We need this capability as well on dashboards: we have a bunch of records with dates and we would like to see those records in a calendar like fashion, making easier to see the records distribution over a day, week, or month, just like a regular calendar.

Yes, this options needs to be implemented ASAP; if by accident you omit one option and then get back to get it fixed, you have to delete ALL elements to just add on on the right order.

Folks, I made a change in ArcGIS Pro 3.5.3 related to the Rendering Engine. Originally, I was using DirectX 12, but I switched to DirectX 11 and restarted ArcGIS Pro. After doing this, I can now copy and paste text elements in Layout mode without any delay. ChatGPT 5 suggested using DirectX 12 only if you have a more recent computer (mine is a Dell Precision Tower 5810). That led me to try switching to DirectX 11, which is recommended for slightly older workstations when you’re looking for maximum stability. This change noticeably improved the speed when working in Layout mode. Give it a try, it might solve the lag issue for you too. Mjss25

Folks, I can confirm that in ArcGIS Pro 3.5.3 this bug is still happening when copying and pasting text element graphics in Layout Mode. It seems to be a known issue, but I haven’t seen anyone mention an official BUG logged for AGP. Honestly, it’s pretty frustrating since this is such a basic function, and it takes about 15–20 seconds every time. Mjss25

Folks, As of today (September 6, 2025), I can confirm that in Connect version 3.23.48 it is not possible to use the dynamic-grid or fixed-grid style in a form and include a custom note. None of them work, except for generated_note_form_title. The others (generated_note_prompt_captcha, generated_note_prompt_submitted, generated_note_form_footer, etc.) do not allow the form to be generated correctly. If you place one of those notes in a form that uses a grid style, the form displays completely blank and cannot be published. I wonder when ESRI will address and fix this issue in Connect. I need this fixed ASAP. Mjss

Guys, I second this idea. It's very important for us to have the mobile dashboard honoring the layer refresh interval, just as the desktop version does. -MJ

@Neal_t_k Aaaaaarrgggg... I really hate when I think something is production-ready, and then—boom—turns out it’s not. Someone changed something that made it look like it was working… but it wasn’t. Here’s what happened. I initially changed the query URL from this: /FeatureServer/0/query?where=", ${now_epoch2},"&orderByFields=Reservation_Date" to this: /FeatureServer/0?where=", ${now_epoch2},"&orderByFields=Reservation_Date" It looked like it was working because someone had updated the schedule and results seemed correct. BUT… after inspecting the request being sent, I realized two separate queries were being executed. (See screenshot below.) Following your advice, I replaced the first ? with an &, like this: /FeatureServer/0&where=", ${now_epoch2},"&orderByFields=Reservation_Date" This time, the request sent only ONE query, with all conditions inside—finally the correct behavior. Still, I wasn't getting the expected filtered results. So I took it one step further and replaced the use of a calculated field with the SQL keyword directly. The final working URL became: /FeatureServer/0?where=Reservation_Date > CURRENT_TIMESTAMP&orderByFields=Reservation_Date (See screenshot for reference below.) Now it’s correctly filtering the records on the WEB; on the app is returning the whole list with no filters. Thanks for letting me play forensic detective on this one! MJ

@Neal_t_k, Thanks for not giving up and suggest a new idea. It worked... with caveats. It worked on the web but not on the app itself. In the Survey123 app, the list shows empty, no records. On the webapp, the list is correctly filtered. Because my project will use the webapp, I can move on like this but surely someone will need this fixed for the app. And for those looking for the straight answer, I changed my REST URL request from: /FeatureServer/0/query?where=", ${now_epoch},"&orderByFields=Reservation_Date" to /FeatureServer/0?where=", ${now_epoch},"&orderByFields=Reservation_Date" Where "now_epoch" is calculated field with the datetime field and a timestamp. @Neal_t_k, Thanks for the suggestion, but is not related to how to build the REST query. When the REST url is bad constructed, the search() ignores the query. See the next screenshot where I wrote the query url using your suggestion: Just one "where" clause from the search() function. But if you build the query url properly, you get this: Two "where" clauses: one from the query url and another one from the search() function. I don't know if this is expected behavior or a bug. The thing is the first "where" clause is ignored and not honored. MJ

Hi all, I’m currently developing a survey in Survey123 Connect, and I’ve encountered an issue when trying to use query parameters in the REST URL within the search() appearance for a select_one question. According to the documentation, it's possible to filter results from a feature layer by adding a query string directly to the REST URL. However, any filter I apply using the where clause is completely ignored. For example: search("available?url=https://services2.arcgis.com/xyzxy/arcgis/rest/services/BoatSchedules/FeatureServer/0/query?where=Reservation_Date > CURRENT_TIMESTAMP", "matches", "ScheduleQuery", ${ScheduleQuery}, "Trip_Type", "Public") This URL returns all records, not just the ones where Reservation_Date > CURRENT_TIMESTAMP. Curiously, when I add an orderByFields parameter: search("available?url=https://services2.arcgis.com/xyzxy/arcgis/rest/services/BoatSchedules/FeatureServer/0/query?where=Reservation_Date > CURRENT_TIMESTAMP&orderByFields=Reservation_Date", "matches", "ScheduleQuery", ${ScheduleQuery}, "Trip_Type", "Public") …the list does return ordered by date, so I know the query string is at least being passed. But the where clause is still not being honored—all records are returned regardless of the date filter. I’ve confirmed that the query works as expected when tested directly in the REST endpoint, so the issue seems to be specific to how the search() appearance handles the URL in Survey123 Connect. I checked the request send by the search() appearance on the browser and noticed two QUERY tags appended to the request, both with the query parameters. See attached screenshot. I guess if this is expected behavior. Also worth noting: the official documentation for search() at https://doc.arcgis.com/en/survey123/desktop/create-surveys/xlsformsappearance.htm#ESRI_SECTION1_46A700D2AABF47F1AE4D5004762DB372 has incomplete or incorrect examples for how to properly structure REST query parameters. This may be contributing to the confusion. Has anyone experienced similar issues or found a workaround? Is this a known limitation or possibly a bug? Thanks in advance! MJ

Folks, This idea was presented on 06-11-2017 - almost 8 years ago - are we sure ESRI is still looking at this proposed idea? Having 389,000 trees on the tropics require a very functional identification methodology. Using RFID and NFC is a must on Field Maps. Almost all modern phones, tablets have the NFC sensor built-in, what is ESRI waiting to implement it? MJ

Folks, I totally support this request for enhancement. Unless there's real reason behind not allowing to paste text, this is totally unacceptable. Defeats the whole idea of having an "Expression builder" where you're limited in the expression you can build. MS

Hi Community, Is there a way to paste text into the Expression Builder edit box? For the life of me, I tried with so many ways, even changing browser to no avail. I'm trying to create an expression to build a send email message. This expression is easily made in any mailto program, but pasting the generated content into the Expression Builder edit box is impossible. And writing down all the escape chars is really annoying. Is there a more quicker way to paste text here? is this a designed feature? Thanks! MS

Folks, This functionality should be implemented so long ago. I just found a post from 2021 where an enhancement request was logged (ENH-000099492: Open Data does not support feature layer symbology and every symbology appears in default blue color.) Still in 2024 and this idea is "Open"... come on guys. This must be implemented right away! MS
