To those who have replied so far, thanks for the info... I do not want to create a feature class... I am really looking for adding graphics to a graphics layer using python. If this is not yet available in ArcGIS Pro, I suppose I need to do this using feature classes. Or, maybe javascript... Thanks, Janice.

How can I add a graphic to the map in arcgis pro 2.6 or 2.7 using python? I have a script that selects point features based on attributes and I have collected the x,y values from the point features. I want to draw a line from one point to the other. I can create a polyline but do not know how to add it to the graphics layer to display it. Anyone else creating graphics in pro using python? I am sure there must be a way to do this but I am unable to find any documentation. Thanks, Janice.

I have marked JoshuaBixby as providing the solution. He is right about it being a network issue and not a GIS Server issue. The Network folks did something with an external listener which allowed the gis servers to access themselves through the load balancer. I don't have the exact terminology but could probably provide more info if anyone is interested. Thanks to Jonathan and Joshua for sticking with me. Janice.

Hi Joshua, Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, my IT folks say it is a GIS Server issue because the server log files say that the GIS Server is not allowing the connection... This is getting pretty messy! I am sorry. If we get it figured out, I will post the solution. Thanks, Janice.

Hi Jonathan, Thanks for the reply. My IT department tells me that we do not use a forward proxy. I am guessing that you are saying that we should use a forward proxy. I am working with the IT department at this time but it is not going quickly. They are not comfortable with the gis servers and I know nothing about the load balancer configuration. I am unable to browse from my gis server to the load balancer but can browse to it from my workstation. Are there settings that need to be updated on the gis server to allow it to talk to the load balancer? I did follow one technical article about running IE as the arcgis service account and making sure the LAN settings were unchecked and the load balancer url was added to the intranet zone sites. This did not improve my situation. I do have a case open with technical support but this is going slow as well. Thanks, Janice.

Joshua, That is exactly correct. I cannot browse to the rest services from the arcgis server through the F5. I can browse all day from other computers. Do you have any idea how to correct this issue? Thanks, Janice.

I have 2 virtual machines with windows 2019 and ArcGIS Server 10.8.1. I am trying to implement a F5 Big-IP load balancer in place of web adaptors. We have all three servers in the DMZ. I have a geoprocessing service which is used for printing a map. The geoprocessing service works when I browse to the rest endpoint and select "execute task". This is the Export Web Map task and I provide a json string with the map information, a string for the output format (PDF), and a paper size (Letter ANSI A Landscape). The task works and creates a PDF of the map as long as I do not include any map layers from my gis server site. The server log has the following error messages: SEVERE Dec 28, 2020, 9:53:45 AM Error executing tool. Export Web Map Geoprocessing/BasicPrinting.GPServer SEVERE Dec 28, 2020, 9:53:45 AM Error executing tool. I was able to get the print service working with the proxy and the F5. The only why I was able to get it working was to completely bypass the F5. I am connecting to my internal servers using port 6443. I was trying to go through the F5 but the internal servers are not able to talk back to the F5 directly. I am not sure if this makes sense to anyone else but it is working. Thanks for taking the time to read through this. DavidColey - We are still planning on going without the web adaptor. For us, the only reason to have the web adaptor was for hiding the server info and the F5 handles that now along with load balancing between our two gis servers. Thanks, Janice.

Hey David, I heard that I was going to find it difficult to use F5. I can try your suggestion of including the Web Adaptor but I am going to wait and see if ESRI has any answers for me... Although the tech support guy from ESRI will not help with proxy issues. I am hoping that someone out there has run into this issue and has a solution which does not involve the web adaptor. I am not entirely opposed to using the web adaptor, it is just that I am setting this up for someone who will be taking over the maintenance and they want as few moving parts as possible. I will let you know how it goes if I end up placing the web adaptor back in service. Thanks, Janice.

Hi David, >From what I understand, the web adaptor is optional when using a third party load balancer. Am I missing something? Will the Web Adaptor help me with my printing problem? Thanks, Janice.

Hi All, I have a JavaScript application (3.23) which I am trying to move from a ArcGIS for Server 10.4.1 environment with web adaptor to a ArcGIS Server 10.8.1 environment with F5 load balancer and no web adaptor. I published the Export Web Map geoprocessing tool and am able to run it successfully from the rest endpoint. I have tried to run it from my application without the use of a proxy and I receive an error of code 400, Invalid URL. When I try to run the print request through the proxy I get an error code of 500, unable to load. Unfortunately, I have many problems! 1. I made a change to the proxy.config based on the most recent version in GitHub and now when I try to ping the proxy.ashx file, I get "<ProxyConfig xmlns="> was not expected." The proxy.config file which I downloaded from GitHub has xmlns=proxy.xsd in it. I have tried to remove this and am unable to get the change recognized (My web server is IIS). What is the best way to refresh the proxy? 2. I have tried so many different combinations of urls in my proxy.config that I am now officially dizzy! Can someone please describe for me what the different parts of this file are? I understand (I think) that the allowed referrers are the url that I am allowing access to my print service. What are the server urls? What happens when there are multiple server urls? The attached txt file has code in it matching my proxy.config and default.aspx files. I hope that someone out there can understand this and has a solution for me! Thanks, Janice.

Hi Andres, The original post was 4 years, ago! I am beyond this version and have no idea if this would have solved my issue. However, maybe it will help someone with the same issue. I am marking your answer as correct because it must be so. Thanks, Janice.

I tried again to move the config-store and server directories and this time it worked. The next issue was that the Search Utilities would not start. Looking closer at the problem I found that they were referencing a toolbox on a drive letter from my production ArcGIS server. I found that I could update this in server admin. All is good now!

I changed all of my folders back to the first file server and everything is working again... Makes me think I did something wrong when I moved them the first time to the new file server... Or, there is something wrong with the second file server. Janice.

Hi All, I am receiving an error when trying to restart a service in Server Manager after moving my config-store and server directories. The error states that "Service failed to start" and is looking for files in the old directories location. I am on Windows and at ArcGIS for Server 10.4.1. I originally moved the directories from a local drive to a new VM and joined a second server to my site. Everything was working fine after this move. Now, I got a new file server and would like to move the directories to this new VM. I changed the config-store and server directories using Server Manager and when I login to server admin, the new location is what I see, as well. However, I am unable to get my services to recognize the new location. I have stopped and restarted the ArcGIS Service on both server machines. I have attempted to stop and start the individual services. Is there some other hoop I need to jump through to get my services to realize that they can no longer use the old files? Thanks, Janice. Here is the message displayed in Server Manager when I try to start the service: Service failed to start Assessor.PropertyMapMobile.MapServer: <SERVER1>.<DOMAIN>.LOCAL Can not open file \\OLDSERVER\arcgis_server\directories\arcgissystem\arcgisinput\Assessor\PropertyMapMobile.MapServer\extracted\v101\PropertyMapM.msd.
