You can set the patch width for that line legend item, that will increase the length of the line shown. You could also experiment with the line shape the legend uses to see if that helps.

I think this happens because the patch (symbol) and the labels that go with it are treated as a unit/ single item. With wrapped text there's no telling how many lines of text you will end up having, so if the patches were kept in place the text could end up overlapping other text. In addition to the workaround James proposed, another workaround is to convert the legend to graphics, ungroup as needed and edit to suit. Of course, converting the legend to graphics means it will no longer be live, so there's a trade-off.

A couple of options come to mind. 1. Convert the legend to graphics, ungroup and edit the parts. But once you convert it to graphics it's no longer live and won't update if the data changes. 2. Add a couple of "dummy" layers to the map, one to represent the species and another to represent the sizes. Turn them off so they don't show in the map, but turn them on in the legend in place of the legend item for your actual layer. More work to set up, but the legend will remain live.

My guess would be something has gotten corrupted in the Layout or the mxd. If you drag to select with the Select Elements tool and that doesn't help you might also try using the Select All Elements command from the Edit menu in the main toolbar to see if that selects anything. Another thing to try is to drag a selection rectangle that covers the entire page, copy everything selected and paste into a new empty layout in another instance of ArcMap. If there are still problems you might want to contact tech support so an analyst can work through the issue with you and see if there is a solution for your case or a bug that needs to be addressed.

One thing to try: the bounding box may not be big enough, thereby dropping some of the text. See if expanding the bounding by dragging a handle box helps.

Yes, the contextual ribbons and panes take some getting used to, but once you do they can offer lots of functionality without lots of toolbars open at once and without multiple levels of property dialogs you have to OK out of. I'll talk to our documentation team. The product is always evolving, and input from users like you is key!

OK. I see your screenshot now. What your showing is the layer properties, not the legend item properties. Make sure you go to the legend in the Contents pane, not the map, and make sure you select a legend item within the legend, not a layer in a map.

Hi Thomas, I'm talking about Pro as well. 1. In the Contents pane in a layout view, expand the legend so you can see the items within the legend 2. Select a legend item inside the legend in the Contents pane 3. Right-click on the legend item in the Contents pane and choose Properties 4. In the Properties pane, at the top, it should say Element; below that should be the legend name, colon, legend item name; below that it should say Properties | Text Symbol. Make sure Properties is selected; directly below that it should say Show with the checkboxes below that.

Sorry, Thomas, I don't see a screenshot. Make sure you have a legend item selected in the Contents pane, not the legend itself. The "Show" section should be easy to spot in the upper half f the legend item Properties pane. You should see 4 checkboxes with the words for each kind of legend text next to each checkbox.

You can also just turn the heading (and other text) off in the legend without deleting it from the symbology. To do that follow these steps: 1. Expand the legend in the Contents pane 2. Select the legend item or items you want to edit 3. Open the Properties pane if it's not already open (you can open it by right-clicking on a selected legend item in the Contents pane and choosing Properties from the context menu) 4. In the Properties pane, under the "Show" section, toggle checkmarks to toggle visibility of the various legend texts

It looks like you probably have multiple styles referenced in each of those. Or, you have multiple copies of each color in one style. It's also possible that styles with the same name on different machines have had colors added or removed. First, check to make sure the same styles are referenced on all OSs. Then try un-referencing all but the ESRI style and your user style. You can do that through the Style Manager under the Customize menu. If you still see the same thing, look into the Colors folder for the referenced styles (expand the folders in the left-hand pane of the Style Manager).

You mention data and you mention "foto" in a layout. If you want to switch in and out different raster data I think you would have to automate that, probably using python or other code. If you want to switch photos in a layout picture element you can do that through the picture element's properties dialog. For that you will need an attribute in the DDP index layer's table that specifies the path for each picture.

That functionality has not made it into ArcGIS Pro yet. It is on our todo list.
