Hi Aaron, You may have already seen this documentation, but if not it may be helpful: http://www.esri.com/news/arcuser/1009/cloudcomputing.html http://www.roktech.net/_blog/ROK_Blog/post/How_To_Serve_Your_ArcGIS_Server_Cached_Tiles_To_The_Amazon_S3_Service/ The tiles themselves aren't actually created in S3 using this approach, but the cache for the service is hosted there. Hope this helps, Steve

Hi, For the Datum Transformation parameter, try using the ID for the datum transformation instead of the text description. For Amersfoort_to_WGS84, it should be 1112. You can find the full list of IDs here: http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/rest/apiref/dattrans.html Hope this helps, Steve

Hi Ann, You should be fine just changing the coordinate system of the data frame in the MXD, publishing, then caching. You can also specify a datum transformation in the data frame properties that will only apply to the MXD. The only drawback might be a small increase in caching time since the data is being reprojected, but once it's cached there should be no performance impact. Hope this helps.

Have you put the path to the 64-bit client libraries before the path to the 32-bit libraries in the PATH environment variable?

Hi, Can you check if the Windows Firewall is enabled on your Amazon machine? I believe it is enabled by default, and I have seen proxy page issues occur because of this.

Hi, I believe that directory essentially acts like a recycle bin in a Windows OS. Deleted files will stay there until you manually (and permanently) delete them. I would guess that those .sd files are for services that you deleted at some point. If the .sd files in your trash directory are very large, I would guess it is because you published a large amount of data and copied it to the server when publishing, rather than accessing it from a registered data source. Hope this helps.

Hi Nathan, Where did you save the application on your computer? Did you extract it from the zip folder after downloading it? Also, what is the URL you are using to access the application?

Hi , For question #1, you are correct. You will need an ArcGIS Online for Organizations subscription to publish the shapefile as a hosted service, which you can then add to a webmap. If you have a subscription, the option to publish a hosted service from the shapefile will be present (and enabled by default) when you add the .zip file. For question #2, the shapefile is just stored with the saved webmap. A hosted service will not be created if you add a shapefile this way. Hope this helps.

Hi Wolfram, Personal Geodatabases are no longer supported with ArcGIS Server 10.1, so I would not recommend using that to store data you want to publish. This is documented under the 'Discontinued Functionality' section at the following link: http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/main/10.1/index.html#//0154000002p0000000 As far as shapefile and file geodatabase, there shouldn't be any difference in performance if you copy the data to the server when you publish. If you copy data, it will be stored in a file geodatabase on the server and the service will reference that. If you do not copy the data to the server, then you would see the best performance storing your data in a file geodatabase rather than in shapefile format. The following link has some old but still relevant information on FGDB performance: http://www.esri.com/news/arcuser/0309/files/9reasons.pdf Hope this helps.

When you registered this database, did you register a folder location or did you register a database connection? I only ask because you mentioned using a UNC path in one of your previous posts. You would need to register the actual .sde connection to the SQL database.

What is the exact message you are seeing in the analyzer window? Is it saying that data will be copied to the server, or something else? Also, the green check changing into a question mark or grey dot is normal and shouldn't be a problem.

Are you trying to filter the map service based on some kind of definition query on the attributes of the data used to build the service? If so, I don't think you will be able to do this with a tiled service, as it's essentially a folder of images. If you look at the REST endpoint for the service you won't see any layer or field names that could be used to query or filter by.
