Matthew, Secure ArcGIS Server services are now supported in ArcGIS Online maps when you add the layer directly to the map. From the map, click Add, then click Layer from the web. Enter the URL to the ArcGIS Server service and click OK. You'll be prompted to enter a username and password. This web map can then be referenced from a template and the user will be prompted to enter the username and password. This is supported with ArcGIS Server 10 sp1 and later. Currently the ArcGIS for Android App does not yet support secured services but is an enhancement for future release; ArcGIS for iOS App supports secured services (it asks the user to authenticate); and ArcGIS for Windows Phone App supports secured services (via tokens). Hope this helps, Denise

Hi SanSim, The "Unable to save data due to error 80040E2F" can occur for various data constraints. I have found the best way to try to track down cause of the error is by validating the data in ArcMap prior to exporting to ArcPad project via ArcPad Data Manager. 1 - Open the MXD in ArcMap and Zoom Out to full extent of the data to be validated 2 - Start Editing (Editor toolbar) and Select Features (usually use Select Features by Rectangle tool) 3 - Once all features are selected/highlighted, select Validate Features option from Editor toolbar dropdown options Results are usually either: - All features are valid, OR - Validation of Features failed with additional explanation (ex: The subtype code does not exist. [Lights2] Item not found in this collection.) When all invalid features have been corrected in database and Validate Features process no longer returns error, this is when you should attempt to export project to ArcPad via ArcPad Data Manager. Be sure that 'Validate feature classes before checking out' checkbox is checked on Get Data For ArcPad - Select Output Options panel. This will also run a feature validation process, yet results are more descriptive and feature specific than Editor's Validate Features process. If you are current in ArcPad maintenance and need further assistance tracking down the invalid data features, please submit your support issue with Esri Support so you can be connected with an ArcPad specialist. Thanks, Denise

Vinod, There are a couple of things you can try as quick look at the Garmin Asus M10 device specifications indicates the device meets minimum ArcPad system requirements. 1 - reinstall ArcPad 10 on the device to see if first attempt was incomplete, 2 -open C:\Program Files (x86)\ArcGIS\ArcPad10.0\CABs\ and locate the "ArcPad Application.ARM.CAB" file. Copy this manually to your device via ActiveSync (or whatever other means). Then, on your device, locate the same file using File Explorer and double click on it to install. Feel free to copy the any other relevant CAB files there: ArcPad Application.ARM.CAB ArcPad Fonts.CAB VBScript RTL.ARM.CAB HARN\ArcPad HARN.ARM.CAB NADCON\ArcPad NADCON.ARM.CAB As a neat trick, make these CAB files Read Only and copy them to a SD card on your device. That way, you can quickly redeploy ArcPad to any device by moving the SD card and double clicking on the CAB files. Read Only ensures that the OS doesn't auto delete the CAB file after the installation process. If after completing both suggestions and you still encounter the "ArcPad is not a valid Pocket PC", please contact Esri Support to work with an ArcPad analyst to help resolve the issue. Cheers, Denise

Ryan, I recommend submitting questions/comments for Trimble's GPS Analyst extension for ArcGIS Desktop within ArcPad Forums as currently this is how GPS Analyst is supported by Esri and ArcPad specialists will be most familiar with the application and workflows. Just create new thread for your question. Cheers, Denise

Grazi, Instructions provided in KB document linked below includes steps for importing an MapInfo interchange file (.MIF) using ArcGIS 9.x. http://support.esri.com/en/knowledgebase/techarticles/detail/26823 You can check the license availability of ArcGIS extensions in ArcGIS 9.3 using the Desktop Administrator. Here is a link to this Help topic, http://webhelp.esri.com/arcgisdesktop/9.3/index.cfm?TopicName=Checking_license_availability. You can also evaluate ArcGIS Extensions including ArcGIS Data Interoperability by requesting 60-day trial via this URL, http://www.esri.com/software/arcgis/arcgis-for-desktop/extensions.html. You can then use this Help topic to register the ArcGIS Data Interoperability extension, http://webhelp.esri.com/arcgisdesktop/9.3/index.cfm?TopicName=Registering_ArcView_or_ArcEditor_and_extensions. Happy GIS Day! Denise

My apologies, I posted to this thread without realizing original poster was using SDE data and not SDC data format on DVD so my response is likely off base as I focused on the error message. The Network Team is investigating this reported issue and will post test findings when complete. Thanks, Denise

James, Your post didn't say what versions of ArcPad and ArcGIS Desktop you are using and what I am going to introduce you to is only available with ArcPad 10.0.3, released earlier this month. New at ArcPad 10.0.3 is the ArcPad AXF Extension for FME which allows ArcGIS users with FME 2011 SP3 to browse AXF files in ArcCatalog, drag/drop AXF files into ArcMap, and export AXF files into a Geodatabase. For more information, please review the ArcPad Help on ArcGIS Resource Center. Now you can read your ArcPad AXF files directly in ArcMap or ArcCatalog using the ArcPad AXF Reader for FME. The ArcPad AXF Reader for FME is available right now in FME 2011 SP4 and FME 2012 beta. If you already have a license for FME, download either of these and start using the extension now. If you do not have a license for FME, you can obtain a free temporary license right now from www.safe.com/arcpad. The ArcPad AXF Reader will be integrated in the ArcGIS 10.1 Data Interoperability Extension. Cheers, Denise

Hi everyone, We have seen this error reported previously by those working with data from the DVD. You have copied the data from DVD to local machine, correct? All parts of the data were downloaded and reference the original location of data as existed on disk? For instance the streets network dataset uses a number of other SDC datasets and if it or the datasets have been moved, relative to their original location, then errors will occur. If you still are experiencing this error when accessing data from local machine and are current in ArcGIS maintenance, please submit a support request via Esri Support site. Cheers, Denise

Hi Michael, You should find the Network Analyst tutorials and sample data in the default installation path for all tutorial data (C:\arcgis\ArcTutor\). Additionally the ArcGIS Resource Center contains the Network Analyst tutorial exercises and Guide Books, http://help.arcgis.com/en/arcgisdesktop/10.0/help/index.html#/What_is_Network_Analyst/004700000001000000/. quick translation w/Google Translate: Polygons merge, taking into account the longest common border I work with ArcView 9.3 and currently have one question, where is my approach is unclear. I have a polygon theme with about 4,000 polygons, with around 500 to be supplied (with a defined attribution) by a "Verschneidungsvorgang" neighboring polygons. The decisive criterion for the assignment is the longest common border. In ArcView 3.2, a similar feature was available, you could tell by all the surfaces to be blended with x m below the surface to which they have the longest common border. So what goes in ArcView 9.3 under consideration and not attributing the size of the area? Thanks for your helpful answers hopefully! Tanja76

Hi Chris, At ArcGIS Mobile 10 release, we introduced a new way to create Mobile projects and to be able to serve them out to the Web, as well as use them in a non-server environment. Please review a related Support Blog that describes this proces in detail, http://blogs.esri.com/Support/blogs/supportcenter/archive/2011/03/18/using-arcgis-mobile-10.aspx. Cheers, Denise
