Just by using the WAB, and the initial setup you are basically logging into AGOL. If you remember when you install the WAB it asked for you AGOL/Portal URL, and then you had to enter a AppID? That AppID in the AGOL/Portal actually has you local machine registered. I haven't tried to disconnect my internet while editing in WAB, but I know if the machine isn't "registered" then you get the "redirect" error. So, what I did was logged onto AGOL, found the base map I was using. opened it up. Saved as a new Map Service. Edited it by removing all but "its" basemap. Saved. Shared to "Everyone". Then back in WAB, I pointed to this new one that no longer has my community layer. I can add that back as a layer in WAB if I decide I need it.

Barnaby Rockwell wrote: Thanks. I've just been selecting an AGOL basemap as the Web Map, and that works ok. But doing that adds layers to my app without asking me, like Boundaries and Transportation, etc. And I haven't figured out a way to get rid of those extra layers in my app Layer List I'm assuming the Boundaries and Transportation are part of the "base map" you selected from AGOL? I had a layer showing up on top of my raster base map that I didn't want. I just created a copy of the base map and removed those layers, then pointed to the new clean base map. Not sure if your situation is more complicated than that, but thought I'd pass that simple fix along.

Ben, if that did solve the problem, don't forget to mark the answer as correct. If it didn't solve, let me know what didn't work and I might have another solution. I played with all that quite a bit a few weeks ago.

Ben, you can do this easiest if you follow the instructions on my Tips and Observations for getting Web AppBuilder - Developer Edition Installed page (which I know you've looked at) and follow the manual update in AGOL Select REGISTER. In the “Redirect URI” box, add an http and https version for your machine http://<machinename> https://<machinename> HINT: after you hit “ADD” you can’t grab the string to change the http to https:, so select and copy the string (Ctrl-A, Ctrl-C) before hitting ADD so you can past and modify the second entry. HINT 2: for our location, we had to include domain info so the computer name was <machine name>.<full domain> HINT 3: If you want to use multiple machines for development, you can enter additional machine names now or later. Then I can use the same appid for the new install...but I register it first. edited typos....

LocalLayer widget install and usage tips For those wanting to be able to use ArcGIS Server services with your own ArcGIS Server services in Web AppBuilder for ArcGIS (Developer Edition) | ArcGIS for Developers without having to have all your services in one web map in ArcGIS Online, the LocalLayer custom widget is a good place to start. GeoNet thread: LocalLayerWidget Version 2.5 and AccessifizrWidget Layer - 09/28/2017 (Adam Drackley) Latest version: LocalLayer · GitHub : Updates to this blog and attached document: 10/12/2017 Added note in doc about making sure the widget\LocalLayer does NOT have another layer of LocalLayer as a subdirectory. Should look like graphic below in the widgets directories: For additional discussion, see WAB 2.5 and LocalLayer 2.5? I cant seem to get the LocalLayer widget to show up. Also, attached the doc with Oct date instead of Nov (I seem to be rushing the year) 10/11/2017 - Updated and uploaded the help document (pdf) 7/19/2017 - Web AppBuilder for ArcGIS v2.5 Developer Edition Now Available! | ArcGIS Blog 2/18/2017 - added links to my other blog pages 10/1/2015 - updated and attached new PDF For a more WAB resources, check out Web AppBuilder Developer Edition - Resource List (updated 3/26/2018) My other WAB related blog posts: /blogs/myAlaskaGIS/2017/02/13/web-appbuilder-tips-and-links-for-creating-modifying-and-modifying-custom-widgets-2132017 /blogs/myAlaskaGIS/2016/04/04/web-appbuilder-developer-edition-help-and-training-links MAIN --> /blogs/myAlaskaGIS/2016/03/09/web-appbuilder-developer-edition-customization-resource-list?sr=search&searchId=0bc7dffa-e069-4f15-a0e7-fa0417d76871&searchIndex=0 - updated often, recommend bookmarking this one for most current announcements, custom widgets, etc. /blogs/myAlaskaGIS/2015/01/15/tips-and-observations-for-getting-web-appbuilder-developer-edition-installed (this post) /blogs/myAlaskaGIS/2015/02/04/tips-for-using-the-custom-locallayer-widget-with-wab-dev-edition This document was created initially because the first few versions were lacking any detailed help. The READMME.md now contains much of this information, but the attached document expands this info to hopefully make it a little more user friendly, for those of us that are not as hardcore at developing as they are. (NOTE: help docs have been improved since I originally wrote this. Also, very detailed doc/tutorial for this, plus other custom widgets, can be found Using the Web AppBuilder ) These are my tips and observations that I'm collecting as I'm learning to implement the widget. Not a true "help" document, but some info that might help others. I will update and re-post as needed. Comments/corrections are welcome in the comment section. For the latest download, status, information on possible new features, or to help collaborate, check out the GitHub page: LocalLayer · GitHub

That is what I was leaning towards, since that would make it easier for me to maintain. It will have to be a living document since this is all still changing rapidly. I'll try to post later today.

Adam Drackley wrote: Got it. It doesn't look like there's any way to keep Github from appending the "-master" branch name to the zipped repo, but hopefully the rename will make things easier for users. At least not having "Widget" as part of the widget folder name is better. ...makes adding the "uri" section less confusing. Thanks.

Adam Drackley Robert Scheitlin, GISP I've written down my instructions "so far" for installing and using the widget...subject to change as I learn more, and WAB and the widget(s) change. Because I wanted better formatting than I know how to do in an .md file, I wrote it in Word and created a PDF. Can this (a PDF) be provided thru GitHub? If not, (or in addition) one option is to post it the same what I did with my "Tips" for installing WAB post. If so, I was wondering if either/both of you would like to review before I do. I would email it, but neither of you follow me here, so can't direct mail. If posting is a preferred option and you don't want to review, I'll just post and you can comment from there. I find posting to my GeoNet page helps me find it again (vs. getting lost on local hardware) and maybe others can benefit..

I do see the updated info now. yea!. My doc will be more more step by step (mainly so I remember) and maybe more than they will want on the github page, but I will make sure it gets posted somewhere when complete.

Hi Barnaby, Actually, I think I had noticed, but I'm working on a better "help" document, both for me and others. But as you mentioned, this thread is getting a bit long, so wanted to point that out a bit clearer in case they could add it to the readme.md doc right away. That is a brick wall for someone just getting started, new to all this and not catching it in the thread. Simple things like that can frustrate those like me that aren't hard-core developers.

So, with clear mind this morning, I remembered that I need to make the change in the \server\apps\<#>\jimu.js\layerInfos\LayerInfoFosMapServices.js too, not just the client\sitemap folder, since I already had the site created and modified. Once I did that, the attribute tables are coming up, as expected. yeah! I agree, that the login screen is desired at times for security, and should not be turned off automatically or by default (although it's a pain when developing). My latest version of my flex builder app does the same, and I think it has more to do with how our security is set up now (with SSL/https finally in place) than the builder apps. Since my first task is converting our in-house-only flex app to js, I can live with the login. Thanks again for your response Adam Drackley re: the secure attribute tables!

Thanks Adam! It's not quite working for me, it's wanting me to log in each time. I'll take a closer look in the morning, since it's still probably a proxy issue on my end. But I can at least customize the widget now, so a major step forward.
