Yeah, the same thing happens if you just run it standalone outside of a model.

Hi Dan, Thanks for this. I had seen this page, but had hoped when it said 'The following tools will transfer attachments' it was referring to tools that were moving or copying data, or creating a completely new layer. In my example the tool is effectively just adding a column to an existing layer and updating that column (i.e. nothing that you would expect would have any effect on the relationship between the layer and attachments). Are you saying that if I use any other geoprocessing tools, other than the eight listed, I will lose the attachments? If so are there any work arounds or other methods I can use to keep the attachments? Cheers Colin

Hi all, I have a model (a much simplified version of which is shown below) that appends a feature layer from ArcGIS to a geodatabase and then runs a series of geoprocessing tools on the data. The feature layer has attached images which need to be retained within the geodatabase. The append step works fine, but when the next tool runs (in this case Extract Multi Values to Points) the output layer layer looses the attachments table and the relationship class between them (they completely disappear - see 'before and after' images below). Is this a bug and/or is there any way to prevent this from happening and maintaining the attachments?

Thanks for this Ismael Chivite. I have two questions: Firstly, you say 'Connect does not create views, and does not handle them well when you delete or modify the survey. This is something that is going to change,'. Is there an rough estimate when this might be the case? Secondly, in the past when doing public surveys we've been guided to use the feature layer directly (i.e. not creating a view) and to alter the settings on that to prevent public access to the data (using a settings setup like shown in the attached image). Whilst we'll use views in the future, has our data been insecure if we have shared the feature service publicly but using the settings as shown below?

Hi, I was wondering how a Hub page is discovered by search engines and if there's any way to influence which pages a SE brings back as matches? For our hub - one for surveying Willow Tits - if I put in ‘Willow Tit Hub’ into Google the second match (and the only one relevant to our hub) is the following: https://national-willow-tit-survey-rspb.hub.arcgis.com/datasets/about-this-site Whilst it’s great to be getting a hit on the hub (for a while I didn’t get anything relevant coming back) the page given isn’t really part of the hub (in fact I'd never seen it before). It looks to be related to one of the hub’s real pages: https://national-willow-tit-survey-rspb.hub.arcgis.com/pages/about-this-site But has ‘datasets’ rather than ‘pages’ in the url and so gives a more metadata-type view than the page. I think this would be fairly confusing to someone looking for the hub, even though you can get to the actual content by clicking at the top menu bar. What would be much better would be if it gave an actual page on the hub – and ideally the main/home page. Is there anything I can do to address this? It's fairly important that people can find hubs this way.

Hi, Using AppStudio is it possible to create functionality within an app whereby a user can select an area of interest and just download the data within that area for offline use? In particular, is it possible for them to select an area of basemap and have that available offline (in an identical way to how Collector operates)? I've seen various posts/information about how to download existing mmpks into offline apps, but our field workers (that potentially number into the 100s) cover the entire country and it's not feasible to create a mmpk for each potential area they might survey. I don't necessarily need to know how to do it, just if it's possible. Thanks in advance.

Hi James, The repeat becomes relevant if the user selects one of two values in a single select (I've attached the .xlsx for the survey and you can see the live form here). The question 'Did you observe willow tit or marsh tit during your visit?' is the one that triggers the repeat (when you select 'Yes'). Just in case it helps, I've also attached a picture to show how the blank rows are appearing in the repeat. Many thanks for your help looking into this. Colin

I've been playing around with the survey widget (which is brilliant by the way) and have a question about the 'Send data to this survey' feature. Is it possible to send polygon (or polyline) features from a map if the survey has been configured with a geoshape (or geotrace) question? I've had a go at this but I've not been able to get it to work (doing it with points works fine). To be able to do it with polygons would be incredibly useful and really open up what was possible for a lot of our data-flows. Many thanks Colin

I have a survey with a repeat in it that I've published from Connect but is being used as a web form. The repeat is optional and is triggered by people selecting a particular value on the main record. It is entirely hidden until that value is selected and this is done using a relevant statement in the 'begin repeat'. This all looks great and works well in the web form, except for one thing. For records where the required value to unhide the repeat isn't entered a blank record in the repeat is still created. I've seen some posts suggesting this is expected behaviour in slightly similar circumstances but I wondered if it was also the case here - or whether there was a way to stop the blank records from being created?

Hi Kanin Sangcharoenvanakul, Many thanks for your reply. I think the issue might be that by having the geopoint as relevant to a condition that will never occur it will always come back at 0,0 (which is fine, I just needed to be sure that this was always the case). That’s what I gather from this post from Philip Wilson where he says: ‘Adding the geopoint to the form and making the geopoint not relevant will cause it to have no location (null value) which will then default to 0,0 when submitted to feature service.’ Having a default lat/long written in was just my way of adding in a backup to override any other location that might sneak in the backdoor (which was something I wasn’t sure was possible or not), but I’m assuming that will only ever kick in if the geopoint is relevant (which it never can be in my example). Cheers Col

I have created a survey in Connect that I want users to access through the web form view. The survey has a repeat in it with a geopoint question in that captures the spatial information in that I'm interested in. The parent record doesn't need any spatial data captured so I've effectively hidden the mandatory geopoint question from there by making it only appear when the relevant value equals something users will never be able to enter. This all works fine, but I'm a little unsure around the behaviour of what's recorded in this 'hidden' geopoint and wanted to check how it worked. Basically, I want to ensure that nothing real is captured in the hidden geopoint question - especially the location from where the user has submitted the record from (this is really important as I need the survey to be fully anonymous). In Connect I've set the default lat/long for the hidden geopoint to equal a location in the sea, but when when I've tested it records from the web form view it get logged as off Africa at lat/long 0,0. This is fine, but I need to be 100% that it will always do this and not try to get the location another way (e.g. by getting it through the browser location in the background or whatever). Does anyone know what the exact behaviour is for a geopoint question like this? Will it always record 0,0 via the webform or is there a way a user could inadvertently give their/a different location?

Hi Klara, Are there any plans to make this possible? It greatly reduces the benefits of a custom header if you can't easily highlight to the user what page they are currently on. Cheers Colin
