Do other packages work for you? What I'm asking is, is it just this one? And if so, can you find the original data and try re-packing it again?

I am not fully sure, but I am going to guess that this is something not provided from the out-of-the-box story map and will require custom programming. However, if you do change the code and customize it, you can still upload it to your ArcGIS Online account and host it as one of your story maps, so you do not need to worry there. From your AGOL account in My Content, you just go to Add Item from web and add it there. You can't really add this discussion to other 'places' but you can tag them in your post to get more visibility by using the @ sign. I would suggest Story Maps and ArcGIS Online. And maybe even in Developers. Also, it may be a good idea to bump this thread again on Monday to get it back to the top of 'recent activity'.

Mark, I know you mentioned internships. I think that those are a great place to start. I got my "start" doing an internship (or two) for the Student Conservation Association. This really helped me get my foot in the door and allowed me to gain real-world experience when I had none. I would also suggest inquiring at your local city government office (or county or similar government agency). Sometimes they have opportunities for interns with little-to-no-experience. Sometimes, if you're desperate enough and they have no money, they would likely welcome some 'free' work in order to do some grunt tasks that they do not have time for. This would give you great experience to get your feet wet in the world of public sector GIS. There are some places online and otherwise where you can do some free GIS work in order to get more experience in it. There are some examples listed here: Where to get started with volunteer GIS work? : gis Honestly, who cares if your resume has a big blank spot. If you're looking for entry level stuff or a career change, this is likely to be expected. Good luck with your search and welcome to the GeoNet!

I had a layer package not work for me. I went into the Control Panel to the Uninstall programs page. I did a "Repair" on ArcGIS and things worked properly again. It might be worth checking out.

I believe this is (or used to be) a very touchy question. For the most, this will depend on where you live and how Google has their maps contracted. In some places, the local agency (in my case, my local State agency) will have contracted Google Imagery that you can use in ArcGIS Online as a basemap. In other cases, there appears to be several different ways of obtaining this, though they don't all appear to work. This service appeared to work at one point but it seems like it was last updated about 3.5 years ago: http://www.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=a8f78cc6adea48cb8e962d7e36b9d010 There was a question in the developers forum (using JavaScript) about this that has some suggestions with possible solutions: Add Google Basemap via Javascript There are a few solutions listed at this blog post: My Adventure with Google Maps in ArcMap | SoCalGIS.org In any case, you might have to look around to see if there are any local agencies that have obtained Google's Imagery or try some of these linked suggestions.

It looks like there might be a solution in this forum post: Error HRESULT E_FAIL has been returned from a call to a COM component Though it's related to ArcHydro, so I am not sure if there is compatibility in the help for the online stuff. Can you list the exact steps you are taking to get this? And is your layer public where it can be tried by someone else?

For 'newer' versions of MS Access (using the .accdb extension instead of the .mdb), you might need to establish an Ole DB connection. There is an esri article on it: 32976 - Connect to Microsoft Access 2007 / 2010 (ACCDB) files in ArcGIS

You can turn on midpoint snapping from the Snapping toolbar. To do this, start an edit session, and in the Edit Toolbar, drop down the Editor list, go to Snapping and then Snapping Toolbar. In the snapping toolbar, you can select midpoint snapping. Now, to move the anchor point, base point, there are some steps listed here: 34874 - Move the anchor point of a feature " Start an Edit Session. Select the Edit tool and double-click the feature. Select the Rotate tool on the Editor Toolbar. Hover the mouse over the feature's anchor to move it to a new location. Click and drag the anchor point to a new location. " Then you can drag the anchor point to the mid section of that line segment.

I was using Pythonwin since I liked its interactive window. Though, I now use PyCharm . I find it's helpful with drop down intellisense like menus. Both of these are free so that is another plus. And yes, Dan, I have seen this blog post: IDE's for Python It's a great comprehensive list, though I would like to hear other's opinions on this board

I don't see your screen shot of your TOC. In any case, you could add a US States layer. There are various ways of obtaining this. You could search in ArcGIS Online (in the Add Data button, drop down to Add Data from ArcGIS Online). Here is one I have used before: https://services.arcgis.com/P3ePLMYs2RVChkJx/arcgis/rest/services/USA_States_Generalized/FeatureServer Or you could search in the Template data that comes when you install ArcGIS. Usually found in a similar place to here: C:\Program Files (x86)\ArcGIS\Desktop10.3\TemplateData
