Hi Edwin Use this code and it should work: <audio controls src="https://downloads.esri.com/agol/labs/maptour/horse.mp3" type="audio/mpeg"></audio> (This code doesn't work in Map Tour, and neither does the code you posted above (because of an issue - see https://community.esri.com/thread/217570-audio-not-playing-in-map-tour-story-map ) Rupert

You just type your tags into the Map Tour caption in the Builder for each place: Frequently Asked Questions | Story Maps If you are building your tour from a CSV file you can also include the tags in the Excel spreadsheet you create. In this example I use CONCATENATE formulas in Excel to automatically assemble the HTML formatting for the DESCRIPTION field from other columns in the spreadsheet but I could have also just copied and pasted the HTML formatting. Using the formula is nice in case you change your mind about the formatting you added so you can change it by just changing one formula. You can also do this in ArcMap or ArcGIS Pro if you are preparing GIS data for use in Tour or Shortlist using field calc. Rupert

You can add your supporting layers into the map that the Map Tour uses too. They will be displayed exactly the same as in Shortlist, except that Map Tour doesn't support clicking on them to get popups. You can also add some basic HTML into the Map Tour caption to do formatting, Here's a Map Tour I made with the Side Panel layout option that has trolley stations and lines added, and also HTML formatting in the caption to change font sizes and add hyperlinks: Hidden San Diego You also don't need to choose between Tour and Shortlist: you could make both so that you have both styles available for different purposes. Perhaps the tours highlight a few places (with the best photos) from the larger Shortlist dataset and for display in kiosks. Rupert

Hi Chris, The Story Map Tour app caption doesn't support the iframe tag, but here's a way you can add that sort of content into the main image panel: 1. In the Tour builder, use any option to start building your except the option to upload your images directly into the Builder (because that will require that the main images are strictly images that you upload). You could also start editing an existing tour, as long as it doesn't use the image upload workflow. 2. Add a new tour point and in the dialog that appears, under Media, choose the Video option and click the Other option radio button. In the Other option paste in the src part of the embed code from above, i.e. that part that references the actual Sketchfab content ( https://sketchfab.com/models/a539dafa41a24390b84166bd4515ff43/embed ). Then paste in the URL to a thumbnail (e.g. https://downloads.esri.com/blogs/places/sandiego/cafe_222_logo.jpg ). Note that instead of adding a new point, you could also edit an existing point, in which case you just paste that Sketchfab URL into the dialog for changing the media as a video, and you won't need to add a thumbnail because one will already be there. This will let you incorporate that content into the Map Tour. Because it is treated as a video, your readers will have to initially click a button in order to start viewing the content. But this is a nice way to include it in a tour. If you want to embed the content in narrative along with other images, we'd recommend the Story Map Journal, Story Map Series, or Story Map Cascade app. Hope that helps Rupert

Here's another idea for you: If your story is very photocentric the Story Map Tour's new Side Panel layout might be a good way to present your places. The Side Panel layout is like the Shortlist but the map and the picture are switched, so the image is nice and large. It can look pretty nice on a large monitor. Here's an example: http://brampton.maps.arcgis.com/apps/MapTour/index.html?appid=e9d28a5c06a145569dacd039a75aae1f and here's the same one with the Autoplay parameter added to the end: http://brampton.maps.arcgis.com/apps/MapTour/index.html?appid=e9d28a5c06a145569dacd039a75aae1f&autoplay Rupert

I'm not sure about the Favicon customization but wanted to check that you have seen our Story Maps Developers' Corner blog. For example here's a post on that blog about enhancing the appearance of your self-hosted story map on social media. Rupert

Good point too and that's the easiest approach of all. Increasing the browser zoom does expand the width of the side panel accordingly

