Agreed with everyone above, posting here to request 2004 functionality for an issue that exists in 2025. 🙂 🤣

Thank you for posting this Dr Kerski, I viewed the first two listed, but could not open the third: GeoTech Center's National Program Locator. , it kept asking me to log into their account. Not sure if that is a user error on my part, or if it is down at the moment. It doesn't seem to be shared publicly at this time. I took the time to 'update' our info, just in case it wasn't on their site. Regards, Gregory Lund, Associate Teaching Professor, University of WA Tacoma.

Geri, This group of blogs, received in my inbox today, could not have been more timely. I have been approved to develop a new course related to AI in GIS at the University of Washington Tacoma beginning this (2025) summer. It is my hope to get it through the approval processes in time for Summer 2026. I've subscribed to this blog, in hope of reading more content as it is posted!

EdiePunt, Thank you, this is exceptional news! Side note: An 'Upvote' on posts/comments would be helpful, IMHO. If I recall it was in the previous version of these threads, maybe not. But, back to this topic!!! I'm excited to hear this news!

GREAT Point(s). It has been nearly 8 months since your post/question with 6 'Kudos', yet no-one from Esri has replied? Seems as though showing the Feature Dataset in the Path would be a simple fix for Esri, or, as you noted, the ArcMap way of showing it as a hierarchical tree. As it exists, ArcPro 3.2.2 (I wait a few months before 'signing up to be a crash test dummy' and upgrading to the latest version) is confusing and misleading (as @wayfaringrob and @MDBowser have mentioned. Any idea of when/if this will ever get any traction? btw, it would also be nice to be able to 'Clear the Projection' of a Map in ArcPro as well, but that ship seems to have sailed and is too complicated to achieve.

The problem persisted in ArcPro 3.2.2, and 3.3. I've not found a way to prevent this issue. <edit>.... My students and I experience it most when we're utilizing and creating Rasters (Slope/Aspect/Hillshade etc.). Other than that, we have no clue. I remind them to save early and often! Any word on this?

R_, Great idea, I'll give this a try. Still hoping to hear the diagnosis of the main issue, but this is a good fix (along with using the Long (copy/paste) URL, or bitly, for that matter. Gregory

My students have created ArcGIS Online Collections, and have been directed to use the 'Share' icon to create a short url for their collection, to add to their Resume, etc. This example produces this link: https://arcg.is/1PnLfX Which results in this 'error': At first I thought it was the permissions, but when I copy the students 'Long URL' from the Collection: https://storymaps.arcgis.com/collections/566bdc6433f94e1caf9761b418ce4f54 It works perfectly fine. All this was done using Mozilla Firefox, latest edition. 121.0.1 64 Bit on Windows 11. Also Tried in the latest version of Chrome. (IE and 'Edge' are not installed on my machine... because... why would they be?) Saving/Re-saving, shutting down, etc. didn't work. I tried searching for a solution but didn't find any. Thanks for the help. <EDIT> It should be noted that this only happened to 15% of my students, the rest worked</EDIT> Regards, Gregory Lund

@KoryKramer and @WillAnderson Thank you both! And, side/off topic note, Kory, it's been ~10 years since we met in the UW cohort, right? Time flies!

Happy 2023! I was happy to receive email notifications that this thread has new comments, and to realize that it is still active. Wanted to thank @SteveIrving (SteveIrving) for the mention in regards to my post. & Thank you to for August 19, 2019 OP @JamalNUMAN JamalNUMAN I just re-read my post within this thread from October 16, 2019, and it appears that this issue is the same as it was in 2019. My students (today) use a combination of ArcDesktop (Map/Catalog etc.) and ArcPro (also 'Desktop' it seems) to accommodate deficiencies in one or the other. While some employers are asking for ArcPro experience and education, I'm still seeing ArcGIS Desktop (Pre-Pro) listed on Job announcements.

AubriKinghorn Thank you for replying to this post, but that is not 100% correct, (near as I can tell). The OP(AnaVilla1) asked about a Legend or an entire map. I'm working in ArcPro 3.0.2 right now and I can't (seemingly, unless it is a HUGE Operator (me) error) copy and paste a legend, nor a legend that was converted into graphics. My only (albeit lame) 'solution' is to 'snip and clip' or use my Snagit Software to grab it. Any chance of Esri providing the former ArcMap capabilities of being able to copy/paste a legend, scalebar, north arrow?

Absolutely Agree. I have Military students, or students that work on JBLM, who do not have internet access in certain areas, and therefore can not use ArcGIS Pro, due to our (University of WA Tacoma) settings of not allowing students to take ArcGIS Pro Offline. I came up with a work-around, turning off the option to prevent offline use, had the student take it offline, and immediately turned offline use off. Student was able to maintain offline use, but this is very clunky, and not secure. A toggle switch to allow only specified users to utilize ArcGIS Pro Offline would be very helpful (Default "NO" for everyone, but a switch for those who are allowed.). Thanks.

Agree wholeheartedly with this Blog (and of course a traditional resume) This blog post is required reading for my GIS 312 (Intermediate GIS) students at the University of Washington Tacoma. We have since transitioned to a 'Esri ArcGIS StoryMap Collection' as the required method of creating an online portfolio. Students usually list their portfolio in the header of their cover letters and resume.
