuickCapture > click on the unique item id folder for your project/user - then "long tap" on that folder > Share - then just email it to yourself or whoever can unpack the data.