Hi Kathy Good point. Unlike the other Story Map apps with side panels, (Map Journal, Map Series and Map Tour), which automatically display that side panel at at width relative to the width of the entire display window, Story Map Shortlist's side panel, which shows the tabs containing the places is a bit more constrained because it contains tiles. It displays the tiles in 2, 3, or 4 columns depending on the size of the display, but doesn't get any wider than 4. So if you have a very wide display, or if you stretch the browser window displaying a Shortlist (example Shortlist if anyone needs ones and wants to try) so it goes over two monitors (such as your primary and secondary monitor) you'll notice that the side panel doesn't get wider than 4 columns, so when you are viewing specific places their pictures are fairly small compared to the map. We should perhaps bump this up a bit more so that on very wide displays, we'd display one or two more columns of tiles in the tabs, which would therefore make the panel wider too when a single place is being displayed. I'm not sure how easy it would be to do that customization yourself. I can ask our dev when he is back from vac unless there is another Geonetter who has tried this. Do you know the display size/aspect ratio of the monitor you are using? Is it a wider aspect ratio than the standard wide screen monitor (mine is 1920x1080). Or would it be possible for you to take a picture of your Shortlist running on the monitor behind your counter we can see what it looks like (assuming it is OK for public consumption and not classified material or location). Hi Frank To show two maps together you could: - Use the Story Map Swipe and Spyglass app template for your project. You can also embed a Swipe/Spyglass app into another story, like Story Map Series or Story Map Journal (see blog post about that or see example). - In the Story Map Cascade app template you can create an immersive section and use a swipe transition between two maps, so that people get a similar experience to the swipe effect in the Story Map Swipe and Spyglass but in the context of the Cascade app. (see example). - If you just want to present a set of maps that people can open individually, you could use Story Map Series where each tab contains a different map, Story Map Journal where each section shows a different map, or use one of the two Gallery configurable apps. - Another approach is to go non-interactive and just make images that contain both of your maps. (see example). This is often the most effective approach if your story doesn't require interaction, because you can control exactly what your users see and you can include legend, annotation, and other info directly in the image. Hi David, Oops, sorry I should have mentioned this in my first reply above: If you repurpose an old Map Tour to work around the bug that was introduced in tours created after June 26th, you have to use a Map Tour that does not use a hosted feature service behind the scenes, i.e. a tour that is not created by uploading images directly into the Builder (because that workflow uses a feature service in which the images are stored). The reason for this is that feature services impose their own, stricter set of supported HTML rules, and this does not include Audio. This is what is giving you the message about the invalid tag when you try and save. Map Tours that use images uploaded into the builder have never supported tags like Audio and Hr (this disparate HTML support is a peculiarity of Map Tour that we don't like and that we won't be carrying forward in our future dev plans for this app) and don't let you save the tour until you remove any unsupported HTML. So if you repurpose an old Map Tour to work around this issue, it has to be a tour that references its images from Flickr, Google+, or directly via URLs (either URLs entered manually in the Builder or via URLs included as data in a CSV file uploaded into the Builder, or via URLs included as attributes in a CSV, shapefile or feature layer added into a web map that was then published as a Map Tour. Use the audio embed code from the blog you referenced, not the code that Alison posted above. So I am pretty confident that the Map Tour you are trying this workaround with uses uploaded images. Sorry about this extra hoop. Note that you can't change an existing Map Tour that uses uploaded images so that it no longer uses them, because this option is chosen at initial create time. I'm hoping you can find an older tour to work with that doesn't use image upload. Another alternative would be to use Story Map Journal for your tour-type story. Using Map Journal lets you present multiple images, embedded content, including audio (using the code that Alison posted above) and unlimited narrative text, and so can be a great way to make more detailed tours. There are some examples in our Gallery (click this link for examples). Out-of-the-box Map Journal doesn't support clicking on a point on the map to go to the section about that place, but if you need that it can be added via some customization. Rupert

Hi David, Sorry about the issue. I've been working with Alison Sizer on this issue (thanks Alison) and it is a bug we introduced inadvertently in our June 26th 2018 update to ArcGIS Online. Map Tours created before June 26th that contain embedded audio continue to work OK, and you can continue to add embedded audio into those tours using the embed code in the blog you referenced. We are looking into fixing this for our upcoming mid-September update. Until then I don't think there's a workaround, apart from using a Map Tour created before June 26th to present audio. For example, if you or someone in your Organization created any Map Tours before June 26th, you may be able to repurpose one of them for your project. The important date is when the tour was created, not when it was last modified, so if you or a colleague have an unwanted demo or test tour, you could use that as the basis for your new tour project in order to include audio. Use the audio embed code from the blog you referenced, not the code that Alison posted above. Rupert

Hi Emily, you should be able to moving your Map Tour points around on any browser, not just IE We do hear this occasionally about Map Tour and Shortlist and would like to track it down. It does seem to sometimes happen if you are signed in to an ArcGIS Organization in which the web maps use a Org level locator that references a missing data source, or references an HTTP data source in an HTTPS org. We'd recommend contacting Esri Support about the issue so they can help track it down. Rupert

Thanks Lindsey. No problem. Sorry about the issue. We do need to handle the Shortlist and Map Tour cases better when it comes to changing accounts, because the apps are tied to specific maps and authors get the save error that you got if they try and update those stories without having write access to the associated map. In the case where the Shortlist app has been moved to another account, you could continue editing it in that new account if you also moved the web map that the Shortlist uses into that new account too. Rupert.
