Does anyone know what needs to be modified in the query builder widget code to work with Oracle SDE date fields in my map service? The query Builder widget does not know what the DBMS management system is. What is entered into the filter box is passed to the server as a request. The server then passes that string to the DBMB and therefore needs to match the syntax requirements of the DBMS. When a user double clicks an esriFieldTypeDate field in my map service, I need code that creates the date syntax that the esriFieldTypeDate field (Orcale SDE) in my map service requires. Thanks for your help, Susan

Thanks so much Robert!! This is a big help to me. I guess this forum does not yet allow users to 'star' that a thread has been answered? Thanks again, Susan

Hi Robert, I added the below code to livelayerwidget.mxml but then my swf file doesn't build. I am likely putting the code in the wrong place. I placed the function fireQuery last. private function init():void
{
graphicPointSym = new PictureMarkerSymbol(widgetIcon, 25, 25);
graphicsLayer = new GraphicsLayer();
graphicsLayer.symbol = graphicPointSym;
map.addLayer(graphicsLayer);
map.addEventListener(PanEvent.PAN_END, fireQuery);
map.addEventListener(ZoomEvent.ZOOM_END,fireQuery);
if (configXML)
{ Would you be able to provide some direction as to where I should place your code? Thanks for your help, Susan

Thanks Robert. Good to know. The post you reference mentions "Robert Scheitlin's way to export the map image as jpg via a context menu and right click, which works great" Is this something that is fairly straightfoward to implement? Thanks for your help, Susan

Thanks Robert! My mistake 😮 It does work now - thanks - but only in part. The initial display is correct (eg: zoom to particular area and only those records are displayed - this is great). However, when I pan the map or zoom to another area, the live layer widget is not updated - it still displays the original records. Any ideas?

Robert, Thanks for your suggestion! I tried it, but the live layer widget still returns all records (not just the records for the map extent). Any other ideas? private function queryFeatures():void { if (queryLayer) { var queryTask:QueryTask = new QueryTask(queryLayer); queryTask.disableClientCaching = true; var query:Query = new Query(); query.outFields = queryFields.split(","); query.returnGeometry = true; query.where = queryExpr; query.outSpatialReference = map.spatialReference; queryTask.execute(query, new AsyncResponder(onResult, onFault)); showMessage(loadingLabel, true); query.geometry = map.extent;

I am wanting to modify the Live Layer Widget so only features (points) in the current map extent are queried and have the results shown on the map. Has anyone done this or does anyone know how to accomplish this? Thanks! Susan

According to ESRI: Of these two widgets (LiveMaps and LiveLayers), only the LiveMaps widget supports scale dependencies in the Flex Sample Viewer. How the code is written in the Viewer for the LiveLayer widget is this: The widget connects to the layer, gets all the features that match the query set up in the livelayer XML config file, and then renders them as a graphics layer in the flex viewer. The graphics layer is not set up in the Viewer to deal with the scale dependencies, thus that information is lost in the translation. It looks like this can be done though, but you will need to write some code to do it. Hope this helps.

My map service layer has several esriFieldTypeDate fields. When I query in ArcMap, the format returned in Select by attriburtes is this: TO_DATE('2024-12-31 00:00:00','YYYY-MM-DD HH24:MI:SS') as the data resides in Oracle SDE. The actual records look like this: 01/12/1989 When I go to query these fields in the SFV 1.3 query builder, the returned format looks like this: 12/31/2020 12:00:00 AM and I get an error message "query failed!' Any ideas what need to be fixed/changed? I have attached a few graphics to illustrate my problem. The AGREEMENT_END_DATE = TO_DATE('2019-12-31 00:00:00','YYYY-MM-DD HH24:MI:SS') query works fine in ArcMap and the REST map service query layer function. Not sure why I get AGREEMENT_END_DATE = '12/31/2020 12:00:00 AM' when I use this field in the query builder (SFV 1.3) widget. Thanks for your help, Susan
