Hi Les, Yes, if you're hosting the map on ArcGIS Online and haven't made the map public, then you need a security token to access it -- which is what the proxy will handle for you. If you're being prompted for your ArcGIS Online login, then the app is still trying to access something on ArcGIS Online. Agreed with ditching the WAB; I think it's good as a starting point, but once you get your feet under you, many developers will elect to roll their own apps. Jon.

Update: Sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't. Once I cleared my cache, it eventually worked again. But, it seems that there's a bug in here somewhere that's preventing it from loading the configuration.

Hi Les, Because you're using a secured ArcGIS Online service, and because you've deployed the application on your own server, you'll need to use the Esri resource proxy. Here's a link to a page that will get you started: Use proxy—Web AppBuilder for ArcGIS | ArcGIS ' Jon.

BUMP. Using the latest version of the Web AppBuilder and the current instructions, the URL for testing a widget doesn't work: http://[your-host]:3344/webappbuilder?config=sample-configs/config-demo.json Instead, you're just taken to the default Web AppBuilder page.

Hi Jake, The Editor application has the right idea in terms of being able to edit -- but I need to be able to add some functionality to the application, such as: a list of features in the map a couple of custom buttons in the popup to perform some custom actions which is why I was looking at the Web AppBuilder -- it looked like I might be able to develop a couple of custom widgets to perform this functionality.

Is there any way to edit feature attributes in Web AppBuilder, other than using the Edit widget? The Edit Widget is pretty heavyweight and GIS-centric, which doesn't make it a good option for the general user of a web application. What I''d like to be able to enable is editing feature attributes either through the attribute table, the default feature popup, or a custom feature popup. Is there a way to do this? Can this be achieved using the Web AppBuilder Developer Edition?

But I can do this: s.set("activeSourceIndex","all); and "All" is selected by default.

Interesting -- that approach isn't working for me. If I don't set activeSourceIndex, the first geocoder in the list (after All) is selected.

Hi Jake, Yes, that does work. I'm wondering if there's a way to do it a priori, as in the second case that I identified above? Thanks, Jon.

Hi Brandon, I have the web map ID -- I'm looking for the ID of specific layer within the web map, so that I can do something like: var layer = this.map.getLayer(<insert layer ID here>); or, in order to configure the GeoForm template fields, something like: fields:{
<insert layer ID here>: [{
"name": "email", // field ID
"alias": "Email", // label
"fieldDescription": "Let us contact you.", // help text
"visible": true, // show this field?
"typeField": false, // subtype field?
"tooltip": "test@test.com", // placeholder text
"displayType": "email" // text, checkbox, radio, textarea, url, email
}]
} Thanks, Jon.

For various reasons it's useful to know the ID of a web map layer. So what's the easiest way to find it? I've learned by debugging that the ID of one of my web map layers is "Development_2055". How would I find this without debugging?

Jonathan, Is there any comprehensive documentation on doing this? It seems to me that the developer documentation is very thin. For example, right now, I'm trying to configure the proxy to allow users to access secured ArcGIS Online maps through a customized GeoForm app; I've already had to hunt and dig through a number of different sources to get this far, and it's still not clear to me that the documentation exists. Thanks, Jon.
