Anybody having issues with large amounts of memory being used when looking at the ArcGIS API for JavaScript website using a Chrome browser? If I camp on that website, Chrome starts just using up lots of my systems memory. It takes a while though. This morning when I came in, it had allocated 2.8Gb of memory. As soon as I dismiss the tab, the memory is reallocated. Very weird... The same happens on the ArcGIS API for Flex too.

You might also try this. If your parcels have a spatial index, this should be pretty fast too. arcpy.SelectLayerByLocation(in_layer=arcpy.PointGeometry(point), select_features=parcelsLayer)

Travis, Our arrangement is different. I support our PSAP along with all of our other city departments. I have a GIS tech that does most of the data editing. Yakima has a population of approximately 93k. Regards, Tom

Greetings Forum, I am using the directions component in an app and I am trying to use some point locations (road closures) as barriers. I have added them to the route options and in the debugger can see that they are loaded into the directions component instance in my app. I have also verified in the debugger that they are in the correct projection. When the getDirections() are executed, it just ignores the point barriers. What am I missing? <esri:Directions id="drivingDirections" width="280" height="{directionsContainer.height -30}" left="5" bottom="5"
map="{map}" routeOptions="{directionOptions}" geocoderOptions="{directionGeocoderOptions}"
url="http://gis.yakimawa.gov/arcgis101/rest/services/Streets/StreetsNetwork/NAServer/Route"/>
<esri:DirectionsRouteOptions id="directionOptions" pointBarriers="{roadClosures}" />
// get road closures
roadClosuresURL = event.result.configuration.roadClosuresURL;
var rcQuery:Query = new Query();
rcQuery.where = 'OBJECTID > 0';
rcQuery.outFields = ["*"];
rcQuery.returnGeometry = true;
rcQuery.outSpatialReference = new SpatialReference(102100);
roadClosuresQueryTask.execute(rcQuery);
private function roadClosuresResult(result:QueryEvent):void {
roadClosures = result.featureSet;
}

Greetings! To add to this thread, I am using a direct feed from a vehicle modem and just needed to use the coordinates or a MapPoint to create driving directions. Instead of using the searchTerm of the stopProvider for the coordinates, I set the location property of the stopProvider and use the searchTerm as a descriptor. This works very well.
// create directions from the mobile vehicles current location to the selected call.
var fromVehicle:DirectionsStop = drivingDirections.stopProvider[0];
fromVehicle.editable = false;
var vehPT:MapPoint = vehGraphic.geometry as MapPoint;
fromVehicle.location = vehPT;
fromVehicle.searchTerm = "My Current Vehicle Location...";
// now get the call point
var call:Call = ItemRenderer(event.target).data as Call;
var toLocation:DirectionsStop = drivingDirections.stopProvider[1];
toLocation.editable = false;
toLocation.searchTerm = call.address;
toLocation.location = call.geometry;
drivingDirections.getDirections();

My apologies Roberto, I should have been more clear with my request. Those are exactly the objects I am expecting to be returned when the locate event is fired. I am not receiving that object. The event appears to be fired when the request is made, not when the position is returned. How do I get the result of the position being found? Thanks very much!

Greetings! I am working with the LocateButton and trying to get some information about the point when the on 'locate' event fires. It looks like it is supposed provide graphic, position and scale information, but I guess I am not sure what the proper syntax is to return this information. This is my code: var geoLocate = new LocateButton({
map: map,
setScale: false,
centerAt: false
}, "LocateButton");
geoLocate.startup();
geoLocate.on('locate',gpsUpdate);
function gpsUpdate(gps) {
// do fun things with GPS info
}
Thanks for any help!

It appears that the dialog-create fires before the dialog is actually created, not just after. The only way I could find to add an event to it was a bit of jQuery. This is not ideal as the dialog name might change ect... It would be ideal to have another event that would fire when the dialog is displayed. Here is the jquery line of code: $('body').on('show','#dijit_Dialog_0',loadUsername);

The dialog-create event fires before the dialog is created. I have not been able to figure out how to populate the field as the dialog is presented. Any ideas of what event I need to listen for?

That is what I am trying to do. I guess I don't know the id of the username input element presented by the IdentityManager. I would use the on-create event of the IdentityManager to populate the username input field. I am sure I am going to dope slap my forehead, but it has eluded me. Thanks for your help!

I have used both of these examples. This is not what I am looking for. I am trying to populate the username field of the IdentityManager and have the user key their password to login.

Greetings! I am working on a JS API app that uses some secured ArcGIS Server services. The IdentityManager does work well for this purpose, but I am using a Windows Domain for my user store and the app users have to type in a complete domain\username to be able to properly log in. This is not a big deal on a desktop, but it is much more difficult from an iPhone. Is there a way to bypass the IdentityManager and save the username, so they don't have to type it in? They would still need to type in a password? Thanks very much!
