Hi everybody,

I've built a flow in Power Automate that is using the new ArcGIS connector. It works really well when I first build the flow but stops working after two weeks. It works again when I manually re-authorize the connection but I was wondering whether there is an alternative?

Cheers,

Jan

Hi Jan,

Unfortunately at this time we have to manually refresh the connection every two weeks. We need additional support within Power Automate in order for it to leverage refresh tokens to keep the connection active. Until we have this type of support within Power Automate, manual refresh is the way to go. I'm optimistic that we'll see something this year.

Cheers,

Andrew

Hi Andrew,

Thank you for the quick response! I ran into the same problem with a custom connector but found it hard to work out whether I might have missed a trick somewhere as the documentation isn't entirely clear on what's possible. I was hoping there might be a config setting somewhere on the ArcGIS side that might help but based on your response this doesn't seem to be the case.

As far as I can tell atm MS would either need to modify the Generic OAuth2 provider in Power Automate to support non-standard grant types, or they would need to explicitly add ArcGIS Online (or other identity servers) to the list of pre-configured providers.  I added a feature request via the Power Automate community, but maybe/hopefully Esri have a faster way of working this out with MS 🙂

Cheers,

Jan

Within Power Automate you can go to the connections connections and refresh ArcGIS. Its manual but not as bad as having to re-configure the flow.

You're analysis of what needs to be done is spot on and we're hoping to see something like this in 22. We do meet with their dev teams, and bring these feature requests up. Just like any software product, things get queued into a backlog and prioritized. We'll get there soon!

Thanks Andrew, I'm looking forward to this being implemented. In the meantime I agree that manually re-authorizing once a fortnight isn't too big a deal.

Hi Andrew,

I have been dealing with this issue as well and stumbled upon this page. Has there been any updates on a fix for this? Thanks!

Hey Folks, any update on this? My team has noticed that our flows continue to fail due to ArcGIS connectors timing out and needing to be re-established. It adds up to a long list of different ArcGIS connects that gets very confusing, fast. Please let me know if you have identified any solutions beyond refreshing at this point.
