We've definitely had an issue caused today following the app update. I have logged a ticket with ESRI UK but thought I'd mention here for wider awareness. We're getting "Unable to submit - A null pointer" when editing existing records in a ArcGIS Enterprise 11.3 hosted feature service. We're able to open the same map on a device running 25.1 and it all works. It seems to be just this specific map right now, but it's a fairly well used one so less than ideal!

Just to echo the comments from others, this is a really useful feature in dashboards and would be great to have in Experience Builder.

In Field Maps Designer in ArcGIS Enterprise 11.3 I successfully set up a layer filter with the five values in the domain visible. The users have asked for another two values to be added to the domain which I've done in the main layer and have also refreshed the view that is being used in my map. When opening the map in Field Maps on the phone it only shows the original five values in the list of available filters. I've tried turning off the filters completely and reconfiguring them but no luck. Have also tried poking around in the JSON within the AGO Assistant in case there was an obvious hack I could do in there but didn't seem to be anything relating to the layer filters. I will probably raise as a support ticket but just thought I'd check if anyone else has experienced this and has a quick workaround. Thanks Gareth

+1 for needing this capability. It was so powerful within Story Maps Classic.

I have exactly the same requirement as per the synchronise option in Story Maps Classic. Would love to know if someone has worked out how to do it or if it's coming to any other instant apps - it is possible in Dashboards and presumably Experience Builder.

The link referenced above confirms that downloading is not currently supported on data generated from data expressions. I guess this is because there could be some quite complex logic pulling data from multiple sources and it would be harder to check all those have export enabled. Would be a very useful addition to support this.

To be honest I was slightly surprised when I read the launch blog and it said that Creator level was needed. I had (wrongly) assumed that it was going to be available to the Collaborator (formerly Editor) level but the blurb for that user type now specifically refers to "simple editing" to distinguish it from the new Web Editor. Might be interesting to compare what is available in the Web Editor with the functionality available in SWEET, which is an ESRI UK product. As ever there are so many different ways of doing things within the ESRI technology stack!

I guess you could use a dashboard data expression to extract the week part of the date but would be great if it was there as part of the built-in options.

This is less of a question but more of a reference in case anybody else experiences the same issue during their upgrade. We just completed an upgrade from 10.9.1 to 11.3 for our internal ArcGIS site which runs on seven separate Windows servers (1x portal, 3x server and 3x data stores). We ran into a fairly fundamental issue when upgrading the portal element. The installer ran for about 40 minutes and then reported that it had successfully completed. However when trying to proceed with the next step we were unable to reach the portal website and it then became apparent that there was no Portal for ArcGIS windows service on the machine. Repairing the installation (after another wait) didn't fix the issue so we did a complete uninstall and reinstall, which did fix it and enabled us to proceed with the upgrade. The only resource we could find which referenced a missing Portal for ArcGIS service was this one in relation to the install folder name exceeding 34 characters (which it didn't in our case). We did attempt to run with the transforms file but couldn't get that to work, so just went with the uninstall and reinstall option. Yes! The offline process used to work ok for us though we didn't use a great deal, then all of a sudden some time around June users who had previously downloaded a map couldn't sync their edits to the Portal. During my initial attempts to investigate we then seemed to lose the ability to even download offline areas - pretty much the exact same symptoms you describe (on both iOS and Android). I haven't really had the time to investigate further and log a support ticket because as I say it's not heavily used and I was hoping that a planned upgrade from 10.9.1 to 11.1 might fix it - but that might be wishful thinking if you have the same issue at that version.

From memory I think Field Maps forms are only supported in applications based on JS API v4 - in other words the new Map Viewer, Experience Builder, Instant Apps. I'm fairly sure you won't be able to see them in WAB apps as they're all based on JS API v3.

Thanks @ChristopherCounsell and apologies. I was looking at the thread title and first line of the original post which states "unknown error" and didn't really pay attention to the screenshot which as you say has a different error message! I will do a bit more digging in server logs etc (if I can get one of the users to come into the office) and will post in a separate thread as suggested. Thanks Gareth

I've got three different users working on three different surveys who have reported the same error in the last couple of weeks. They're using Android phones with Survey 123 being installed via Microsoft Intune (work Play store) against an ArcGIS Enterprise 10.9.1 portal. There doesn't appear to be any obvious logic such as large photos or incorrect data types which are causing some records to upload successfully and some not. In most cases these forms and users have worked absolutely fine for a couple of years which makes me wonder whether there is a bug that has slipped in with a recent app update maybe? They basically get the same unknown error message as the original poster. I've suggested for now that they edit the survey and then save it in drafts as that will at least allow them to submit other surveys without attempting to send the dodgy ones again. Will raise with UK technical support as this looks like it's becoming a more widespread issue for us (though I imagine it will be one that is tricky to try and replicate).

Thanks for the useful replies and apologies for the delay in responding. I did try upgrading the forms to the latest versions of Survey123 Connect but it made no difference. I've now been able to work out the cause of the problem which was down to the presence of a hidden field in a repeat on my form. It had a calculated value of position(..) to be used in reporting to ensure that the repeats appear in the same order as they were entered (couldn't use the last edited date as they all get the same time at the point of upload). Changing it to a visible integer field seems to have fixed the linking now. Not sure if this is a bug but I can't see anything in the known issues section of the documentation.
