Hi, So what's happening here is you have the 'Try horizontal position first' checked so the label engine will prefer to use that horizontal position (with the spaces removed). The reason you're seeing the label placed curved and spread in the polygon at a different scale is because it can't fit the horizontal label in so is trying the next option (and spreading as far as it can up to your set limit).

I would use this syntax to change font color to blue using vbscript Function FindLabel ( [LOT] ) FindLabel = "<CLR blue = '255'>" & [LOT] & "</CLR>" & vbNewLine & [AREA] End Function

Hi, I'm sorry to hear labelling in ArcGIS Pro isn't working as expected. I would like to investigate this, could you possible provide details on what version of ArcGIS Pro you're using and also the data where you're seeing this font size issue would be most useful. Regards, Samuel Troth Esri

Hi, From your screenshots it looks like the map is set to use the Standard labeling engine, which has a smaller set of available properties. If you go to the map section in the labeling ribbon and click the more drop-down you can change the label engine to be Maplex.

Hi, Sorry to hear your having problems with Maplex placement of labels. A change went into version 3.1 of ArcGIS Pro so that using the Never Remove property overrides the clipping of labels, this should give you the placement you want. Regards, Sam Esri

Hi Kathryn, Sorry for not looking at this sooner. I am still unable to reproduce your issue with labels placing outside the clipped extent, I am using the roads and counties data you kindly provided links for. Does the problem still occur if there are no layers excluded from the clipping? (e.g. The DOT layer you have in your screenshot) Could you possibly provide your mxd and any other data in your map? There are ways of sending this to me directly if you're not comfortable sharing in a public forum. Regards, Sam Esri

Hi @Anonymous User, Looks like this is a bug in ArcGIS Pro. There's no reason that you should need the stacking property enabled for your stacking expression to work correctly. I have logged this as an issue for us to investigate. It seems to be linked to the 'Secondary offset' property, if you could find a way not to use that in your map that may be a viable workaround. I'm very sorry Maplex isn't performing as you would hope. Please get in touch if you have any more questions.

Hi Robert, Apologies for the extreme delay in a response. The solution for this when using dynamic labels in Maplex would be to pad the bottom line with spaces to achieve a equal black background as the top line line. Just be sure to uncheck the 'Remove extra spaces' option in the expression dialog or the spaces you add will be removed. Samuel Troth Esri

It sounds like this is a bug unfortunately. The conversion of Labels to Annotation should be visually identical. The lock labels function is used when you do not want the labels to change when panning or zooming in the map view, it has no bearing on this conversion. I would like to get more information so we can solve this issue, what version of ArcMap are you using? Could you share any other properties you changed on the label class before converting to annotation. Thanks, Samuel Troth Esri

Hi Mustafa, The Geoprocessing tool 'Feature Vertices to Points' should help you here. The tool converts every vertex of every polygon into a point feature. Two things to note; these points are numbered (by ObjectID) in a clockwise direction and the first vertex is duplicated. Hope that helps. Samuel Troth Esri

Hi Justin, It isn't possible to manually move the key number list unless it has been converted to annotation. The list displays the same way as a dynamic label, so would be effected by a weighted area. So excluding those options it isn't possible to move the list away from the other labels with the set-up you have currently. There is another possible solution to your problem, you could use a dynamic table within a layout instead of a key number list. What is the final product you are aiming for? In what way are you sharing this map? Regards, Sam

Hi Majdoleen, There is a setting in ArcMap to define whether or not the labels are allowed to overlap the map border. I think this could be the issue here. The option is accessed from the 'Options' part of the drop-down from your second screenshot and is on the Maplex tab, it's called 'Allow labels to overlap border' Do you have this option enabled?
