@JannatAlasfoor - Hello there! My name is Anthony and I am a product engineer on the ArcGIS for Power BI visual. I was looking over this issue and I would like to help out if I can!
I am having a difficult time reproducing this error in my environment. Would it be possible to send me the data that you are using? Also, if possible, could you tell me the steps you are running through to reproduce this error?
Thank you!
**bleep** Anthony,
Kindly find a sample dataset attached. The steps I follow are:
- I place the "Block no" in the location field of the map
- I place the "Value" in the color field
- I change the location type in the Format tab to "Country = Bahrain"
- In symbology, I change the number of classes to 4 and I set the method to "Quantile"
- I change the color ramp to "Range 4"
- I put two filters on the page: Governorate and Category
- I try to use the filters and all my symbology settings go back to the default values
Please help!
Hello Anthony,
I'm experiencing the same type of errors as reported here when it comes to symbol style: it resets to what seem to be the default settings (color ramp, number of classes, shape size, outline settings, etc.) after the data is filtered in the report.
I share @PeterMau sentiment, it has been quite a few months since ArcGIS for Power BI worked as it is intended to do, it would be great if the myriad of bugs currently in the viz are fixed in a timely manner.
It looks like we're narrowing down how to reproduce the symbology resetting. We'll keep you posted and hope to have a fix.
We made significant changes to the map visual, updating the underlying mapping technology. This was a foundational DNA level change, that unfortunately caused some issues. We appreciate your collaboration and patience as we get all of these issues identified and resolved.
Thanks, Andrew. Please keep us informed!
Hello Andrew,
Is there any update about the issue?
Hi Anthony, I encountered the same issue. The symbology works fine with filter in Power BI desktop, but once publish the report to Power BI Server, color reset whenever using a filter/slicer.
The issue wasn't there before Dec 8's fix.
Another thing is if I use manual breaks or percentile breaks, it resets to natural break when apply filter. it seems using filter will reset the map to default values on power bi server.
Any suggestion or workarounds to address it?
@amy_bns If you're using report server, it may be on the older version. Can you confirm its on 2021.2.95 by hovering over the lower right corner of the map visual?
Yup new update resets the symbology for me too. Last update fixed a number of things but broke another! 😕 The number of bugs caused by (or as a result of patches applied to) the massive mapping overhaul that released a few months ago is just appalling.
