Hi Elaine, Did you ever get a resolution to this? It sounds like exactly the same issue I am having with ArcGIS Explorer and needing to find locations by asset number. Thanks, Helen

Hi, I am also experiencing this. The search is configured in the web map and works in AGOL. I have updated the hint text and this displays in Explorer, but I am unable to search by configured search layers in Explorer. Did anyone ever get to the bottom of this? Also, is it possible to restrict the ESRI Search to one country? I also do not need postcodes from Singapore returned... Thanks, Helen

Hi, I am setting up a Distributed Collaboration between our internal ArcGIS Portal (10.6.1) and ArcGIS Online. We have want to share layers with external partners through a web app. The data is stored in our SDE database and will be continually updated. Everything is fine until I try to use layers with attachments - both layers with functionality for users to upload their own documents to a location and pre-created geotagged photo layers. For the Collaboration to work, sync must be enabled For sync to work, feature classes must have a GlobalID The attachment relationship class must therefore be generated on the GlobalID field Doing this means whilst attachments exist in the attachments table, they are not visible either in the data itself or the feature service, pops up declare 'No attachments found' even though they are there. Has anyone found this? Does anyone know of alternative ways to share layers with attachments externally? Thanks, Helen #distributed collaboration #attachment issue #no attachments found #arcigs portal

Hi, I have also noticed this issue. Area will not work in Web Appbuilder apps built within Portal (10.4) in British National Grid. Those built in WAB Dev or in Lat Long work fine. We can't see any difference in the requests being sent - any thoughts? Thanks, Helen

Hi Sanne, Yes, I did. Unfortunately I don't remember how! From what I can see, the trick may have been to make sure the element in the template had a name (text box properties > Size and position > element name)?

Hi Joe, We too had this issue. We solved it by entering forward proxy settings into /arcgis/portaladmin/system/properties as documented at http://server.arcgis.com/en/portal/latest/administer/windows/using-a-forward-proxy-server-with-portal-for-arcgis.htm We've had other issues since, but this got us part of the way there... Hope that helps. Helen

Hi, Since doing some work at ESRI's request with certificates, and subsequently having to restore our ArcGIS Portal server, no web appbuilder created applications (which is all of them) will finish loading. The map services (hosted on a different server) and base map and widget pull in fine, but the loading blobs never disappear and the app is unable to be used (see attached image). I also cannot create new apps using the inbuilt web appbuilder. I have one app that was created using Web Appbuilder for developers and therefore is hosted differently and this application works. Please help! Helen

Hi Erickson Contract Surveying _ Did you ever solve this issue with feature services displaying in WAB legends? I only have the problem either when symbolising a feature service by category: Or, when I tried symbolising as separate layers, I only get the problem with an outline and no fill: This is exactly the same feature service, just symbolised differently, although, for some reason, the legend text also returns differently. This is proving to be quite an issue as I need users to be able to draw different coloured outlines on a map and be able to print a plan with a legend. Any insight welcomed! Thanks, Helen

Hi Tanu, That is correct. The custom text elements do show up on the output maps, but not in the WAB print widget. Unfortunately the print service is not public. Executing the Get Layout Templates from the REST endpoint returns the correct JSON eg { "results": [{ "paramName": "Output_JSON", "dataType": "GPString", "value": [ { "layoutOptions": { "hasAuthorText": false, "hasCopyrightText": false, "hasTitleText": true, "hasLegend": true, "customTextElements": [ {"Test": "Text"}, {"SubTitle": "Text"} ] }, "pageSize": [ 296.92659385318774, 209.97375328083996 ], "layoutTemplate": "A4_Landscape", "activeDataFrameSize": [ 273.05060000000003, 146.0503 ] }, and the script tool was pointing to the correct folder when I ran it. I have used Fiddler to record the requests and get a 'no entry' sign next to the request in question which apparently means Session was aborted by the client, Fiddler, or the Server. # Result Protocol Host URL Body Caching Content-Type Process Comments Custom 506 200 HTTPS cp-gis-iis.infprod.tca /arcgis/rest/services/Geoprocessing_Services/WorkingTemplates/GPServer/Get%20Layout%20Templates%20Info/execute?f=json 495 private, must-revalidate, max-age=0 text/plain;charset=utf-8 iexplore:3740 I'm an amateur with Fiddler, so don't know how to delve deeper. Having a look in the Chrome web traffic information it seems that the Get Layout Info task is timing out: n {message: "Timeout exceeded", response: Object, status: undefined, responseText: undefined, xhr: XMLHttpRequest…} It does take a long time for the print widget to populate the layout information. I have tried increased the times and pooling in the Service Properties, but to no avail. I have tried publishing different print services, but have the same issue with them all. Have you any ideas what might be causing this and how to solve it? Thanks, Helen

Thanks Tanu Hoque, that's great to know it is possible to easily add custom text elements. However... I am following the steps in 'Tutorial: Publishing additional services for printing' to the letter - I am running the GetLayoutTemplateTask and adding it as a result in Service Properties. The added in elements do show on the maps, but there is nowhere in the print widget for me to manually enter text to fill these elements, which, if I understand your explanation correctly, there should be? I have tried both restarting the existing service as well as publishing a new one, but I still only receive the 'Author' and 'Copyright' options under Layout Metadata, under Advanced. However - I have taken a copy of one of the default templates at Program Files\ArcGIS\Server\Templates\ExportWebMapTemplates, added a Custom Text Element to this, restarted the service - and this works as it should, with an extra text box displaying below Layout metadata, so the issues are only with print services I have published myself. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?? Thanks, Helen

Thanks Michael, That's exactly the tutorial I used to publish my print services and custom templates. However, I need more information on the custom text elements, unless I'm missing something, this tutorial doesn't cover this? Helen

Hi, I am trying to create print templates which enable the user to add more text to a layout than just the title and author. I have added elements to the mxd and named them and tried to call them using CustomTextElements, but do not know how to make the text box for the user to enter the text into appear within the print widget. I'm sure I'm missing something simple?! I am using the Web Appbuilder in ArcGIS Portal 10.4 and also have access to WAB for Developers 2.0. Please help, Thanks, Helen

Hi, I had the same problem - you need to change the default printer paper size on the ArcGIS server to be larger than the paper size you are trying to print: http://support.esri.com/technical-article/000011636 This worked for me, although I have plenty of other issues trying to display feature service layers in my custom print services. Hi Robert, I managed to use your above code to use customTextElements to add in a free text box, as Drew has above, into the print widget in WAB. However, following further customisations (which also were working), I am now no longer getting any free text boxes within the widget, despite (I'm sure) not changing anything. Do you have any suggestions as to what might have changed / what I am doing wrong? Thanks, Helen

Hi, Has there been any resolution for this? I am getting the same issue with feature services when using print services in Web Appbuilder in Portal for ArcGIS - no symbology. Map services work, but this is not a solution as the layer needs to be editable, and preferably dynamic. See below. Support seem to think the issue is at my end, but I've read enough similar posts to think that this may not be the case... Thanks, Helen
