I have been noticing that in versions 2.8.1 and 2.8.2 there appears to be some instability in the ArcGIS Pro GUI especially if you lock your PC or if Windows automatically locks your PC due to inactivity. Usually, this results in part or all of the GUI of Pro not responding. However, the map, layout, and catalog tabs still have some functionality. We can pan and zoom, but not select new tools or resources within the ribbon interface. Sometimes, if an edit session is being used, edit saving will fail and there have been edits lost recently. This seems to happen most often over lunch breaks or absences of 10-20 minutes or more. Our current workaround is to make sure to save edits more often, close edit sessions before locking the PC, and close Pro when you know you will be away from the PC for an extended time. I am just checking the community to see if anyone else has noticed issues with Pro GUI/interface similar to this or whether it is unique to me. If anyone else is having similar issues, I will likely submit a ticket with ESRI to document and maybe track the issue.

I have a web map where I am using an expression to calculate acreage based on the shape area and display this in the popup for that shape. Some of the attributes are editable on the service, but only for editing values (no adding or deleting). This works perfectly when clicking on a shape in the web map. I then created a web application based on the Edit template. When you click on any shape in the application, the Arcade expression is not displayed in the popup where other attributes can be edited. Is this a bug or some limitation of Arcade expressions, popups, and editing within Portal?

It appears that this technical article has been archived. Is there a new process or recommended best practice to relocate datastores on the same PC? Or is this the only option (Move a relational or spatiotemporal big data store—Portal for ArcGIS | Documentation for ArcGIS Enterprise )? Thanks in advance for any new information.

I would like the ability to apply Field Views to attribute tables for feature layers in different .aprx files. I have a data layer with numerous attribute columns that are used by different levels of staff, both internal and external. Setting the visibility and order of attributes takes a bit of time every time this layer is added to a new map. It would be nice to have an export option(similar to style files) to apply a field view style (preset order and visibility) for these attribute columns. So I would have a base style that shows all attribute but ordered specific to my needs. The second would show specific fields in a specific order for internal staff and a third would show specific fields in a specific order for external customers. I envision going to field view and applying the style to control this visibility and order, similar to how symbology can be applied to a feature layer based on a .stylx file.

When I label without expression, it labels the code and it eliminates duplicate labels. The labels are removed regardless of the expression. I just verified this. I also went back to the data and verified that each feature has its value selected from the domain list, not a hand-typed or incorrectly input value. I think it must be a data side issue, since the missing labels are the same regardless of whether the expression is used. This may have been an oversight at the beginning or it could be a recent change ( I have been editing this specific layer this week). I will test if this issue exists on other layers with coded domains or if it is unique to the street sweeping data.

Xander, Each unique color is a unique feature. Each feature is a multi-part feature. I am using an Arcade expression because the attribute that I am labeling by is controlled by a domain. If I do not use the expression, the labels are the coded value, not the text description. I understand that Arcade does not control label placement, but it appears that it is limiting duplicates in this instance for some reason. Not sure if it is a bug or something else. Thank you for providing some information. I will be looking at your link and translating it. Steven

I would like to have the ability to reorder the Lookup Layers in the Lookup Layer tab for the Information Lookup webapp template. It currently orders the layer in reverse order with feature services followed map image services . This makes it difficult to order the layers to show in a logical fashion in the web map that is being used and within the information lookup popup that summarizes the data. Simple drag and drop or some sort of up/down arrow interface would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I have a map image service for street sweeping. Each day of the week has two areas that are swept on alternating weeks. I create a custom Arcade expression [DomainName($feature, 'SweepDay')] to label the Domain value, not code. The proper day is labeled but for only one feature and all duplicates are removed. Can I change the expression or change something else to label each feature and not remove duplicates? The Yellow and Blue should be labeled Friday, purple shades are Wednesday, pink/red for Thursday, etc. Only one label is present instead of two or three depending on the day of the week.

Hilary, The intent is for anonymous users to see the cleanest, simplest view. The anonymous user (general public) does not need access to any feature of the Portal beyond the Web Apps or Web Maps that are available to everyone. Once a user logs in, then they would have access to the other menu items. Maybe this can be tied to the user roles (viewer, user, publisher, etc) and controlled as a permission to see various functions? I was trying to simplify the user experience for non-technical/non-gis users of the Portal. Thanks for taking the time to ask follow-up questions. Steven

Hilary, I had not thought to use Sites for this purpose. It does require the administrator to configure a new page to solve the original idea though. I can see how it would be able to display a minimalist design since the user adds only the content desired. I still feel that my original idea would be useful since you can disable "scenes" already. Just add toggles for the other menu items for a clean approach (change config setting vs create a new site/portal item). Thank you for the suggestion.

I would like to be able to disable items within the top menu on the Portal Home Page(Gallery, Map, Groups, etc). I would like to have a minimalist portal page with only "Home" and "Sign In" options along the very top bar. The following items should be able to be disabled: Gallery, Maps, Groups, Content, Organization, App launcher and Search tool. It would be nice to have a clean portal that looks like the attachment.

Example, I have 20 different unique values to symbolize and I would like to have groups of 2-6 be color ramps of different base colors, like a blue, red and green continuous scheme across 3 selections of values. I can do them manually, but applying a ramp based on a selection of the values would speed up the initial symbology. Thanks.

Our Goal: Take a Lat/Lon in CSV file from GPS device and update the XY on a web map. Original solution: Created a VB service to write GPS data to CSV, used Python to covert CSV to Shapefile and refresh map layer programmatically in Flex Viewer. Worked in testing, failed during event. Python would crash and corrupt the layer. Had to delete the python working directory and restart the python script to get it working again. PITA. Solution 2: Display CSV table as XY data in ArcMap, publish as map service and use Query widget to refresh the map layer. Problem here is that the Lat/Lon in the CSV does not match displayed location. Example: Query widget shows 34,-117 but Flex Viewer shows the point at 0, 0 or 27, -139. Thoughts? Recommendations? Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.
