In our enterprise we have two physical servers. prd1 and prd2. Both prd1 and prd2 host ArcGIS Enterprise server and now portal in HA config. prd1 is also the portal and server web adaptor host. We plan to deploy ArcGIS Enterprise Data Store to prd2. I'd like to limit the loading on prd2 from portal by keeping prd1 the primary portal as much as possible. If you'd confirm that in the HA portal config the loading on each server is the same whether the individual portal is functioning as primary or secondary then, I agree it doesn't matter which portal is primary and which is secondary.

Hello Jonathan, My comments pertain to ArcGIS Enterprise Portal 10.4.1. Might apply to 10.5.x but I'm not sure. COMMENT: Thank you for the suggested shutdown startup order. We'll find that useful. QUESTION: Now, if the suggested shutdown/startup order isn't followed, and the secondary portal becomes primary, how do we "gracefully" switch back to our desired original primary once both portal instances are back up and running? I have been stopping the portal service on the secondary server (now really the primary) and waiting the 500 seconds for the portal to switch. Must be a better way than that I don't know about. Thank you, Todd

1. Check SSL certs on portal, server, web server hosting web adaptor. Are they correctly bound? Do these components trust each other? 2. Verifiy authentication tier used for your portal/server. Where are users authenticated and where are tokens generated? We use portal user authentication tier and token generation. Our users are sourced from enterprise MS AD. 3. Verify Utilities/PrintingTools are shared from your portal. If you don't see the printing utility in your REST services directory unless you log in, then the utility isn't shared to everyone. 4. Our server is federated with our portal. This string in portal admin works in our enterprise. Notice it is the web adaptor URL without port numbers: https://server.domomain.org/arcgis/rest/services/Utilities/PrintingTools/GPServer/Export%20Web%20Map%20Task

Hello, 1. Set stage (my information source environment) Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2 user profile as system administrator. Other MS Windows environments should be about the same. Esri default installation path to desired toolbox: C:\Program Files\ArcGIS\Pro\Resources\ArcToolBox\Toolboxes. 2. Upgrade from Pro 1.4 to 2.1 does work. 3. Observe your installation path is non-standard. Recommend Esri "out of the box" paths. Likely to have file access permission problems if user/installer changes paths. Dependancies may be disrupted between executables/modules in application software. 4. Check for existance of other Python instances/utilities on same computer. If exist, suggest getting rid of them (except those packaged with ArcGIS Desktop). 5. Check your scripts for correct paths to python. 6. Keep it simple, use default installation paths and check permissions for your user profile. Also, depending on your enabled information protection features, executables may not run for user and/or executable type/location. 7. Many variables here. Many possible causes. Liist above just a suggested starting place.

"I think ESRI is under the mistaken impression that all users are going to have the admin rights necessary to hit that update button, when the opposite is the reality." Agree! Besides, in the enterprise world users don't really get to choose application patching. The team responsible for the app sets the schedule after 1st testing the patch in a controlled environment to ensure nothing else gets broken in the enterprise as a result of patch application. Now I'd like to know: How can I disable the check for updates at startup in pro 2.1.2 (yes I patched Pro serial fasion 2.1.1 then 2.1.2) for my remote app consumers so the end user isn't tempted to try to do something they can't on our application server.

We have also had problems with replica timeouts in our distributed enterprise (NOT check out) comprised of Microsoft SQL server v2012R2 configured as an HA cluster. Here's what has helped so far. (1) Open a case with Esri tech support and keep it open until you are satisfied; (2) Provide your entire database to Esri for performance analysis evaluation and recommendations; (3) Involve the storage hardware and network teams and have them evaluate the performance of their components [and control the finger pointing :-)]. We haven't solved our problems yet either. But the above actions have made things better.

Jan, In the long term, suggest reversing the workflow. In other words, when your field collection/reporting teams go out to collect data, provide them with a table in a schema that supports your GIS needs. Then when you get those data back it requires little or no conditioning. In the short term, try the table to table or excel to table tools and only select the column you want in your export GIS suitable table. Once you're in GIS table space then you can use scipting or field calulator to manipulated/condition those data for display as spatial content. Remember to set a geographic datum when working with table based x, y or you may get an undesirable result.

Budur, looks like the shapefile suggestion won't work directly is sharepoint. Far as I can tell (I'm not an Esri ArcGIS for sharepoint expert) you've to have x, y and projection data as the source for sharepoint visualization. If you've used other tools/scripting to create the shapefile already, then you'll (probably) have to back up and export a table of the source data that includes the x, y and SRID data instead, then upload/ingest that into sharepoint.

Shapefile sharing must include minimum of three files, .dbf, .shp. shx. Suggest .prj also. Find these files in the output location of your shapefile, zip them up and then post to sharepoint. Optionally, you may include all the shapefile extensions too.

Hello, Presuming a Microsoft Windows OS, have you tried changing the region and language to match what you want? I know this option works to reformat date/time fields and may also work for numeric. Not sure about that though.
