ArcMap 10.1 Add WCS Server unable to consume OGC CITE Reference Implementations

At http://cite.opengeospatial.org/reference there are reference implementations of WCS for 1.0.0 (deegree) and 1.1.1 (GeoServer). When I try to consume either I get errors: 1.0.0 - Get Coverages => Unspecified Error - I don't know why the URL has version of 1.1.0 when it says that should be 1.0.0 but I tried all version options 1.1.1 - Get Coverages works OK but try to add any of the three layers and it gives "A selected item could not be added to the map  Failed to open raster dataset" Has anybody been able to get ArcGIS for Desktop 10.1 to consume the OGC CITE Reference Implementations of WCS 1.0.0 or 1.1.1? - Graeme ... How to determine whether WFS is using GML Simple Features profile?

This is a follow up on a currently unanswered question at Stack Exchange GIS. The ArcGIS 10.1 documentation on Working with WFS services says: The GML Simple Features profile is recommended for use with ArcGIS and is the basis for WFS support in ArcGIS. Is there an easy way to determine whether a particular WFS is encoding using that or an alternative profile - perhaps by looking at its GetCapabilities? I am keen to know this so that, if/when I am unable to connect to a third party (or Esri) WFS via Data Interoperability, or if the WFS To Feature Class tool blows up ArcMap,  I can start to understand why that may be the case. - Graeme ... Don't be afraid to thank us by upvoting our contributions 😉 Without seeing your code and any errors it generates it is hard to be sure what your block may be. However, I would think that you only need to do MakeFeatureLayer on a particular Feature Class once and then to use SelectLayerByAttributes and SelectLayerByLocation with the selection type set to "CLEAR_SELECTION" in between each issuance to do repeated selections on the same Feature Class via its Feature Layer. - Graeme ... Today I tried again to reach the Walking Papers site and on about 50% of attempts the site timed out but on the other 50% I got through - so it looks like it is still available but not always reachable. However, even when I reach the site and locate my area of interest it does not seem to able to maintain a connection long enough to produce a print.  At the same time producing a print from Field Papers works fine so I think it is the server rather than my network causing the problem. - Graeme ... ArcGIS Editor for OpenStreetMap and Walking/Field Papers

At the ArcGIS Editor for OpenStreetMap project page 2.1 Beta for Desktop has been announced to work with ArcGIS for Desktop 10.1. I've downloaded this and so far so good. However, I went to try and grab a Walking Paper and discovered that http://www.walking-papers.org/ appears to have been turned off.   At the OpenStreetMap Wiki I found that Walking Papers has been superseded by Field Papers. My question is whether Field Papers can be used with ArcGIS for Desktop 10.1 and ArcGIS Editor for OpenStreetMap 2.1 Beta already or whether 10.1 users need to forget about using Walking/Field Papers temporarily? - Graeme ... WCS and raw cell/pixel values

I'm new to Web Coverage Services (WCS) but have found it easy to add one using ArcGIS for Desktop 10.1 and this service URL: http://nsidc.org/cgi-bin/atlas_south?service=WCS&request=GetCapabilities&version=1.1.1 I add the service by Liu et al. and get the display below. [ATTACH=CONFIG]17083[/ATTACH] When I use Identify to look at the values for any cell on the grid/coverage all Stretched Values and Pixel Values are in the range 0-255.  I would expect to see 0-255 used for the Stretched Values but thought the Pixel Value would be holding raw data with values well in excess of 255. When I export data from the WCS to a file geodatabase raster the values there are 0-255 too. Is it possible to access the raw values held in a WCS?  (Hopefully I am just misunderstanding how to get my desired result) - Graeme ... View more
