Hi Andrew BTW. I'm a big fan of Simcoe County's customization of the Story Map Tour. It's one of the nicest looking customizations of the Story Map Tour I think I've seen. You guy's Interactive Trail Maps page that gives people access to your complete set of tours is just ace: http://www.simcoe.ca/InformationTechnology/Pages/TrailMaps.aspx I opened your feature service in the ArcGIS Online Map Viewer, saved the web map https://www.arcgis.com/home/webmap/viewer.html?webmap=e8ae606e5e134465ba459d3f3b2aae2d and then shared it using the Story Map Tour app template and it works OK. Here's the tour: https://www.arcgis.com/apps/MapTour/index.html?appid=54a88b637b104167949c4b956ad8ba36 What I think may be happening for you is that in your web map there may be a Visibility Range scale setting on your point layer, which Map Tour doesn't like. It is best to remove any Visibility Range scale settings on point layers you create to define places in Map Tour or Shortlist. PS. To future proof your data, I recommend referencing your images from your layer attribute table using HTTPS instead of HTTP, as your server does support HTTPS: https://maps.simcoe.ca/Trails/Trails/ClearviewTrainTrail/Photos/Point6.jpg (although I'm not sure why Geonet won't consistently open that URL when I click on it in this post ) In this way current and future versions of web browsers are less likely to flag your content as not secure. Rupert

Hi Kevin Sorry about the issue and thanks for bringing it to our attention. I can reproduce it too with a test Shortlist I just created. This is an issue on IOS devices. It doesn't happen for me with other Story Map apps, just Shortlist beta. I can reproduce it in both Safari and Chrome on iOS (I didn't try any other browsers). It's not an issue on Android with Chrome. I've found it only occurs if I am signed in to ArcGIS Online when I view a Shortlist I am the owner of (i.e. when the Shortlist has the blue Edit button in its header. So the workaround is to sign out of ArcGIS Online in your browsers and then launch the Shortlist. Let us know if that works for you in order to deploy your Shortlist in your kiosk. Meanwhile we will see if it is something we can fix in our mid-September release so it doesn't happen when you are signed into ArcGIS Online and viewing your own Shortlist. Rupert

Hi,. I can address your second point. You guessed correctly that we'd like to keep Shortlist in beta status because we are actively working on a brand new app that would, you guessed correctly again, enable authors to create place-based stories using either a Map Tour-like or Shortlist-like look and feel, with both looks getting a visual makeover, and support for requested features like easy integration of multiple images per place. We don't have a release schedule for this app yet. Existing Story Map Tours and Shortlists will still work after we release that app. Rupert

Thanks Adrian Welsh. We recommend to people authoring story maps that they drag and drop their images directly into the story map. That optimizes the images and ensures they will be accessible to all users and won't be blocked or go offline. With the support we have now in our apps for uploading photos directly into story maps, there's no need to use third-party sites for image hosting. In the case of an image on a site like imgur that you want to include in a story map, we recommend downloading that image to disk and then uploading it into the story rather than referencing it via a URL. The Story Map apps have built-in support for pointing at images in Flickr and Google Plus/Picasa (although Google Plus/Picasa support is in flux currently and our support for them isn't as smooth as our Flickr support). This support is intended to be useful for individuals and organizations that are already using those to share photos, particularly Flickr. For example if an organization's public affairs department is using Flickr to share photos, then this way those images can be seamlessly and easily used in Story Maps, and that also takes advantage automatically of Flickr's image size optimization. The Flickr workflow also supports captions and geotags stored with the image in Flickr, so it can be very easy to create a Story Map Tour or Story Map Shortlist using pictures in a Flickr album in a few clicks. Authors can also reference any image on the web directly via URLs, like the images on the imgur website mentioned in this thread. This is useful, for example, if your organization already has images on its website that you want to include directly in a story map. It can also be useful if you want to reuse the same set of images in multiple story maps. However, we don't recommend this approach because the images aren't optimized, so a very large slow loading image will be slow in your story map too. Also some sites might be blocked for some users, like we saw in this thread. And images on the web may move or be deleted. Hope that helps Rupert

Hi Alexis. I noticed that in that particular story, one of the images that doesn't load for you is on imgur so perhaps that site is blocked where you are browsing from currently. For example try and open that image in a separate web browser. http://i.imgur.com/3VSFcgL.jpg outside of the story map. It may be blocked there. Thanks for raising this issue. We'll contact the author of this story map and recommend that they upload those images into the story instead of referencing them via a URL. That will avoid any similar issues and also optimize the image too. Rupert

Thanks for raising this Rebecca. Sorry about the issue. Our late June update to Story Map Shortlist fixed this in Windows Edge. We still have this issue with some Shortlists, like the example you posted, in Internet Explorer, when it is running on Windows 10, but not Windows 7. We'll look to see if we can fix this in the next update. Rupert

