We've produced a map with confidential data within a group in our organization. We'd like to more broadly share a dashboard showing statistical data drawn from that confidential data. Is there any way someone viewing the dashboard might be able to gain access to the base confidential data? Thanks, Scott

This was helpful and allowed me to find the solution. For the sake of clarity, for those to come in the future... Problem: The label expression included fields for "Building numbers" and "Unit numbers." However, labels only appear where there were actual data entries in those fields. Regular addresses [single family home at 123 Main St.] had no labels displayed because there wasn't date entered for either a "building number" nor a "unit number". Those empty fields were "<Null>". Solution: Select all records where "building number" and/or "unit number" were "<Null>. Calculate these fields to fill with blank strings [" "] Voilà! Now labels appear: For all locations, regardless if there are building or unit numbers in those related fields. Locations with building and/or unit info, also have this data appearing in the labels.

This happen to my Pro softwear following a system crash on my terminal. It was the end of day, so I just shut-down and left. Upon return, the locator services weren't visible and not to be found. The solution: Create a new map Check that the locator services are present Close the new map Open the problem map and the locator services were restored.

In our resort city with a residential population of 25k and 11k buildings, our new GIS system more than paid for itself within the first month with what I called our "$500k Map." We're mostly within a regulated FEMA floodplain and were making application to the Community Rating System (CRS) program to obtain a communitywide discount for every flood insurance bill. One of the CRS discount activities was accounting for open space (parks, conservation areas etc.) where development is restricted and calculating the ratio of open vs. developed land. Some deeded conservation lands and have triple credits. Creating this Open Space map allowed us to: Calculate the individual acreage Layer the different credits applicable to relevent parcels Display the differing and sometimes multiple credits Attach to each the qualifying documents Provide the reviewers with real-time digital access The credits resulting from this one map earned us a $500k community wide annual discount. The entire series of credits earned a $3.5m annual discount. This year, we made and even better Open Space map and along with other accumulated credits our annual CRS discount will increase to $5m. The initial three-year GIS lease was $90k. Hence GIS paying for itself within the first month. The ancillary benefits from a public services aspect have been an added plus. Spatially displaying for the public what documents are available for which properties and allowing them to access them 24/7 as attachments. Identifying approved newspaper rack locations, with photos of each attached. Erection and removal of temporary barricades. Fluid inventory of all buildings (resulting in the building shadows now seen on various online mapping platforms such as Google, Apple etc.) Event mapping (booth assignments, road closures, public safety positions etc.) Unified street numbering feeds 911, building permits, planning. Public parking ADA parking identification Detailed damage assessments to qualify for federal disaster recovery reimbursements Cemetery plot data Flood zone identification information Old flood maps New flood map impacts per structure Historic structures identification Ground elevations every 10 feet Bicycle crash location analysis Bicycle rack locations Endangered species habitat areas Political district boundaries Zoning Use of the Collector app to map just about anything in the field using cell phones & tablets. Once you've got GIS capabilities, the list is limited only by your imagination.

Got it! Mike Sweeney, an Esri Solutions Engineer provided the 'solution.' He also offered an option for showing the number of attachments on the map as Map Tips. There were two basic operations that tripped me up before it'd work: Use Arcade Select all or unselect all the features to be field calculate (Dunhh...) Here's Mike's solution... Here is an example of calculating the number of attachments into an integer field which I added to be part of the feature class table https://developers.arcgis.com/arcade/function-reference/data_functions/#attachments Then using that field for the layer’s Display field and MapTips: or

In Arc Pro, is there a way to show within the attribute table, which features have attachments and which don't; without having to open the attachments manger for each feature?

Our GIS staff has been so small we've been working on projects individually. Now we're getting to the point where multipule staff are available to work on the same projects. Yet we're encountering difficulities with file ownership and being able to publish to ArcGISOL using Pro. Because the ArcGISOL files are "owned" by one staff person, only that Owner may overwrite a web layer. How have larger organizations been dealing with this limiation? I'm guessing they're not dependent upon a single person to ensure an ability to publish updates.

I'm designing a brochure to individual property owners and would like to insert a personalize map on each piece based upon the location of their property, such as in the following example... So, much like a mail-merge field, a map of their property would show on the piece. It'd have to be automated, as there are 8k of them to be mailed. Has such a thing been done before?

Oh Sweet! That worked first time like a charm. For you to include an instructive graphic (I am using Pro) was above and beyond. Thank you, Scott

The attached screenshot, shows two flood zones (AE-6 & AE-7). The numeral in the flood zone identifier represents the flood elevation level. Also shown are the building footprints. Using spatial join with the match Option set to "Completely within" easily associated all these buildings with the proper flood elevation, However, when buildings straddle the flood zone boundary line (see selected footprints in the attached graphic), I haven't figured-out how to get the spatial join to identify the proper flood elevation; in this case "7" feet as opposed to "6" feet. (When a flood zone boundary line touches a building to any degree, the entire building is considered in the higher regulated zone.) Any suggestions? Thanks, Scott

Since upgrading to Ver. 2.2.3, there's been a problem with separating overlapping points. When points are stacked, they sometimes can't be separated. The difficulty is selecting/deselecting points so that one can be move away from the other. While the selection can be whittled-down to one point, either the move command won't function or both points (selected & unselected) are moved as a unit. This occurs in different layers. In the attached image, The green circle has two points from the same layer stacked. The red triangle has two stacked points from a different layer. One of the two green circle points and one of the red triangle points need to be moved to the adjacent lot. Working with either layer individually, selecting a point by default selects both stacked points. One of the two is then unselected, leaving one selected point. However, the move command continues to move both stacked points, even though only one is selected.

Seth, When classifying building usage types that are government owned, should we be guided by usage or ownership? For example: Should residential buildings on a military base be classified as "Government" or "General/Residential?" Similar questions would apply with: Public housing (Government or General/Residential) Military airport (Government or Airport) Is there any guidance on applying building types to building footprint data? The questions seem to multiply the more I get into it: Mixed-use buildings - Commercial or General (Typically commercial on the ground floor with condos or apartments above.) Thanks, Scott
