Anyone else having issues with editing in ArcMap 10.6? Currently, my shop uses ArcMap 10.5.1 and I imported our existing template into 10.6. Scrolling around works at a comparable speed but once I start and edit session, everything slows down. Snapping is slow. Mouse clicks response are slow. Everything is slow.
In 10.5.1, we use the Attribute Assistant and Water Utility Network add-ins. I've tried both the 3.1.2017 and 1.17.2018 versions of these tools and both are slow.
I tried a couple different methods to rebuild the templates and editing was still slow.
I've tried the steps on this blog post and nothing helped.
I've cleaned the map cache and set the geoprocessing results management to keep for less than a day.
I've started a ticket with ESRI but was curious to see how many other people were experiencing this problem too.
Support gave me an active bug to follow for updates. Its current status is "In Product Plan."
What is your bug number?
#BUG-000111024
Yes, that is what I thought. I am on a hunch that these folks are hitting the same bug. I'd like to see if they can resource their data as you did, and as always, we want to hear about it at Esri Support so we can get your case attached to this bug.
Is the Bug applicable for only ArcGIS Pro or editing in ArcMap as well? The BUG-000111024: Editing an enterprise geodatabase data on Windows 7 .. mentions only ArcGIS Pro!
Since various people have mentioned ArcMap in this thread, it seems that the bug does not apply to this issue as it only refers to Pro 2.1. Clarification on this issue would be nice.
I would also like to know what the very limited bug documentation means by "...if a matching connection file is not found."
In my testing of Pro with mxds imported into the new Pro environment, the SDE connections work even if the connection files do not exist on the computer running Pro, as the creation of these connection files is not part of the conversion. So does the statement about matching connection files not found mean that the SDE connection files would need to be created in order for editing in Pro to be at the expected speed and not at a much slower speed?
Does this slowness also happen for you in ArcGIS Pro?
I have not had any problem in ArcGIS Pro but I do not use it very often. We use the parcel fabric which has not been ported to Pro yet.
James:
Are you saying that ArcMap displays sluggishness when editing in an SDE database, but the same data (not counting parcel fabric as that has not been ported to to Pro yet) when edited in Pro does not display the same sluggishness and works as expected?
Michael,
Yes the issue is only in Arcmap 10.6, in Arcmap 10.5.1 this does not occur and it does not seem to occur in Pro either.