You should just be able to paste in the URL to your image. Make sure that URL works in a separate web browser tab first, and that it ends with a file extension, like .jpg: https://downloads.esri.com/blogs/places/sandiego/mcasd_la_jolla_large.jpg https://downloads.esri.com/blogs/places/sandiego/mcasd_la_jolla_thumb.jpg If it still doesn't work, you could paste the URL into this thread for us to look at. We actually recommend uploading images directly into story map apps rather than referencing them via URLs. On the item details for an item in an Organization, the admin can change the owner of that item to another user in the same organization. That doesn't apply in your case though because you want to transfer ownership between a Public account and an Organization. Using the ArcGIS Online Assistant tool: ArcGIS Online Assistant you can copy ArcGIS Online items such as apps, including story maps, from one account to another, which would work in your case. After opening the tool, and signing in, you can either browse/search your content to find the story you want to copy, or search all of ArcGIS Online if you want to copy an item that you don't own. Then choose "I want to > Copy Content". You can then sign in to the account you want to copy the app into. Note that in the case of story maps where you have uploaded images directly into the story, those images aren't included in the copied story: instead the copied story still references the images in the original story, so you'd have to upload them again into the copy to make the copy self-contained (i.e. so you could delete the original story. Also if you are using Story Map Tour, Shortlist or Crowdsource, which have internal references to the web map in which the places they display are stored: note that if you copy those apps the copy will still reference the original web map, even if you also copy that web map. Worth a look... Lots of great new stories by you, the user community, have been added recently into the Esri Story Maps Gallery. Maybe your story made it into the Gallery? The Gallery is a showcase to help inspire authors and prospective authors with what can be created with the storytelling tools that are now part of every GIS professional's toolbox via the ArcGIS platform! You can filter the Gallery by app, subject, industry, format (i.e. embedded in a web page, linked to from a web page) using the menus on the left hand side. You can do keyword searches too. It's well worth spending some time in the Gallery looking for stories that match your subject area, industry or the app template you are most interested in. You may get some ideas and inspiration for your own stories. Or you may come up with a better approach. New additions are always shown at the top of the Gallery so it is easy to check back regularly to see what's new. Thanks for all the great work! We know from experience that a lot of time and effort goes into making these stories. The Story Maps Gallery contains some of the best examples of storytelling with maps we've been able to find, but we know there are others out there. If you think a story map you have made is really compelling, and would spark the creative juices for other story map authors, we encourage you to submit your story for consideration. We curate the Gallery, so only a few submissions get picked each week. See the end of this post for info about submitting your story. Story Maps added into the Gallery mid-August 2017 include stories by these organizations and agencies: Local government - City of Arlington, TX - City of Boston, MA - City of Brampton, Ontario, Canada - City of Long Beach, CA - City of Lynchburg, Virginia - City of Paisley, UK - City of Tempe, AZ - City of Westerville, Ohio - New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission - San Bernardino County, CA - The Municipality of Anchorage, Alaska - Town of Clarkstown, NY State and Regional Government - National Capital Commission, Canada - New Jersey Dept of Environmental Protection - Ohio Emergency Management Agency - Pennsylvania Dept of Environmental Protection - Washington State Dept of Ecology - Washington State Dept of Transportation National Government - Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care - NOAA - NOAA NCCOS - NOAA NESDIS - US Forest Service - USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service - USGS Non Profits and NGOs - ACOANA, Venezuela - Conservancy of Southwest Florida - Conservation Colorado - Earthjustice - Global Footprint Network - Global Forest Watch - Grand Canyon Trust - Greenpeace - Pathfinder International - Presbyterian Church (USA) Office of the General Assembly - Rails-to-Trails Conservancy - The Amazon Conservation Team - The Trust for Public Land - Wildlife Conservation Society International Organizations - European Food Safety Authority - GRID-Arendal - USAID Business and Economic Development - Live Baltimore Education/Libraries/Museums - Harvard University Map Collection Transportation - Regional Transportation Alliance of Southwestern Pennsylvania Defense and Military - British Army 3 Medical Regiment Utilities - Town of Clarkstown, NY - Toronto Water, Canada The Story Maps Gallery doesn't contain all the great stories that are being created: just a small selection of stories that we think will help inspire authors and that show off successful approaches and best practices that other authors should see. If you are looking for a story map about a particular topic or location and don't find anything in the Story Maps Gallery, don't forget you can also search all the publicly shared story maps in ArcGIS Online by going to ArcGIS.com, typing in search terms that include the words story map, and filtering the results on the Apps item type. For example here are all the publicly shared story maps in ArcGIS Online sorted by number of views, most viewed listed first. We find potential entries for the Gallery via several channels, including searching Twitter to see what story maps organizations and individuals are promoting publicly. You can also submit stories directly to the Gallery for consideration either via the Gallery Submission Form or My Stories. Either way, if you submit a story to the Gallery, be sure to read the terms and conditions on the Submission Form. In particular, the item details in ArcGIS Online for your story must have a thumbnail and a good set of search tags before you submit it. You can add those via ArcGIS Online My Content or My Stories. If you submit your story to the Gallery and it doesn't get added, it doesn't mean we don't like it (although it may mean that ). We only pick a few stories to be added every week. We also can't enter into correspondence about why a story you submitted wasn't chosen: not because we don't love reviewing stories and giving tips (we do) but because there's not enough time to do that. Note that getting your story into the Gallery does not promote your story to the intended audience you created it for. Gallery submission isn't a substitute for promoting your story map yourself to your audience. The Esri Story Map Gallery is aimed at our users: you still need to promote your story map to the users you created it for, by tweeting it, adding it to the appropriate web page on your website, mentioning it in email blasts, etc. Rupert
